JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus Is the Bread from Heaven
John 6:22-40  NLT

22The next morning, back across the lake, crowds began gathering on the shore, waiting to see Jesus. For they knew that he and his disciples had come over together and that the disciples had gone off in their boat, leaving him behind. 23Several boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the Lord had blessed the bread and the people had eaten. 24When the crowd saw that Jesus wasn't there, nor his disciples, they got into the boats and went across to Capernaum to look for him. 25When they arrived and found him, they asked, "Teacher, how did you get here?"

26Jesus replied, "The truth is, you want to be with me because I fed you, not because you saw the miraculous sign. 27But you shouldn't be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that I, the Son of Man, can give you. For God the Father has sent me for that very purpose."

28They replied, "What does God want us to do?"

29Jesus told them, "This is what God wants you to do: Believe in the one he has sent."

30They replied, "You must show us a miraculous sign if you want us to believe in you. What will you do for us? 31After all, our ancestors ate manna while they journeyed through the wilderness! As the Scriptures say, `Moses gave them bread from heaven to eat.' "

32Jesus said, "I assure you, Moses didn't give them bread from heaven. My Father did. And now he offers you the true bread from heaven. 33The true bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."

34"Sir," they said, "give us that bread every day of our lives."

35Jesus replied, "I am the bread of life. No one who comes to me will ever be hungry again. Those who believe in me will never thirst. 36But you haven't believed in me even though you have seen me. 37However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them. 38For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do what I want. 39And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them to eternal life at the last day. 40For it is my Father's will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life--that I should raise them at the last day."

How is Jesus "bread" to you?

People eat bread to satisfy physical hunger and to sustain physical life.

We can satisfy spiritual hunger and sustain spiritual life only by a right relationship with Jesus Christ.  No wonder he called himself the bread of life.

But bread must be eaten to sustain life, and Christ must be invited into our daily walk to sustain spiritual life.

Hello there everyone.
It sure has been such a long time since i have been here. HOw are things going with you all? It seems that no one is up or they are all busy this time of day. WEll God bless you all and hope to drop in again soon.

Papa John

Thanks for the thoughts on the bread of life Etta Sue.  I''m up early this morning.

The doctor seemed pleased with Cornelia's condition yesterday.  Her blood pressure was a little lower than he wanted it so he changed her medicine a little.

John 6:35  Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
(NIV)

John 6:47-51
47   I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.
48   I am the bread of life.
49   Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died.
50   But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die.
51   I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."
(NIV)

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Etta Sue, I love those passages of Scripture and Papa John, your citations fit right in, as you well know.

It is going to be another beautiful day here in Georgia.  Pat has an appointment to get her eyes checked this morning and then this afternoon we both will go to the church around 1 am.  She is going to her quilting group as they are tieing some quilt tops she put together from scraps to give to the familes as they leave our county homeless shelter program and go into homes of their own.

I have Calvin Cove at 2 pm so will read or find something to do until then and afterwards until she is ready to come home.  This is one of the days when having only one car doesn't work out too well but is fine.  I am thankful we have one good car to get us around.

I was saddened yesterday afternoon when I spoke with my son and he told me he had changed his mind and wasn't coming to choir practice as he has no interest in attending church.  I will continue to pray that the Holy Spirit will soften his heart so that he can come to realize it wasn't God's fault that his little son died so many years ago.  I told him I wouldn't nag him about this but will continue to try to show as strong an example as I can to him through my own life.  He is 42 years old and I cannot control his life.

Etta Sue, glad to see you got the plumbing finished and the downspouts on your house.  It is always a good feeling when we once again get things fixed up.

Papa John, glad to read that the doctor was pleased with the progress that Cornelia has made.  I hope the meds adjustments will help bring her blood pressure up.

Paulette, good to see you posting this morning.  I hope you can stop by more as we have missed you.  However, we know that you have a busy life with your family responsibilities.

Melody, a few days reprieve from having to start the grind of a job.  Hope you weren't too disappointed.

Janet, it sounds like you are on your way to becoming the "wonder woman" of our group by being in such fit condition.  From what you are saying you are seeing big improvements in your body tone and health from the exercising.  I am glad you are able to do it.

Pat, glad the dentist visit didn't involve anything serious.  Hope you have gotten rested up from your trip.

Marilyn, looking forward to seeing the pictures with the birds.  I don't think I have ever heard of that particular bird.

Hi Ritz.

Time to leave for coffee.

Ruthie

Good Morning, I am up early and will soon go to my job at EE Canada.  Larry, sometimes all we can do is pray for our kids.   God can do amazing things in their lives even when all seems hopeless.  Don't give up.

Hope everyone is well.  It will be 15 C in Canada.  That feels good!  God Bless.

Love Ruthie

Good Morning!

It's lovely to see you all posting and it's so nice to see the site back.  Ian was telling me that this was a fibre optic hugimajigger that was cut and it involved a huge part of Ontario (banks and large businesses) that were involved in the sites being down so it wasn't just our little CP.

Sorry to see that some of you didn't receive my email.  Al I sent you the list that I sent to and you can see on it that you were the first email address on the long list and I heard back from many on that list who did receive it so it's strange that a few never got it.

I had my son-in-law stay here last night as he's working in the area so it was nice to have company last evening.

I'll be back a little later.

Good Morning One and All.

Janet The woman that died had to stay in cold storage until he came up with the rest of the money as it is now money up front before anything gets done. There are no services at the graveside  just a memorial next week. She is being buried today.

Larry the Godwits weren't there yesterday I don't know where they have gone so I can't take photos.

Today is the Seniors Bible Study and luncheon at my church, is the first time I have been off work and able to go. There are only a few people who attend and a couple of them aren't seniors.

Well since I am off today I came here first with my  :coffee: now it is time for me to get off the computer and into the Word.

Edit: The reason I was hoping that people would comment on Marbeth's painting is that I think she would like to see you remarks. I know Al is watching that thread.

Sorry the email didn't get here, Pat, but the Yahoo Groups site is still up & running, so a few of us used it.  Maybe we ought to remind people of that site, as it makes a good backup.  Also glad, though, that this site is back.

Well I'm at work now, so I will drop into CP every once in a while.

Has anyone heard of Marine Phytoplankton?  It comes from an island near Vancouve, BC and is marketed by a firm in Utah.  Sounds fantastic.  Tom the man who discovered it for himself was dying of a rare cancer and after eatomg it is completely cured now.  I will tell about the website later.

God Bless

My Dear Friends,

Etta Sue,

I , Thank you for the wonderful mornings devotional, It is so great to know that we have a Lord who gives us not only the bread to satisfy us here on earth but has a Great table for us  ALL  to sit together  and be in his presence. That sounds pretty satisfying to me.

Papa John, So nice to see you, and your words seem to fallow Ettas Sues, Hi Cornelia, God bless you both.

Paulette, I too have been missing around here lately, I am pleased we  should  show up here  today.

Larry, So glad to see you..  It must be saddending for you with your son, I know God has a plan for him, perhaps he needs to go through his own things before he ends up on his knees CRYING out for GOD!!  I know the bible says a child will go the way he was rasied,  so he is with God because of  YOU being who you are in Christ.

Ruthie and karmat, A BIG HELLO!!

Pat, I love you , You are so wonderful to do all you do.

A quick note to tell you has happened, on the 17 of last month my Friend Laura of 22 years called me and finally told me after 12 years of marriage she has been BEAT the whole time but this time she is beyond recognition, so my honey and I drove 2600 miles to get her, I couldn't have even known it was her, he tried to break her neck and did break an ankle,

We have had some rough times since we got her as to she is in such mental shape, BUT PAT, she loves GOD and we pray for hours every day and read our bibles.

So I will be in and out  for short periods, Please pray for  this issue, I will be posting  more often and keeping you up to date, Laura and I have been prayer warriors together for 22 years and the last 3 years we have spent 3 hours a day reading and praying for the world. But she forgot to tell me about her needs of prayer, I kinda knew but She  never complained..   I know that is why she finally knew GOD did not want her to be a beaten down spirit. She is living with us and loves Cheryl and the doggies and has  been settling down nicely , She came here with 2 bags , So we can say, She has given up EVERYTHING for GOD.

God be with all of you my friends,

Love Alma and Laura too.

:coffee: My coffee cup is almost empty. I need to do the last load of laundry before heading back to work.

Marilyn: I looked at Marbeths painting but did not comment. Sorry

I make very little comments about my personal life because I have been hurt very bad, both private and public. When I needed encouragement I got punched in the face and the door slammed as well.  I feel that I am a listener but when I need to be listened to no one only God is there.   Yes this all sounds like a poor me but oh well.

Tomorrow is the start of the most wonderful time of the year without Christs Death and Resurrection I would have nothing

Marilyn

Ruth I am very sorry to hear that you have been hurt so badly that you keep it all inside. But God does know  and He will never leave you or forsake you. He is always  right there with His arm around you.  It's OK Ruth, some people are very uncomfortable telling other their problems and/or feelings.  I have not talked much about the violence I have suffered in my life from the men I was with and I probably will never tell anyone about the things that were done to me. I did talk to My friend Peggy [Pastor Oliver's wife] when I was living down south. I think I told her more than I have anyone else except for God.

Alma: I know what you friend is going through and went through during that terrible time in her marriage, I have been there and suffered near death at the hands of someone whom I thought loved me more times than I care to talk about  here in the public eye. I am praying for your friend it is going to be a long time of healing and the trust will take even longer.

Last night I was watching on The Fifth Estate the story about the little boy in Toronto who was starved to death by his grandparents.  They are now in jail, but it was very hard to watch.  The Catholic Children's Aid were the ones who took the little boy away from the parents and gave him to the grandparents.   The Children's Aid should be charged with murder as well as the grandparents because they did nothing over the years to rescue the precious little fellow.    Feeling sick about it today, but I know he is in heaven now.

My dearesrt freinds,

  Marilyn and Ruthie,

I too have suffered at the hands of someone I loved, I now have a new face and a NEW HEART, my face came from the doctor and my Heart came from Christ.

As Laura lives here she would loved to come in and read and be a part on CP, so we want to  let you know, That we shall be stopping in daily.

Ruthie, it takes courage to tell of our angushish and you are brave to say today of you hurt,  since Laura has come here , I too have had spirital attack, publically and privately by her husband,  I am lifting you up today to our father ho is the great healer and I am praying the time will pass quickly so you will feel less hurt sooner.

Laura said to Thank you for  her having a place to come and be open about her pain and knowing others too suffer in Christ.

God be with us all,

I was up until 2:30 a.m. trying to get the virus out of here.  A pop up kept saying it couldn't be moved or deleted.  I went to bed.  I got up at 7:30 after 4 hours sleep and picked up sticks in my yard, put out my lawn ornaments in the river rocks and then mowed the grass.  I have had lunch and a shower.  I turned on the computer and my antivirus still said I had a Win 32: Swizzor-gen Trojan virus.  But this time the window that I could click to Move to the Virus Chest, let me.  Hopefully, it is isolated now.

I am tired!

Hi Everyone...

Had to take my friend to the doctor today and to the lab for tests, etc. so that took up a few hours.  Came home so tired, I had a nap.

Nice to see you all.  Glad you got that virus isolated, Etta Sue.

Hi Ritz and Melody and everyone else.

Will talk with you all later.

Just checking in ... I've been busy with other stuff for a few days but still managed to get here at least once a day, anyway.   :)  I have changed my isp to peoplepc and uninstalled wmconnect the other day and have been getting used to the new way of doing things.  Yesterday, when I couldn't get on CP, I figured it was because I had deleted something that I needed ...  :-[   :-\  It was a relief to get Pat's email that CP was down.  (Another site I tried was also down).  That's the first thing I think when there's trouble ... must be my fault!   :-[

I have been making the rounds of doctor appointments, etc.  I had some lab work done last Wednesday morning and was supposed to donate blood that afternoon.  When I went to donate blood they couldn't find a "useable" vein because the girl at the lab had "taken the best vein" and there was a small bruise.  They wouldn't take my blood.   :-\   Today I had the mammogram appointment and have rescheduled the blood donation for next week, the 19th.

Yesterday I noticed water on the floor by my refrigerator/freezer.  I wiped it up and not long afterwards there was more water on the floor!  Soon I noticed the freezer was not freezing!  Well, I took the still kinda frozen food over to my neighbor and called for the Appliance Doctor.  Of course, I could only leave a message ... then I went across the road and asked my handy neighbor if he would come take a look.  He said it was the compressor and I envisioned having to buy a new refrigerator.  But wait!  He said he knew of a part that might work and he'd get it if I was willing to pay for it.  (Can't return electrical parts, y'know).  I said "go for it" and he did! And it worked!! The part cost $36 and he charged $30 for his labor and my frig is back in business!!  That's about a tenth of what a new one would have cost, and Bob says this should last forever.  I told him I don't need it to last forever, just as long as I'm around.   ;)

Once again I am thankful for good neighbors.

Since I'm not feeling exactly in the pink, I believe I will retire to my corner and go back to observing.

Later .........
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hey!  CP is back!  And looks as if it has been back all day, but I got no email notices.  (That's what I get for deleting them too soon, I guess.)  I did get the notice that it was down, but when no new posting emails came in, I just thought it was still down.  That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!  ::) :-[

I spent the entire afternoon yesterday with Beth, in two different doctors' offices.  She is getting new glasses--just in time; when they took her glasses off, the temple fell off, broken in the hinge.  And she finally managed to get her appointments in Amarillo made.  We will be taking her there on May 9.  Dr. Plumlee gave her a scrip for a new Hi-Lo bed, as she hasn't been able to get into and out of her bed for weeks now.

Today, after my painting class, the man from the Medical Supply place called to tell me they were bringing Beth's new Hi-Lo bed, so I went over there, and they swapped out the other hospital bed for the new one.  We hope she can get into and out of this one.  It was HOT here today---98 degrees!---and Beth's trailer was suffocatingly hot.  So I moved her furniture around to clear a path so she could drive her power chair up to her air conditioner to turn it off and on.  By the time I got all that done, I was too late to go to my ladies' Bible study at church.  :(  Such is life, I guess.

I'm so sorry, Laura and Alma, Marilyn and Ruth, for the abuse and hurts you have suffered.  And I can say truthfully that I understand, as I also once had an abusive husband.  But God still loves His daughters, and He doesn't want any of us living in those circumstances.  Here is a big cyberhug for all of you! (((((hugs)))))

Larry, I am disappointed with you that your son didn't follow through and go sing with you.  But we will all keep praying, and God will gently draw him back to Himself.  Yours and Pat's lives are the example you son needs to see lived out before him.

Marilyn, I wish I could go for a walk there where you took that photo.

I need to work on my reunion newsletter some, so I will write more tomorrow.  Pleasant dreams, all!
