Title: Portland Head Light
Post by: SmokeytheDog on June 07, 2010, 03:44:21 AM
the portland head lighthouse near Portland Maine shot back in early May of this year.

When the wife and I got back from vacation I opened the latest AAA Michigan magazine and there was a photo shot from this exact spot!

A beautiful scene.  And you can certainly see why a warning would be needed to keep ships away from those rocks.

Very typical of the east coast.  Beautiful picture.  Well done!

This is picture-perfect. It meets all the criteria of Landscape Photography. The foreground, the rule of thirds, the color contrast and most of all the composition. Just simply amazing!!
I love everything about this shot.

Yeah, I see you blushing like a Scotchman. Are you Scottish?

Ah, no. My background is Polish and English.

Closest thing to a perfect composition I've seen.   That one needs to be on a wall.   I thought the clouds and the scarred rock deserved a little tone-mapping.

I still like the original version. As the old saying goes, " Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder."

If I had had a DSLR I could have used a polorizing filter for the sky.

It is amazing as it is. I love the contrast between the houses and the sky. And sorry for mistaking you as a Scotchman. You kind of look like a friend of mine from Edinbourgh, Scotland. Take that as a compliment. The guy is a nice person.

Call me unconventional, but I prefer the 1st image over the edit.  Just seems more natural to me.  Very nice image, nice composition and what a beautiful scene.  Nicely done.
