Title: Nevada.
Post by: Chelly on January 02, 2009, 01:20:33 PM
On a visit to see my father in Nevada, I managed to get at least one fairly good picture.

Oh, my!

I was in Las Vegas for a convention several years ago and your picture above is very similar to the view from the window out of the hotel window.  The distant hills and mountains were so sharp and distinct.

What a lovely photo!  I'm so happy that you've shared it here with us.

Thank you.  :)

I was in a "ghost town" when I took that picture. That very faint outline of the road near the middle of the picture is actually the road to get there. It was quite a trip! But it was fun despite the long drive.

Oh, how I would love to be able to do something like that.

Since we flew from Toronto to Nevada, we didn't have wheels so I only had my view from the Hotel window and I would love to have driven out some way from that city.

Did you get any photos of the buildings in the Ghost Town?  Were there still buildings there?  Oh, what stories they could tell!

I tried to take a few pictures of the buildings, but there were usually the cars of my fellow tourists in the way.

Chelly, I have been to some of those ghost towns in Nevada and southeastern California.  Really interesting and, as Pat observed, what stories those old buildings could tell.

Thanks, so much, for sharing with us.

Those ol' west ghost towns sure do have stories if they could talk.  Been to a few in New Mexico and Arizona.  We found an old Log Cabin syrup can that is somewhere in this house.  Hmmm!  Wonder where I put it?

And welcome, Chelly.  We have lots of fun viewing each others photos!

Thanks for that pic Chelly.  We lived for a few years just about 5 miles from the Nevada border south of Carson City, so Nevada landscapes are quite familiar.  Your photo particularly.

Chelly, good job on the picture. Just looking at a beautiful landscape makes me feel much more relaxed.

Thanks for sharing.

I see it there, Pat.  But why doesn't it show up here?

Beautiful sky!

I don't know, Janet.

Click on "Reload" or hit your CTRL (Control) key and F5 at the same time (Forced Refresh).

Glad you saw it there anyway.

Oh so often I have driven through the desert of Nevada to California.  Such memories this picture has evoked!  WOW.
