The packet house dates from the eighteenth century, had to copy the following information as I didn't know the history of what looks genuinely a Tudor building, but it isn't.
The Packet House is a Grade 2 listed building which dates from 1760. In 1769 passenger services started sailing from the boat steps, and you would purchase a ticket from the Packet House and board the Packet Boat. By 1781 there was daily service from Worsley to Manchester. The Tudor style black and white timbering was added circa1850 by the 1st Earl of Ellesmere.
