Title: Oblivious
Post by: Summicron on December 05, 2007, 10:27:02 PM
This is basically a complete view of those magnifficent park gates in Warrington I included in my gallery, certainly Buckingham Palace hasen't got gates quite like these, no I don't think these gates the celestial city are quite looking for, because the golden angels are actually four statues of the goddess Athena??? I might be wrong there, look it up on the net, just type in Warrington park gates, and you'll come to it.

That is quite the entrance.  Are the figurines gold?  or perhaps brass?

How'd you like to have those for a bedroom door?

Figurines are painted in goldleaf, and boy do they glisten in the sun. Afew notes I picked up.

Warrington's splendid town hall, acquired in the 1870's, was originally a private residence.  Built in 1750, by the Scottish architect, James Gibbs, the house has magnificent golden gates.  The parkland surrounding the Town Hall was Warrington's first public park.

I enjoy the history that goes with this kind of picture it gives us some perspective.  This is a beautiful picture....Can you imagine what the heavenly gates will look like?
