Title: Light On The Weavers Triangle
Post by: Summicron on April 13, 2010, 06:41:35 PM
One of my favourite pictures, its taken in the weavers triangle area of Burnley, looking along the Leeds Liverpool canal, Margery in Burnley hospital eye ward for six weeks, after visits, time for some Burnley bashing, this night the sky and lighting was spectacular, so I headed up here, the light was just catching bits of the barges and buildings, took several shots ere I departed.

I love the light/shadows of this one Michael.  It is lovely.  Can we see more from that day?

Sumicron, I am impressed by your use of light in most all your photos. This one may well be my favorite thus far. Would that I had such an eye for light.
A very excellent photo.

It's simple, just watch light all the time, watch how it falls on any surface, especially when it falls from the side or behind. The more accute the angle the more interesting the light, i.e. don't just look at the sunset, look what's happening behind you. This picture is simply using light that is almost directly facing the camera but not quite, it is still coming from the left hand side, by reason of the subject it is catching only certain parts of the subject, and because the rest of the picture is in the shade the highlights show up magnificently, if I could paint this would be a huge canvas by now.
