Title: Views of Athens
Post by: Neil on October 23, 2007, 02:48:08 PM
I arrived back in the UK in the early hours of this morning after a break in Athens, Greece. Had a wonderful time and was blown away by the Acropolis (Have already posted some photos from there in the Architecture / Buildings section of the forum.

Took these photos of various views of Athens. I was surprised just how big the city of Athens was. Like most cities, it had its poorer areas. Most housing seemed to be apartments and the city is surrounded by mountains. In some of the photos you can see the clouds rolling down the mountain sides.

I can just imagine the  numbers of people who are there based on the homes.  It doesn''t seem to be a large area either.  Have you any idea what the population is?

What was the temperature like?  I am wondering with the cloud coming down the mountain, if there was rain on that day?

All in all a very interesting tour.

Judy, the size of Athens is 39 km² (15 sq mi) with a population of 3.3 million people.

Bit hard to believe with all that cloud rolling down the mountains, but we didn't have any rain until late into the evening, but when the rain came, it certainly rained hard...Tempertures were very pleasant (mid to low 20's) and was walking around in jeans and tshirts. Been a real shock returning to England with its cold temps and icy mornings.
