JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Worship:
The Normal Employment of Moral Beings

The twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: "You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created."

--Revelation 4:10-11

All of the examples that we have in the Bible illustrate that glad and devoted and reverent worship is the normal employment of moral beings.

Every glimpse that is given us of heaven and of God's created beings is always a glimpse of worship and rejoicing and praise because God is who He is.

The apostle John in Revelation 4:10-11 gives us a plain portrayal of created beings around the throne of God....

I can safely say, on the authority of all that is revealed in the Word of God, that any man or woman on this earth who is bored and turned off by worship is not ready for heaven.
Dr. Tozer in Whatever Happened to Worship?, 13.

"Lord, please don't let me ever become bored with worship! I pray that today--and throughout this month--You might enhance my vision of Your glory and draw me into heartfelt worship. Amen."

God bless everyone today on C.P.  I have been to the morning's prayer meeting, but could not really stay for the service because of the situation at home.  It was a good prayer meeting and the person who led read from that Psalm that states that we should give God the glory that is due to His name.  That kind of fits in with the morning's devotional.  Praising God is a good theme to dwell upon isn't it.  Count your many blessings and name them one by one - that's what the hymnist encourages us to do.

I'm sorry I can't reply to all of the messages from last night, I am afraid I'm in a bit of a rush today.  Just to ask God's blessing on Janet as she goes away for the week.

Have a great day everyone.

Anthony.
"He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things."
(Romans 8: 32)

Papa John

Good morning Pat and Anthony.  I was up early this morning and had my coffee, cereal, and orange juice.

Yesterday Cornelia and I went to a special prayer meeting at church.  Cornelia drove over there and I drove back.  This morning we are going to church for the first time without a daughter to drive us.  Cornelia still needs the walker to walk except in the house.  We thank God everyday for the progress she has made.

Heb 10:24-26
24   And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
25   Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-- and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
26   If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,
(NIV)

Papa John

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Hi everyone from East Lansing, Michigan.  We had a nice trip here after getting through very heavy traffic around Toledo and on I-94.  Yesterday we got in my cousin's van and went to Traverse City and the area around there, including a lovely light house and then into a sand dune Naitonal Park.  There was a very interesting 12 point drive around the National Park.  We left at 11 am and it was 12:35 am this morning before we got back here to the house.  We have spent a lot of time in the car and tomorrow we start on our trip home, which will be around 16 hours.  We will probably drive a long day tomorrow so we will have a shorter day of driving ont he second day.

I have read all the messages but don't have time to comment today.  It is time for breakfast.

Glad you got to see a part of our wonderful state.  The Traverse City area is especially pretty......when the cherry trees are in full bloom.

As for the traffic...US 23 Southbound is not much better around Toledo....bridge replacement ties up traffic at the I-475 by-pass.  Traffic on S.B. I-75 should be decent today...less truckers.

A good way to go home from Lansing is EB I-96 to SB I-275 to I-75 (near Monroe Mi.)  The slowdown will be by between mile marker 18 and 13 of I-75.  If you decide to take I-96 to US 23 the biggest tie-up will be about 10 miles inside the Ohio border at the I-475 by-pass.  US 23 blends into I-75 south of Toledo.

With all the road repairs each year in Michigan it is no wonder that the state flower is now the "orange barrel"  Being a perennial, it pops up every spring and leave again in the fall....

I am ashamed to say that both of us talked about being "unimpressed"  with the new pastor's sermon last night.  We got more out of the mid-week Spirituality sessons with a retired pastor but that isn't going anymore.  Also, the co-pastor has been improving in leaping bounds on his speaking.

Anthony:  The plan for you may have been to make contact with that one person - the one you have not seen in a long time.  Don't be discouraged.

Larry:  Good to see you back from that long drive.  It must have been beautiful in the springtime.

Pat:  I hope that you have a wonderful Sunday!  That was nice for you to be able to visit with your bro-in-law.  Too bad that Judy couldn't have been there as well.  How far from each other do you live?

Hi Everyone...

Been a busy morning here.

Now, I can't believe that the afternoon is half gone.

Just a little favour please, could you all make a point of going to the Introductions area and posting welcomes to our new folks?  I really appreciate what you can do in this regard.

We've had three new members in the last couple of days.

We had a surprise this morning.  Pastor Jimmy ..... from Nairobi Kenya was speaking.  (I can't say or spell his last name!)  He has part of his original flock in oour church.  He makes a point of making a trip to other countries to meet with his flock and encourage them. From here he will be going to Toronto then on to the States,  He mentioned also going to Europe to see others of his flock.  Such devotion!
He introduced himself as Pastor Jimmy the husband of one wife!   Was he ever good and a message worth listening to.  His church in Nairobi started with a small building and a couple of benches.  They outgrew that church so they purchased land and built a bigger church.  They outgrew that church and they again built bigger.  Today they need 2 morning services to accomodate the growth.  And preach, he preaches the gospel, the nitty gritty gospel.  The gospel that many churches don't preach today as it isn't socially acceptable.  He ended his message with a challenge.  A true story that he heard, he told us to pass it on.

A group of Christians built a huge cage and put 4 monkeys into it.  At the top of the cage they put delicious ripe bananas  Every time the monkeys jumped to get the bananas they activated a sensor that caused them to have water dumped on them.  They didn't like the water so they quit jumping for the bananas.  The people took one monkey out and put in a new monkey.  Every time it would jump for a banana the old monkeys would attack it and stop it by biting it The new monkey would stop jumping to retrieve the good delicious bananas.   They took out a second monkey and the same thing happened.  the interesting thing was the previous new monkey also stoppeed the new monkey from going after the bananas.  They eventually replaced all the monkeys.  None of the new monkeys went after the bananas, because when they did they wound up hurt and bleeding.

He told us marriage is like that.  The world has told us that it is impossible to get those bananas, and keep the freshness in a marriage relationship.  The world has told us that marriage won't last.  Thus we give up. marriages end, and people get hurt.  He challenged us to keep going after the good delicious bananas, the freshness and longevity in marriage.  And we would be rewarded with a marriage that will be "till death do us part!".
My response was wow.  What an example of this truth.   John didn't go to church today so when he arrived after the service, I introduced Pastor Jimmy.  His first question was "And how long have you been married?"  There is a church and a pastor that will be prayed for in this home.

Have a good day folks

What a good illustration, Judy! Thanks for sharing it.

Rainbow, when I was very young, I participated in both street gatherings and in services held in a local penal institution. I remember once singing a very old song (The Old Ship of Zion) as a young girl on a chair between my mother and dad. My mom played the accordion and they taught me to sing tenor, mother sang alto and daddy the lead part.

Then, when I was 10, he took a church to pastor, and for 50 years thereafter I played the piano for Nazarene churches - morning, night, revivals, baptisms, infant dedications, and funerals.

At age 14, I had the rare privilege of being asked to play the piano for a funeral of the most prominent lady in that small town. It was an outdoor funeral on the lawn of the old victorian hotel - I got to play on a more than a hundred years old box grand piano made of rosewood. There were stains on it from the War Between the States, when the hotel had been commandeered by troops and the piano was used as an operating table.

My, goodness! Such tales I'm telling today. I guess I got on a reminiscing "binge."

Y'all have a good day.

Good morning!  Well, it is morning here in Japan, Monday morning.  Our son, Casey is back from the states, after being away for 1 year and 3 months ;D ;D ;D .  Lots of hugs to catch up on!

Pat thank you for the good devotional.  After my busy and emotional weekend, it was a pleasure to sit and chew on the good Word.

I'm not sure why but afterwards, some of the lyrics from one of my favorite songs came to mind.

from The Refuge by SonicFlood

I take my shelter in the shade of Your wings
I take my pleasure in the hope that You bring
I take my weakness to the foot of the cross
I take my refuge where I can get lost

Ive enjoyed reading all your posts this afternoon.  Papa John - I am so pleased that Cornelia is able to continue driving.  This is wonderful.  Did she have to have a special test?
Here in Ontario, once you turn 80, you are tested again. I'm glad I'm aways from being 80, as I wonder if I would pass....LOL

Ed:  I had a friend who lived in Traverse City Michigan.  My son lives in Rochester Hills, Mi.  Do you know where that is?

Janet - where are you headed to ?  Sounds like Beth is able to have her dog with her.....GREAT!

Judy B. - that was such an excouraging post.  I would have loved to have heard Pastor Jimmy.

Good Day everyone. Good to see all of you posing, Judy MC and Ruth Ann. I have been listening to the radio on my computer, My DIL is working at a music festival down at Benbow Lake in Southern Humboldt county and I am listening to it her at home.

Well I am sure praying for God to bless this financial situation for my Rent $$, I am and almost half of my rent short this month due to my hours being cut and missing 3 days of work in the middle of May. I know He isn't going to let me lose this house because He (God)gave it to me.

I was just talking to a dear friend who has adopted our girls as their grand daaughters.  I was a little down, and talking was a really good pick me up.

I have had a quiet day at home so far today.  It is rather nice to be able to r and r on the Lords Day.

I am off for the balance of the evening.
Night all and have a really God rest tonight!
