Title: Whitby Rowing Class
Post by: Summicron on July 04, 2009, 07:21:38 PM
Eeeh! takes me back a bit, I was about that age when I learned to row a boat, I love it, but there's no place near where you can find a good stretch of water to have a good swing at those oars, I like turning the boat in its own length, one oar forward, one oar back, really gets people confused on a boating lake. You know the cox is not doing his job right, he should stop the boat, get the lads to realign their oars first of all vertical, then angle them about 10 degrees backwards, so the oar slips into the water without a splash, themn angles forwards at the end of the stroke, these lads were racing, slow down a bit. Oh yes the place was Whitby harbour.

We have dragon boat races here in Canada.  The boats are bigger and I think there are more rowers.  It always looks like fun but a hefty cost to start just to be part of it.

These lads do look to be out of sync.

Good picture

They're young and oabviously still learning.  Eventually teamwork will emerge.   :D
