Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept Thy word.
Psalm 119:67

The Psalmist recognized in his suffering God's hand of chastening.

He did not question God's goodness, but saw in it the means of his correction.

Trials of this life drive us to God's Word for guidance, sustenance, encouragement and rebuke. God never wastes the difficulties of life,
instead using them to conform us to Christ's image (Rom. 8:28-29).

"For whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth" (Heb. 12:6).
--Keith Keyser

We cannot always trace the way,
where Thou our gracious Lord dost move;
But we can always surely say
that God is love.
When clouds hang o'er our darkened path,
we'll check our dread, each doubt reprove;
For here each saint sweet comfort hath,
that God is love.
Sir J. Bowering

I Cannot Tell
(Click to hear music]

Psalm 64:10
"The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in Him."

Words by W. Y. Fullerton
Tune Londonderry Air (Traditional Irish Melody)

I cannot tell why He, whom angels worship
Should set His love upon the sons of men,
Or why, as Shepherd, He should seek the wanderers
To bring them back, they know not how or when.
But this I know, that He was born of Mary
When Bethlehem's manger was His only home,
And that He lived at Nazareth and labored,
And so the Savior, Savior of the world, is come.

I cannot tell how silently He suffered
As with His peace He graced this place of tears,
Or how His heart upon the cross was broken,
The crown of pain to three and thirty years.
But this I know, He heals the broken hearted
And stays our sin and calms our lurking fear,
And lifts the burden from the heavy laden,
For yet the Savior, Savior of the world, is here.

I cannot tell how He will win the nations,
How He will claim His earthly heritage,
Or satisfy the needs and aspirations
Of east and west, of sinner and of sage.
But this I know, all flesh shall see His glory,
And He shall reap the harvest He has sown,
And some glad day His sun will shine in splendor
When He the Savior, Savior of the world, is known.

I cannot tell how all the lands shall worship
When at His bidding every storm is stilled,
Or who can say how great the jubilation
When all the hearts of men with love are filled.
But this I know, the skies will thrill with rapture,
And countless voices then will join to sing.
And earth to heaven, and heaven to earth will answer:
"At last the Savior, Savior of the world, is King!"

Speaking of pets, my sweet Dinah cat is nowhere to be seen since we got home. :(  I really love that cat, she is my all time favorite because she loves ME and loves sitting on my lap.  She has babies somewhere around here that we haven't found yet, so I hope she's just busy being a good mommy cat.  But I hope she comes back.

Pat, thank you for putting in Great is Thy Faithfulness.  I love that hymn, and had enjoyed hearing a young man sing it today on Life Today during the few minutes I had the TV on while eating a little lunch.  Also thank you for the poem, very encouraging.

My friend Pat (the Ulysses one) cut and colored my hair for me today, and another sweet friend from church made dinner for us---burritos with green chili.  She also prayed with and for me.  She does understand my heart, as she lost her little 8 year old daughter in January, during the time we were away in Mexico.  God is faithful, He gives us special people in our lives to uphold us when we are hurting and in need of a "word in season."

I love you all so much, and thank you for taking the time to post your loving and encouraging words.  I keep thinking there is no way I can cry more, but I do.  My eyes are burning really bad tonight, so I will go put some drops in them.

I took Beth's little dog to her in the hospital, and the nurses all said they were "secret agents" and kept it quiet that she was in Beth's room.  She got to keep her from early morning until 12:30, and then we picked her up.  She spent the entire time on Beth's lap.  That little dog is so much comfort to Beth.  Beth seems to be getting more resigned to her plight, still not at all happy about it, but who would be?  It is very hard. :(  Pastor Kurt called me tonight and said he will visit Beth tomorrow.

I'm wrung out, so going to bed now.  Good night, dear ones.

Hi Janet, so sorry to hear about all the bad news concerning Beth.  It is such a hard time.  Even though it is not the same I can remember putting my Father in the hospital.  He didn't want to stay and almost cried to come home.  I know it is heart wrenching, but looking back I can see God's hand in it all.  I will be praying that God will give you, Darrell and Beth PEACE.   HIS PERFECT PEACE as you wait on God.

Love Ruthie

Yes Pat & Judy I know who stole the show at Pat's wedding 45 years ago.  It was my 1 year old daughter Bonnie Ruth.  Because she was all dressed in white, she fit right into the wedding.   With her fancy white dress, fancy white pants, and white shoes and socks she insisted on bending over and doing somersaults and showing off her pretty fancy pants.  Well that kept the guests at the reception entertained for a long time.  It was a fun day and we all had a wonderful time.  Wow Pat 45 years ago.

Glad you're feeling better.

Begonia.....for now, anyway.  I am amazed at how beautiful this great flower can be.

And Janet, I will continue to pray.  God bless you, and give you peace, and rested eyeballs.

It's hard to believe, but it's raining here in N. California - and supposed to continue doing so until sometime Sunday night.

Janet - Beth is where our Lord would have her, and He will be there with her.  Oh tell her how important prayer is - how God uses it and blesses it - for she will have much time for it now, and it is the one very useful thing she can still do.  Go often to tell her the prayer needs and to tell her how they've been answered.  She needs to feel useful - and she IS!  The other way in which she'll be useful still is in receiving ministry from others.  To be a receiver can be a blessing to many.  She still has a place in this world, and it is the place in which God Himself will meet her.  Oh Father, make Beth aware that You are there right with her in all her hours.

Janet

Al, thank you for that.  You know, I had never thought about receiving of ministry also being a blessing.  And why not?  I know that being a gracious receiver in other areas blesses the givers.....so THANKS!!  I will surely pass on your wise words to Beth.

Hi, Ruthie, good to "see" you, and thanks.  And your description of the little "panty flasher" at the wedding---I can just see her, in my mind's eye.  :) ;)

And Kevin---thanks---my eyeballs do feel better this morning!  ::)

I found my cat!!  :)  I was SO happy to see her!  She is really gaunt and was hungry.  I found her upstairs in the storage room, and I know her kittens are up there too, but couldn't find them...yet.

I must go get Beth some clean clothes and take them and her dog to the hospital.  I do hope she is feeling more cheerful today

I had a nice long conversation with Curtis last night.  Hearing him say "I sure do love you, Grams" always makes me feel better.  :)

I hope all of you are enjoying your ....Saturday, isn't it? :-\  My days really got confused this week..

:)  I'll never forget Bonnie at the wedding.  It was so cute.  And she DID want to show off her frilly white pants.  For a just over one year old, she was so active running around.

Yes, 45 years ago today was so hot.  It was nice that the reception was in the church basement where it was cooler.

Then Murray and Grace "kidnapped" Jack and I and instead of taking us to the Union Station for our train, he and Grace drove us all the way to Lindsay where we were spending the honeymoon.  LOL

Ahhhh, sweet memories and they are lovely.

Thanks for your words to Janet today, Al.  I found them very helpful as well and that is the way Jack felt when he was ill.  The Lord can use us in whatever state we find ourselves.

So happy that Beth's dog can spend time with her.

Maybe we should open a Flower topic just for our lovely flowers over the summer?

Have you all clicked on the hymn I put in today?  What a lovely rendition of Londonderry Air.  I have it playing here and the words to they hymn are so precious.  I've just been rethinking them.

Makes me upset to listen to all the hype about the DaVinci Code and what they are trying to do to my Saviour, my precious Heavenly Father.

GÔ¿ÔD morning.  My favorite flower is the Hibiscus!  Such a showy flower if they are the dinner place size!

I have already had coffee and conversation with Ivalou.  She brought over her cup of coffee and we talked and talked and talked.

It is bright and sunny in central Indiana today!  I have a load of laundry on the line outside.  It is a little nippy but does feel so good without rain!  We had rain for 10 days straight but then this day isn't over yet.

Ali misses me when I am gone.  She is on the desk between the monitor and me.  She keeps looking at me as if she is saying, 'I missed you.  Don't leave me again!'  Now she keeps head-butting my hand!  So cute.

Janet, I am so happy that Beth is seeing and holding Mieka.  Some nursing homes allow pets....wouldn't that be great when Beth gets moved if that is allowed.  But don't get her hopes up just yet!

Busy day....movin' on!  Gotta getter done!

Thanks Etta Sue for that little "Read Your Bible Today" graphic.  I'm about to go and read more of Romans with Al Moak's wonderful notes on it.  I've so enjoyed them this month.

I just realized that if you go to my profile and look at the map of where I live, the indicator shows my house with my garage below it.  To the right are some trees and then my sister's house.  Next to her is my brother's house with his big garage below it.  You can see the power line towers also.  The vertical streaks on the land below is where the Sod Farmer has removed sod.  Then if you scroll down, you will see the woods where we have reunions and weiner roasts.

Now you know how close my brother and sister are to my house!  And we are out in the boonies...sorta!

I love this fast internet service....takes no time at all to load up those maps!!

Good Morning; I was here earlier but Cyberspace ate my post so I  left. I couldn't' even go back and get it.

Today is my Dear DIL's birthday so I am going out to Blue Lake after I leave Fay's.

Things are sure getting tight financially and I could sure use some prayer. Fay's hours have been cut to 54 per month and I get 25.5 from Leroy. I was getting 85 from Fay but her Social Worker cut the hours. So I will only be there 2.5 per per day 5 days per week.  I am not going to drop Fay I promised  her that I would stay with her until her demise. Good Care Providers are hard to find especially for Fay.

Janet after I read your earlier post this morning, I just felt so inadequate to say anything. ll I can say to you is that I will continue to pray.

We are having a cool and cloudy morning.  The Pest Control was going to come and re-spray as Carpenter Ants are doing a number on the house.  No damage, lots of ants!  The first spray didn't work well enough...made them more angry than dead!!  Anyway, Amanda & I are not feeling so swift and it meant six hrs. out of the house again....so was left to be re-scheduled.   Seems this is a very bad year for ants and a good year for Pest Control Co.'s.

Yes, I will pray about your problem, Marilyn.  Actually, do so on a fairly regular basis anyway.  Understand how difficult things are and how quickly one's life can change.  The prayers of others have always been a big help in my own life....

Wonder if there is really any need to be concerned about the Da Vinci Code book or movie, even tho' it is offensive to us Christians.  Both have been refuted by most reputable scholars....and it is only another work of fiction!  Lets remember that Christianity has had countless such assaults over the many years.  Not likely in 2000 yrs. anyone will remember the author, Dan Brown..... :)

Making Chicken Soup...so must go and tend the pot.

Pleasant Day/Evening all and God Bless.

Hello folks, just back from two weeks in Germany, weather was fantastic, but always nice to come home, first thing is a nice cup of tea!
Then a snooze!

Carol

Nice picture!!!

I did write earlier in the day but could not get it posted.  Now I have forgotten just what I wrote.  It must not have been important.

Don has taken the grands on a short drive & they get to pick out a movie rental.  If I do go, it is on Tuesdays at the grocery store when they rent for 50 cents.  We are much more into reading it seems.  Both of us have read the D. Brown books & they are well-written - all fiction, of course.  I have heard that more people are now going to church just because the subject of the life of Jesus is being talked about - maybe this is the backlash??  Do you think?

Marilyn:  I know that you need more hours with this cut back - perhaps another job will come along, & one that will fill your needs perfectly.  Otherwise, is everything else going good for you?

Both grands are being so helpful.  Reid spent hours at school washing cars for the school charity & I am not sure what that was designated for this year.

Carol

Marilyn

Carol everything is going fine. I just got back from purchasing a new lawn mower. I went to Blue Lake and my son blessed me with $100 toward a mower. I didn't know how much he had blessed me with until I got away from his house. God is so good. Although my son said God had nothing to do with it that it was just him looking out for his mother. Little does he know

Please remember me in prayer when you think about it,  twisted my right hip  and sit sure hurts to walk.

Chris  love your little Yorkie.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is getting late so will try to be brief, although that seems to be a hard thing for me to do.

I have been very busy since seeing in the Fry's ad yesterday morning that they had a super Compaq Presario computer, 100 gig harddrive, 512 megs memory and an AMD CPU for $250 after rebate.  Pat's computer is going ton 7 years old and I knew its days were numbered.  So I purchased the computer and have been busy putting in all of the software she wanted and copying over her files.  I got it finished about 3 pm today.  I also got a 512 meg memory stick for $15 but it has a $15 rebate so it will basically be free when I get the refund.  Her new computer is so much faster than her old one.  It even has a CD writer/DVD player.  Her old computer didn't have Windows XP on it and that came with the computer.

Etta Sue, I had a close call yesterday when I went to turn in my housing development.  I looked in my rear view mirror as I slowed to turn and saw a pickup coming much too fast and that he wouldn't be able to stop since I had to let oncoming traffic clear.  So I hit the gas and drove on to avoid him hitting me.

Janet, I am sure being able to see her dog is a great comfort to Beth.  I remember how the folks in the care center where my folks were when one man brought his dog in and made rounds with the dog each week.

Time to retire for the night.

Pat

Wish we could get deals like that up here, Larry!

Sounds fantastic.
