Some years ago on a trip to the lake district, we were crossing Windermere on the cable ferry, when this little steam gondola came out from amid some other boats and chugged its way out onto the lake, combined with the early autumn colours, it made up to one wonderful day.

Your description and the picture reminds me of a childhood story line.  "I think I can, I think I can". 

This is a lovely picture, a very peaceful place to visit.
