Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

  Philippians 2:13.  "For it is God Who  works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure."

One of the absolutely wonderful aspects of Jesus' character was His perfect self control.  He most certainly had emotions.  Listen to Him speaking sharply to the religious leaders of His day.  He said, "Woe to you Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!  For you devour widows houses and for a pretense make long prayers!  Therefore you will receive greater condemnation."  Or hear him say, "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the  prophets and stones those who  are sent to her!  How often I wanted to gather your shildren together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing."  And the shortest verse in the Bible: "Jesus wept."

He felt sorrow, anger, and love - but always in perfect righteousness, always in perfect control.  He felt strongly, but He controlled His tongue and actions.  Do you?  Do I?  I fear that we are not quite always in control.  Sometimes, in fact, we simply let go, and our emotions drive us to say and do very unrighteous things.

But, dear ones, Jesus Christ dwells in you!  The apostle tells us about it.  He says, "But if the Spirit of Him Who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He Who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you."  He also told us what we must do to experience that spiritual life.  He said, "But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you.  Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His."  We can - through prayer, through more and more acquaintance with Him through His Word, through experience, repentance, and prayer again - overcome the flesh with its lack of self (emotional) control.

It's a long battle, but the fruit of the Spirit will indeed be the self control exhibited by our Lord!  You can because He can.

Cleanse Me
(Click to hear music)

Search me, O God, and know my heart today;
Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts I pray.
See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from ev'ry sin and set me free.

I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin;
Fulfill Thy Word and make me pure within.
Fill me with fire where once I burned with shame;
Grant my desire to magnify Thy name.

Lord, take my life and make it wholly Thine;
Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine.
Take all my will, my passion, self and pride;
I now surrender, Lord--in me abide.

O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee;
Send a revival--start the work in me.
Thy Word declares Thou wilt supply our need;
For blessings now, O Lord, I humbly plead.

Al,

Thanks for the encouraging Word.  I am so glad He lives IN ME!

I have to make a correction.  Yesterday I posted that the song, "My Refuge" was by a group called Delirious.  It is actually by SonicFlood.

And now that that is cleared up, here's a bit more from the same song, that has been in my head for a couple of days.

I worship You, Lord
For all that You are
I stretch out my faith
And lay down my heart
There's no where else
That I'd rather be
Than where there's more You, Lord
And where there's less me

Good Morning everyone!

Wonderful devotional thoughts this morning, Al.   Thanks so much.

Hi Kevin...  Guess you're getting ready to retire for the night.

Everyone, on Photography Cafe, we have a feature entitled, "Centre Stage" and this week, our Kevin is at Centre Stage.  I'd like you to read his little article and there's a lovely photo of his family.

Judy:  Good day!  What a neat service you had and the memories will always stay with you!

Kevin:  Your family is beautiful and now your son, Casey, is home as well so that has to be a wonderful feeling for you.  Where did you have your schooling in Seattle?  That is my home town but we have lived mostly in Colorado for so many years.  Your pictures are wonderful.

This is the tenth day of my soft boot with a hard sole - especially for my foot fracture.  But - who is counting???? me.

Thanks, Pat, for giving us the link to the Phot. Cafe.  I really enjoyed reading all about Kevin.

Kevin - what school did you go to in Seattle?  Do they have a counselling major?  I studied under Jay Adams at Westminster in Phila.

Marilyn

Good Morning I have been over in PC  checking out Kevin and his photos. What beautiful photos Kevin my congratulations on bind in the Center Stage. beautiful family too.

I am all ready to go to work, I am not going to Leroy's today, he took up so much time on Friday that I couldn't go to the new clients, today I am taking the man (Dale) to the doctor. At least I don't have to go to Eureka to do that.

We had a great prayer meeting last evening as well as a great service in the morning. We are moving forward in implementing our ministries into what the New Testament Church was in the book of Acts. Helping one another etc. In fact the Pastor put my financial need before the church and there has already been  a couple of donations toward my rent for his month.  We have a couple there that  have attended  maybe 4 times and they told the pastor after Church that they have been waiting 25 years to hear that message.

Hi Al, Pat, Carol,and Kevin.

Precious Lord, Take My Hand

Words and music by Thomas Dorsey

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God:
I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee
with the right hand of my righteousness.

Isaiah 41:10

Precious Lord, take my hand,
Lead me on, let me stand,
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn;
Through the storm, through the night,
Lead me on to the light:
Take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home.

When my way grows drear,
Precious Lord, linger near,
When my life is almost gone,
Hear my cry, hear my call,
Hold my hand lest I fall:
Take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home.

When the darkness appears
And the night draws near,
And the day is past and gone,
At the river I stand,
Guide my feet, hold my hand:
Take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home.

My High Speed Internet service has been down and even today it is slow than the slowest Dial Up Service.   :clobber:

Yesterday, Ivalou went to church with me.  Then we ate at Cracker Barrel and went to Ohio.  We went to her youngest daughter's house first.  Then to the oldest daughter's daughter's Graduation Party.  It was really fun seeing everyone.  A very nice party.  Then I drove back home with the sun setting on the hood of my car...not fun.

Today, I have been fighting this computer.  I gave up and mowed the lawn and sprayed Weed B Gone on some pesky ground ivy.  I have eaten my lunch...late...and here I am.

Yes, Marilyn...send the Alpha tubes to me.  I will get inventive one of these days!

Hello all!

Here's  alittle trick for you.  If you have a mouse with a scroll wheel, press control and "scroll" the wheel.  The font size changes.  I know some of you have talked about the font being to small or difficult to read, and this seemed to be a quick easy way to get around that!

Kristi is finishing her lunch (trav ahs gone to the garden with his grandparents) so it is time for her  (and mine :P) nap.

Hi Al,

I attended Northwest College of the Assemblies of God.  It is now Northwest University of the Assemblies of God.  I pray that the growth is a good thing for them  ;) .

At the time I was there, my major, the Pastoral Ministries major provided some counseling courses.  Northwest, I believe now, has a counseling major, though.

In addition to my studies at Northwest, I have learned so much from sitting with military chaplains, missionaries, and Japanese pastors here.  One book that I often go to is "Bold Love" by Allender and Longman.  Actually, this book helped me revise some of my thinking about how I counsel.  If it isn't in your library, I highly recommend it.

Let's chat when we can get online at the same time! :coffee:

Marilyn:  The news of your congregation helping you with rent is wonderful.  Your'e going to make it!!! :thumbsup:

Kevin:  I don't recall your school - do you know Seattle Pacific University?  I didn't attend there (could not afford it) but knew many & my parents had a piece of property very close to the once college, now university.  I hope that you enjoyed your years in Kirkland.  I remember when it was a very small community & now my brother wants to go there for lunch if we get together.

Very tired tonight and Don goes fishing tomorrow before 6 A.M.

Had a good day today. Sometimes I think Fay is really losing it. She sure has some strange ideas about doing things and keeps telling me how her mother did things about 100 yrs ago.

I let Leroy's Social Worker know that he should have a male caregiver and that he doesn't even need a caregiver all he needs is a driver.

Willa is doing very well, she went back to the DR. today but they didn't remove the drain tubes yet. She goes back again next Monday.

Margaret my new client (Dale s her husband) gave me some very expensive cookware today. she has several sets  and these are brand new still in the wrapping. There were two stainless steel pots with glass lids and double handles in a gold color. A 10 inch stainless steel chicken frying pan with a glass lid.  We are cleaning her cupboards to condense what she has.

Tomorrow I go to Jan's and we are going grocery shopping to Longs drugstore and out to eat. Then I take Bebe to the Vet in the afternoon.

I'm glad you've enjoyed reading Kevin's "Centre Stage" on Photography Cafe.  Please pray for the members there as they are now hearing about Keving being a Christian and one fellow, especially, seems very interested.

Now, as Janet is away, I'm closing the door early as my daughter, Janice, is here visiting and I'd like to have a cup of tea with her.

Yes, I know SPU well.  I attended a lecture or two there.  And I recently had a young lady in my church here who was a graduate of SPU.  She is back living in the Seattle area now.
