After having my feet bandaged at the health center today, (still getting smaller, but never getting there) I decided to head in towards Bolton, and then depending on the weather take a trip on the 68 bus to a place called Worsley, as I mentioned before a long time ago, the waters of the Bridgewater canal around these parts is really this browny yellow, due to old mine workings leaching iron into the water, 42 miles of underground tunnels around here, where miners used to get coal out of the mines in small flattish boats called coffin boats, have a look at the web. The day was one of those marvelous cloudy bright days where the sun was running in and out of clouds, wait a minute and the sun was out illuminating the scene, whilst heavy clouds backed up the scene.
Don't be fooled by the buildings, all you will see is mock tudor, they were all built in the nineteenth century. Of course the place is wonderfully charming, it was made to be, I fell in love with the place years ago, and today was the first opportunity I've had to see it again, albeit rather foolishly, as the towpath in places was a mudbath, difficult to skirt round, got my bandages a bit muddy (Clip round the ear when Sister Kath Eccles sees it tomorrow, supposed to be resting it, not galavanting along towpaths)
Judy these are partly for you as they show in detail the houseboats that people holiday in and many people own as weekend getaway's, this one is heading towards that mock tudor magpie house, this is the famous viewpoint, the tripod holes were submerged in mud today.
