Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

If you're ever in South Carolina, there's this beautiful cypress ecosystem near the city of Florence. A county park--Lynches River.

If you visit Lynches River, be sure to take the Canopy Walk, a series of swinging bridges that takes you from tree to tree over the river.

I visited Lynches River recently was able to get the two above shots from the designated walkways.

Really, though, for me, the most fascinating shots at Lynches were the ones I left the path to find.

On this trip I tested a lens I'd just bought. I was very pleased with image quality.

This was taken at ISO 400, and really, noise was minimal.

Cypress knees are still an enigma. They can only theorize as to what purpose they serve.

What a great series!  I think I'd love to do that canopy walk.  <sigh>  One of these days.

I'd avoid that canopy walk like the plague!  Just looking at the picture of it gives me the willies!

Beautiful area and wonderful series of photos.

I too would love to take that walk, especially that bridge in picture 2.  Wonderful series!

Thanks for your comments. The swinging bridge was really not too scary, unless one of my daughters was on it with me. Two people walking on a swinging bridge tend to want to swing the bridge in two different directions.

I got to playing....

The cypress knees with a little tone mapping. What do you think? Too much?

Here's the original again:

such a beautiful place.

It's kind of like what I would imagine someplace named "Dismal Swamp" to look like. :)  Nice images!

Love those cypress knees.   I like the tonemapping, and the composition is exactly right.   What you perceive as maybe a bit too much, is saturation.  Try desaturating just a bit, and it might help.

Edit, I just tried it, and adjusted curves slightly, and it worked pretty well.
