That is the title of an old song, first introduced decades ago. I happened to hear it on the radio or somewhere the other day, and the Holy Spirit immediately, gently, plucked on the strings of my heart with His truth.
Have you ever prayed about something for a long time, almost giving up on any expectation of receiving an answer any longer, when suddenly, in an unexpected manner, the matter was positively resolved? Thats God asking, (or perhaps even singing to your spirit?) rhetorically, "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?"
Have you ever been discouraged with your seeming lack of growth in His grace or personal sanctification, and then had Him send a reviving word of His unconditional acceptance of you, while reading His Word, or through your pastor's sermon, a Christian radio/TV program, or a fellow brother or sister in Christ? That's Him saying. "Have I Told You lately That I Love You?"
Have you ever had unexpected "small" blessings intercept your daily life out of "nowhere", like all green traffic lights when you're running late for church or an important meeting, a parking place near the front door, and an empty seat close to the front in what should have been a completely filled sanctuary or auditorium? That's God nudging you with, "Have I Told You Lately That I love You?"
Have you ever had a letter, phone call, or e-mail from someone whom you thought disliked you, or at best could "take you or leave you", telling you that the Lord had used something you had done or spoken to bless them tremendously? Again Jesus was asking, "Have I told You Lately That I Love You?"
Have you ever been frustrated from unsuccessfully trying to learn the truth regarding some Christian doctrine as it applies to your personal walk with Christ, and then discovered that almost every Bible passage you "happen" to read for several days, every sermon or Bible study you heard, etc., gave you more understanding of the subject? Yes! God seems to never tire of lovingly whispering to us, His children, "Have I Told You Lately That I love You?", even while He is demonstrating that fathomless love in a multitude of practical ways!
All that remains now, is for us to pause for a minute and ask Him, "..........." (I think you know the phrase by now). :)
Thanks so much for these reminders.
We all relate, I'm sure! :)
Nice words to take to heart. Thank you for sharing them.
I'm blessed to hear that God has used those thoughts to encourage others here too! :)
Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
I so "relate" to these thoughts. It is exciting to me, as I go about my "normal" day, to see/hear God "in all the little ways" and to know He is there. I love it! And I love living in the constant flow of His presence. A dear friend, my Pastor Bev, used to say often "You're His favorite, you know." I know I'm not His only child but I love to think so sometimes. ;) He is so good to me and there's not a thing that happens in my life that He does not have totally under control.
Yes, in all the ways you just mentioned I know He is pulling me close and whispering to me that I'm His favorite. ;) Thanks for sharing.
That's a beautiful reminder Thank you!
Oh, such a lovely posting.
Just what I needed to start my day.
Bless you for sharing,
Take care and as always,
Love in Christ,
Joyce
I just read it again and it blessed my heart once again, Jim. Just lovely to read this.
That's great Pat! God is soooo good!
