 Isaiah 54:5
For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

All through out Isaiah it describes God,  Find a verse in the bible that you like that best describes God.

I have so many but these two stand out right now.

"I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness."
John 12:46

"Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.'"
John 6:35

6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; 7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. 8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. 9 Behold, the former things are come to pass , and new things do I declare : before they spring forth I tell you of them.

This is one of my favorites Isaiah 42:6-9

I think there is no verse that describes God best. We people need a whole Bible to partially understand who God is only to be left amazed by Him when He shows a little bit more of who He is.

Still when asked the question there are some verses that enter my mind.

Exodus 3:14,15

QuoteGod said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM," and he said, "You shall tell the children of Israel this: "I AM has sent me to you." 15 God said moreover to Moses, "You shall tell the children of Israel this, 'Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations.

Here God for the first time in the Bible tells his name. It is YHWH (Yahweh) which the first time is translated as I AM WHO I AM. God is who He is! That is very important to understand. We often don't understand God and we are tempted to think of God as we would want Him to be. But God is who He is, whether we like it or not. 

Exodus 20:5,6

Quote... I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me, and showing loving kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

This is part of the first of the ten commandments. I like to think that because it is the first it is also the most important commandment since in the Bible many thinks are mentioned in order of importance, the most important thing first. This commandment tells us not to bow down to any idol we made ourselves and the reason is that God is a jealous God. He wants us completely for Himself and He finds this so important that this is the first thing he mentions. God really cares a lot if we bow down to Him and obey Him or not. And He not only cares, but also responds to it with punishment or blessings.
Don't we all deserve to be punished based on this commandment? If not for Jesus things looked really bad for us.

Revelation 1:8

Quote"I am the Alpha and the Omega, " says the Lord God, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."

God is the beginning and the end. Everything started when God started it when everything ends God is still there. How small and tiny are we. It is amazing that that huge God wants to know tiny little us and wants us to be with Him.

Learning about how others feel who God is to them and the verses that they enjoy..

I , personally, feel the Heavenly Father living inside of me reminds me of different bible verses daily as they relate to my earthly existence.

God is all powerful and as Christians we don't need to understand it as much as we need to believe it and live with the faith that with God all things are possible.

You know when asked who God is my response is "I AM".  That says it all you are so right on Menno

That was my first thought --I AM ---that says it all; doesn't it..

Sure does.  Remember Jesus in the garden when he asked the soldiers who they were looking for, his response was I AM he........They all fell backward, amazing that those words would have that effect!

My LORD, what he means to me.  As I sit here I think about how many times I have said words can't describe God well I was WRONG.   The LORD means this to me:   He's my father that will never leave me, he's my savior , the coloring book that I see each time I look around me.  He's my protector and my families protector. I look at my children and I see the LORDS arm around them, because they are His. His my friend when I'm lonely and tired. During my ups and downs.  Which means,  Who is God, He everything because He is. The only thing I have is my soul really, and that belongs to my LORD!!!!!   Just never forget how you felt the day you let the LORD in and you became his child.
