To the Christian Writers and Christian Photographers Communities:
Hello from a former Alaskan, transformed into a Seattleite. As you can see I am affiliating myself w/ both the communities at the same time. Let me explain how I came across you both, b/c it's interrelated.
I suffer from depression and back in MAR my counselor was telling me I should look for a writing group to join to get some encouragement in my interest in writing. I harrumphed her at the time, simply b/c I didn't have the emotional energy to "LOOK" for a group to join.
However, when my job ended in AUG I ended up seeing a bulletin posted at the local library, and started going to the writing group that meets there on Fridays (and is on break right now). And so a writing group found me, even though I hadn't been trying to find one to join.
About the same time I started getting more involved in the new church I had been going to. They had a group for people who wanted to write to leave a legacy behind for their families. So I started attending that group on Saturdays as well. Well, they only meet 4 weeks at a time for three months out of the year, so we met in SEP, and that's been it until come FEB or so.
In the middle of getting involved with the local writing groups I started looking up discussion forums for writers and found Christian Writers. Well, since both my groups are not currently meeting I started actually looking around on the Christian Writers, and saw Christian Photographers mentioned, so I popped in, and am happy to have done so as many of the other photo forums I have found are not, shall we say "family-friendly," with some of the pics that are posted.
Now that I am here, I am hoping to get inspired to do more photography / writing, as I have been ignoring them both for quite some time (depression is a terrible thing to waste). When I feel comfortable (and can dig out some of my work – and meet whatever the article / photograph posting reqs are) I will definitely start trying to get some stuff posted for feedback.
My writing interests are science fiction / fantasy, and thrillers (Clancy, Cussler). Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of Christian writers I can name as favorites – Perretti is one, as well I have enjoyed some of Lawhead's stuff (a science fiction duet – haven't read much of his other stuff, would like to read the new Robin Hood series that he is working on), as well as Michael Joens, but he hasn't published anything else (that I've found) since the two books I read that were published 20 yrs ago.
Growing up in Alaska, and currently living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest in Washington, my photo interests lay in outdoor / nature photography – including macros, and when I was able to I enjoyed shooting my nieces and nephews, and hope that one day that will be something I can once again do.
Hey there, Timberwolf! :welcome: It's good to see someone else from our Pacific Northwest. I'm on the south coast of Oregon, and there are others from this area also. You are in good company! Take a tour of this site and stop by the "cafe" and get acquainted with the rest of the gang, okay?

WELCOME TIMBERWOLF!!! Sure good to have you come in here! Some of us are photographers, and some are just "sort-of" photographers. I'm a "sort-of." But I'm also a writer. I've written devotional commenaries on Romans, Psalms, and Mark. I also self published one on Revelation a few years ago. We used to live up in the Portland area, and we still have some of our kids up in Olympia, Portland. God bless!
Hiya TimberWolf. Another guy with words and photos is always OK in my book.

I knew there was a reason I liked you! I like the same kind of stuff.
You might like Chris Walley's "Lamb among the Stars" series
and check out Alton Gansky stuff. I like "Vanished" sort of like X-files meets Jesus
