Quite a good supermarket, this is Lidl's and its German, and they sell lots of good German food, there is another German supermarket in England called Aldi, a very similar name, that's no coincidence, as the owners are brothers, but they had some sort of quarrel, each went their own way, and set up their own supermarkets, good quality food, Lidl's a little cheaper. The story is that wherever one brother builds a supermarket the other does likewise, straight out of the annals of a German folk tale, but this happens tobe true, this one has only been opened a few weeks.
The building in the background is an old weaving or spinning mill, not sure, as weaving mills are only one or two storeys high, whereas spinning mills are multi storey'd, I think, anyway when I came out of Queens park hospital, this was the first bus that was in so I got on it, and this was the other end of the journey, from there I went into Burnley, and thence to Clitheroe. No sooner had I come out of Booths supermarket, and was making my way to the bus, than a steam train pulled in, and no I only glanced at the side of the engine through thick bushes, it was a steam excursion from somewhere, the loco was either a class 45, or a castle class, both have tapered boilers, there was a huge curved nameplate on the side that I couldn't make out, so I've no idea of the loco. I thought the train had pulled up momentarily as a train had just left the station so I didn't go back, but a few minutes later dozens of people came pouring out of the station, but then it was too late to go the hundred yards back find out what it was and perhaps get a snap of it. Heck it came in that quietly, it took me a minute to realise it was a steam special.

That is quite the history. I do enjoy your history lessons.
It is so neat and tidy looking. I wish the people here in America, at least the ones in my area, would learn what a trash can is for. A lot of them think a car window is a trash can.
Don
Don, yes - and any place along the roadside, no matter how lovely the area.
Every spring one of the local schools takes the grades 6 - 7 - 8 classes and do a spring clean up of the roadsides and ditches. THe local residents don't often throw garbage out the windows, it is the tourists that we have a problem with. Even the youth don't....I think they remember what it was like to have to do the cleanup!
