Matt 5:1-2 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying:
This is the beginning of the great sermon on the mount. verse 2 tells us Jesus opened his mouth and taught them. Jesus is the WORD. Every word that came from His mouth was the WORD. He then starts teaching what we call the beattitudes. Verses 3-11 all begin with Blessed. The word blessed means to be charaterized by the nature of God. When one is indwelt by God they are in a state of blessedness. Some translation have blessed as happy. Happiness depends on the circumstances, while being blessed depends on being in Christ.
