This is one of my third place ribbon winners in the fair this year. It was in the large category of "Sunsets".  

I was SO happy because this was the time, since going digital last year, that I processed and printed my fair entries myself.  I must be doing something right.

Congratulations on your ribbon.  My personal taste would have preferred to see a bit more detail in the shadowed foreground.  Beautiful sunset and cloud formation!  The composition is wonderful with the the canal running diagonally from the left and leading the eye to the sunset in a nice, graceful S curve.  Well done!

I have a version with more detail in the shadows and I don't like it as well.  It cluttered it up more than anything else.  I decided to drop all but the fence into total shadow because it helped emphasize the the shape of the canal.

Maybe it's time for another lesson in Photoshop, Kathleen :)
