Morning Devotional...

Preaching:
Preach the Person of God

He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.
--Romans 4:20-21

My faith does not rest on God's promises. My faith rests upon God's character. Faith must rest in confidence upon the One who made the promises....

When I think of the angels who veil their faces before the God who cannot lie, I wonder why every preacher in North America does not begin preaching about God--and nothing else.

What would happen if every preacher just preached about the person and character of God for an entire year--who He is, His attributes, His perfection, His being, the kind of a God He is and why we love Him and why we should trust Him? I tell you, God would soon fill the whole horizon, the entire world.

Faith would spring up like grass by the water courses. Then let a man get up and preach the promises of God and the whole congregation would join in chorus: "We can claim the promises; look who made them!" This is the confidence; this is the boldness.
Dr. Tozer in Faith Beyond Reason, 45.

"Lord, begin with me. I commit myself today to knowing You more fully and preaching and teaching Your person and character as the foundation of faith. Let confidence and boldness be my testimony.
Amen."

Good morning everyone.  It is pretty dull outside, but it has cheered my heart to read the posts from last night.  It is a great encouragement to see how you Christian people are dealing and have dealt with devastating problems.  Thank you all for your faith.

The devotional was very timely this morning Pat, I do so agree that we can trust in God because of His character - He will never lie.

Marilyn, thanks for the comments and for the welcome.  My mother is struggling hard against her infirmities and also trying to fight the depression that often comes with prolonged ill health.  I am trying to support her in this fight.  Thank you so much for your concern.  I am sorry to hear of your problems and I do hope that you can continue without having to take on more work.

Janet, thank  you for your comments too.  It is nice to hear that I have been missed.  I do trust that today will bring some encouragement to Beth as she continues to go through so much suffering.

God bless to the rest of you and thank you again for all of the encouragement that you are giving.

Anthony.

Adri

Good Morning All  :)

Thank you for the morning devotional, Pat.

Things have been quite hectic here...The place I work for are on the brink of shutting it's doors. My employer has started a new business though and says that I shouldn't worry as he will make sure that I still have a job if the worst case does happen. The only thing is that we don't know if the new venture will be succesful or not. It's still a difficult and touchy subject for all involved. So I can't speak to him about it at the moment, for now my future is very uncertain...but I still manage to smile and sing through it all...God is good all the time and in this I know He will do what's right for me, even if it doesn't always feel that way.

Other than that things have been gr8. I love winter...it's come early this year...lovely! Just wish I could stay in bed with a good book and a cup of steaming Milo...

Have a nice day all and hope to pop in again soon

Lots of Love

Adri  :rose:
When life beats you down...ask God to beat it right back.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I want to post here this morning early as have a number of things on the plate for today.  This being Friday, I will pick up my neighbor next door and he and I will go to the Senior Center to unlock and start the coffee.  We always look forward to Friday morning and see friends we do not see all week.

We had quite a storm about 6:15 yesterday with hail and heavy rain.  We lost power for about 2 hours.  Pat and I went to Wendy's to get something to eat and our daughter called and said the power was back on.  I don't know how many times I flipped the switch out of habit while the power was off.  It was in the mid 80's yesterday and after the storm was probably 60 degrees.

Adri, we have been missing your postings.  Sorry to see that things are tough for you but it looks like you are holding on and hopefully the new company will do well.

Anthony, thanks for providing the update on your mother's condition.  Are you still doing a lot of photography?

Pat, thanks for the fine devotional today.  It was a good one and so on the mark.

Janet, you really frightened us (I know it wasn't intentional) with the news of the wreck.  It was so good to read further on that your daughter and SIL are all right as it sounds like it was a very bad wreck.  Also glad to hear that things may be stabilizing with Beth and she is seeing a ray of light in her new treatment plan.  It won't take her long to get to know the staff there.  Hope you were able to rest last night.

Marilyn, good news on getting a few more hours of work to help with the monthly expenses.  You are fortuante to work in an area where there always seems to be a demand.  I know you would have preferred not to work more hours but know you are thankful that you are able to do so.

Alma, sorry to hear that you and your daughter weren't able to see the doctor yesterday and sure hope her child is much better today.  I have always felt that uncertainty is harder on you than knowing the truth in a health situation.  Once you know the situation you can begin to cope with it and seek the treatment needed.

Ruth Ann, your life story is a wonderful testimony to the power of God's love and the strength to be derived from it.

JudyB, it is exciting to read of Melura's faith walk as a young person and I know she will be an example to others.

It looks like it will be a pretty day here in Georgia.  Talk with you all later.

Anthony

I've just been out for a couple of hours and thought I would pop back to see if anyone had posted.  Hi Adri I don't think I've met you before.  It's heartening to hear that you don't have to lose your job, praise God for His provision.  Did I understand you correctly when you said about Winter coming early -  Winter already?  What part of the world are you from?  Summer is just starting here.

Larry, it sounds like a bad storm you had.  I am glad no-one was hurt at least.  Thanks for the comments about my mom, and I haven't done any photography at all for ages.  I had thought of saving up for a new digital camera - perhaps that would give me the incentive I need to get started again.

God bless all and I look forward to your fellowship through today.

Anthony

BTW, how does we get the temperature and time graphic at the bottom of the page?

Good Morning Everyone...

I have my :coffee: and so I thought I'd sit here with you and read the posts and they say "Good Morning" before I start my day.

Adri, so good to see your post!  We so love it when both you and your father pop in to greet us and tell us your news over there in South Africa.  Thanks.  I will be praying for your job situation.

Larry, sounds as if you might have a busy day ahead of you.  You take it easy and get lots of little rests.

Anthony, so good to see you.  Janet and I were chatting maybe 2 or 2 1/2 weeks ago wondering how you and Mum were and it's so nice to see you now here.

Oh, as you can see above, Adri is in South Africa (I think Elizabethtown).

Anthony, if you click on my little weather thingy, you can navigate around that site and put in your city and then there's a place where it says something like, "Get this for my site".  We've chosen the small ones.  I so enjoy seeing what time it is in other parts of the world and the weather they are having.

If anyone needs help, just drop me a PM and I'll help you put it in.

That's good news about the "no blockages" in your husband's heart.  That's so good to hear.  Now we just pray that they will find the cause of his troubles.

Good morning!  So good to see Pat, Larry, Adri, Babycakes, and Anthony, all "up and at 'em" early today!  ;D

I'm feeling quite encouraged this morning.  It says above the devotional "I pray every day for revival".......for the past few weeks I have been praying daily for SURVIVAL!  :-\  Oh, the love of our God, which reaches out to us through our brothers and sisters in the Lord.  How ever do people make it in this life without knowing God?

Larry, if you were frightened by that news, can you imagine how I felt?  :o  I almost passed out, felt the blood all drain from my head and had to sit down!  But, my, the relief that came with learning the truth.  Whew!  I know God has promised not to allow us to suffer more than we can handle (with His help, of course) but for a moment there, I wondered.........  Praise His Name, God is good, all the time.  I hope you have a great Friday, Larry.  You are such a dependable person, and we do appreciate all you do to help Pat with this site.

And, speaking of helping Pat.........have you all noticed the support button at the left?  Pat pays the cost of CP out of her own meager funds, and while she never complains, I know help with some money would be so appreciated.

(Now, Pat, please don't  :clobber: me!)

Darrel is going to Manhattan today with Jeff, they are taking our enclosed trailer and are going to move Curtis' and Toni's things from their two apartments to the house they have rented for after they get married in June.  They will leave only a couch for Curt to sleep on until the big day. ::)

I need to go to Alco to get a few things for Beth.  We are waiting to hear if Dr. Plumlee will be successful in getting her moved into the larger room, hate to take too much stuff for her walls, etc., and then have to move it all.  She needs some knee-hi hose, they think maybe they can get her shoes on with those.  She was so much more cheerful after her session in physical therapy.  I don't know why, exactly, as she has had a lot of PT before.  Maybe she is just realizing how important it really is to her future.

I'm stopping now, before this becomes a boring book!  :-[

Well Hallelujah it's morning. God is so good.

This is the second time He has given me a job within hours of asking for His help in a financial situation. I can't wait to see the look on Fay's face when I tell her this morning. I just told her yesterday morning that I was going to seek another client. Now I have 5 clients.

However, it goes like this Fay gets 2½, Margaret and Dale get 1½-2 hours and Leroy gets 1-1½ hours per day. Leroy gets 3 days per week, Margaret and Dale get 4, Fay gets 5 and the Jan get Tuesdays 4 hours or more if she needs more. So you see I will not be overwhelmed with work I will still be getting home  by 3 at the latest.

Praise God He is so good. All the time.

Wow Anthony twice  already today.  <3

Adri I have often wondered whee you were and if you are doing OK. It is good to hear that you will be able to keep your job.

Hi Pat great devotional this morning.

I am in full agreement with Mr. Tozer More preachers should preach the promises of God and more people should stand on those promises.

Papa John

Good morning everyone.  Sorry I haven't been here the last few days.  Yesterday, Cornelia's sister left to go back to Denver.  It has really been good for Cornelia for her to be here.  Our daughter, Martha, teaches school and today is her last day until August.  When Cornelia got sick she took off from work for five weeks and since she went back to work our daughter, Rachel, has been coming every day.  It won't be long until Cornelia will be back to her old self.  She is no longer using the walker but has graduated to a cane and she has gradually regained strength.  We thank God she has done so well from that night in January when the doctors told us they didn't think she would live through the night.

It is good to see everyone and so nice to have Anthony back with us as well as Adri.

It seems like only yesterday I reported that our granddaughter, Ruth, was starting to Medical School.  Tonight she will graduate from medical school and get her M.D. -- Dr. Ruth Scoby. They are moving on Monday to Philadelphia where she will be working in a hospital for the next few years. We had planned to be in Memphis today for the graduation but because of Cornelia's sickness we had to cancel.

Pat

Thanks for your message, Alma.

I'm glad to see that you are keeping busy and we'll remember to pray for you in these 4 weeks that you have to wait  till that important doctor's appointment.

That is a wonderful verse Phil. 4:13...

Alma, if you don't see the doctor for 4 weeks I should think that is a very good sign.  My experience has been that when tests show anything major that might need immediate attention I get a call from my doctor's office or the doctor himself saying I need to come in as quickly as possible.

Didn't think I was going to Fry's today but my friend just called and asked if I wanted to go with him as he had burned out his CPU on his computer and needs to get a new one.  He had been installing a quieter cooling fan.  So just waiting for him to arrive.

Anthony

Pat, thanks for the advice on how to get the weather icon.  I think I'll have to P.M. you as I couldn't see how to get it into my messages.  I never noticed the album buttons either, so thanks for that.  I will have to try to take  some photographs again.  It's good to know that you and Janet were thinking of the situation here. I haven't had an Internet connection for 2 months - least said about that the better.

Samantha, nice to hear from you today, but sorry to hear that your husband is poorly and I hope that the doctors sought things out soon.

Janet, good to hear that you are feeling more encouraged today and that Beth seems a little happier.  You do seem to have a lot going on in your life with weddings and everything else.  I trust that everything goes well with these things too.

Marilyn, good to hear that you have answers to prayer with regards to your financial situation, and now this is my third message of the day - wonders will never cease  :D

Good to hear from you Papa John and great to hear that your  wife is regaining strength.  It is  sometimes good to hear that the doctors got it wrong.

Alma, it is nice to hear you sounding so very possitive today.  God seems to make a way through all of the storms doesn't He.  God continue to bless you and your family (10,000 sq ft - that's some lawn).

Nice to see you posting again Larry.

Just looking forward to a relaxing evening - I will pop back later on.

God bless,

Anthony.

"He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things."

Janet

Alma, I was thinking just what Larry said---if the Doctors felt this was an emergency for Audra, they would see her immediately!  I know at least five young women here in my small town who have had similar scares (pre)diagnoses, and all are healthy and whole today.  Cryosurgery usually does the trick!  I'm continuing to pray, though, just so you know.

Papa John, it really doesn't seem possible that Dr. Ruth is graduating already!  How time does fly.  So glad Cornelia is doing well.  And I bring you a hug and a hello from our dear Mieka.  She was inquiring about Cornelia, too.

My apologies to everyone here.....Mieka asked me to give you her love.  She mentioned by name nearly everyone on CP!  ;)  She is very happy to be at her home in California at this time.

I must go see Beth again, they said they changed her number in her room to her home #, but I can't get through, and John asked me about it too, says he's been trying to call her for 3 days.

I will be back................

Just popping in to say goodbye before retiring (going to bed).  Thank you all for the fellowship once again.  I've been looking through some of the other areas of the forum today and yesterday.  I had forgotten how much there was on C.P.  See y'all tomorrow.

Hi, friends,

I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend. Certainly, with the broom, mop and dustcloth in hand, but being physically able to clean house is a blessing in itself.

I read all the posts while I had a bit of down time at work, but am not allowed to post from there, so suffice it to say, I love all of y'all and am praying with you through these crises.

Thanks to God for Papa John's report and for Marilyn's new working situation. And, that the terrible news of the wreck did not overpower Janet.

Each of us, in our own lives are coming out as survivors and, yes, overcomers. Praise to Him who leads us all.

I would love to read a post from Mieka - has she forgotten how to post here?

I am back home again in Indiana....sounds like a song, hunh?  Everything was great.  For two days that it was predicted to have plenty of wetness falling from the sky, it sure was sunny.  Only rained on us maybe 2 minutes today!

Now to rest up so I can drive them back up next week.

I have read all the posts but too many to comment about....just be rest assured that you are all in my prayers.  Families pray for their members and we are all family here.  God Bless You All.

And welcome back...those who haven't posted for awhile!  Welcome Back!

Just wanted to stop in a share some good news regarding our daughter.  Yesterday I alluded that we were awaiting test results today and I am happy to say they came back negative for the ovarian cancer the doctor was afraid she had.  It appears to be a cyst and is responding to the treatment plan the doctor prescribed.  This has been a long week awaiting the blood tests to come back.  We are thankful for all the prayers that have been offered on her behalf.  We were very worried.

I received this from a friend in the Kitchener area.  We laughed here and considering there are a lot of retirees here thought you would laugh too!

Dear Mrs. Fenton,

Over the past six months, your husband, Mr. Bill Fenton has been causing quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this type of behavior and have considered banning the entire family from shopping in any of our stores.

We have documented all incidents on our video surveillance equipment.  Three of our clerks are attending counselling from the trouble your husband has caused. All complaints against Mr. Fenton have been compiled and are listed below.

Mr. Wally Underpants
President and CEO of Wal-Mart Complaint Department

--------------------------------------------------------
MEMO

Re: Mr. Bill Fenton - Complaints - 14 Things Mr. Bill Fenton has done while his spouse/partner is shopping:

1. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals.

2. July 7: Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the rest rooms.

3. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official tone, 'Code 3' in housewares..... and watched what happened.

4. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and asked to put a bag of M&M's on lay away.

5. September 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area.

6. September 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told other shoppers he'd invite them in if they'll bring pillows from the bedding department.

7. September 23: When a clerk asks if they can help him, he begins to cry and asks Why can't you people just leave me alone?'

8. October 4: Looked right into the security camera; used it as a mirror, and picked his nose.

9. November 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, asked the clerk if he knows where the antidepressants are.

10. December 3! : Darted around the store suspiciously loudly humming the "Mission Impossible" theme.

11. December 6: In the auto department, practiced his "Madonna look"  using different size funnels.

12. December 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browse through, yelled "PICK ME!" "PICK ME!"

13. December 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumes the fetal position and screams "NO! NO! It's those voices again!!!!"

(And; last , but not least!)

14. December 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door and waited a while; then, yelled, very loudly, "There is no toilet paper in here!"
