Post by: awolford on December 09, 2008, 06:41:44 PM
I took these on a recent college trip with my son to Jacksonville Florida.

I like both of these. I really like the gate in the second one, and your image of it.

Yes these are two, excellent shots, the first looking over the rooftops has a wonderful sense of place and belonging, like you could make the place your home. The sweeping clouds give a sense of movement and animation, I like the shadows of the aloe vera? sweeping across the roof. and the front side lighting gives depth and moddeling to the whole scene.

Your second picture relies heavily on purely graphical elements, the framework of the decking, the metal fence, and the grasses nicely bent inwards to deck, balances the composition beautifully. Also the limited tonal range heightens the effectbeautifully. All the elements in the picture are well placed, the edge of the picture coincides with the end of the fence just a hint of its second level rise. The gate occupies the dominant place in the puicture, and you have this wonderful diagonal line of steps leading up to the gate, plus the grasses bending and leading the eye in towards the focal point of the gate itself.

I love your work.  My initial reaction when I saw the pictures was Ohhh... and Oh my!  In the second one, I love the gate, it is very quaint also I am left wondering where that pathway leads.  I love the way the waves of the water show above the rooftops.  You have a great eye, lets see more of your work!

What wonderful captures!

I have a "thing" about gates and what a lovely one you have here.  I just think it's grand!

Thanks so much for sharing with all of us here.  Looking forward to seeing more of your good work.

I like the way the colors in the first pic are so "pure", In the second I love the gate and the way the grasses are point toward the gate.
