Title: The Shortest Verse in the Bible
Post by: joyce robson on May 15, 2012, 01:13:52 PM
John 11:35

"Jesus wept."

At the time of this scripture, Jesus was weeping near the tomb of His friend, Lazarus.

The verse after this one tells us that the people around Jesus thought He was weeping for Lazarus.  But He knew that Lazarus was in a better place.  He also knew that He was going to bring Lazarus back from the dead.

To see the real reason why Jesus was weeping, we need to go back to verse 33 of John, chapter 11.

That verse tells us that Jesus groaned in His Spirit and was troubled, because He saw Lazarus' sister and his other friends weeping.

Those verses show us that when you and I are hurting in any way, Jesus is hurting because of that.  It grieves Him to see us weeping, mourning or in despair.

Jesus weeps because we weep.

He has so much love and compassion for us.  During our times of trials and tears, we need to come into His loving arms.

No one will ever care for you, understand you, or love you like Jesus does.

What a Saviour He is!  Praise His wonderful name!
