I have been looking around the net for a forum full of nice people. This one jumped out at me as I had hoped to find a decent Christian one and also have an interest in photography. I'm not a professional, but enjoy seeing pics and can't think of much else I'd rather do than take pictures, had I the time and the money to do it as I wished. (don't we all)
I recently moved to southern Oregon in the U.S.A. and live quite close to the Rogue River. Not terribly far away is Crater Lake, and not terribly far in the other direction you will find the Redwoods. I live in a valley surrounded by moutanins.
If I don't start taking pictures soon you all have my permission to come to my home and slap me, I'd deserve it for living in such an area and not taking advantage of the opportunity to take pics!
My favorite photo of mine wasn't done exactly on purpose. I was walking outside of an apartment complex just before dusk with two little girls and passed a chain link fence surrounding a block of cement, centered in front of a red brick building. I had the girls walk into the fenced area and put their hands on the fence, then instructed them to look slightly to my right and I snapped the photo. The image was developed in black and white and had this...haunting look to it. The combination of the chains, the children, the approaching dark, and the bricks in the background was amazing. It was also something I'd usually not do...I'm more the type to try to catch a bird at just the right angle or a chipmunk pulling some amusing stunt.
Ok, that's me. I followed the directions on my welcome message and posted here first, so now I'll get me over to the devotional section and see what's posted and ponder it so I can comment tomorrow, if that's what happens there. :)
Thanks for having me, and I look forward to meeting everyone!

WELCOME, GINA![/color] Having lived in Oregon for many years, I'd really like to see those pix!.
Hi Gina...
Great to be able to welcome another "Oregonian". Â We have a couple.
Hope you have some photos of the Rogue River. Â Sounds like a fast and furious one. Â
Here's today's NEW EVERY MORNING (http://christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=3963.0) but it will soon be locked and a new one opened with tomorrow's date.
You'll still be able to read though.
Looking forward to getting to know you.
Pat
Thanks.
I didn't learn until today that we're called "Oregonians". I did learn as soon as I got here that you're not supposed to call it OreGONE though!
I don't have photos yet. I don't have a scanner yet either. And when I do I won't have webspace.
My plan, apart from taking over the world, is to get to know some people out here and have them post the pics for me when I get around to photographing the area. ;D
There's jet boat rides about a minute from me and I'm longing for them to start again so I can take a camera on it this time. When I visited the area in July to see if we wanted to move here we took the ride and there were a number of good photo ops. I also found a really good spot along the banks where I plan on taking a pic of a heron grabbing a salmon. Sounds good, huh? I think so too. But will I happen to be in the right spot at the right time with the right camera? Tis a mystery, but experience tells me NOPE...keep dreaming!

When you get a scanner or if you can get some of your photos scanned by someone, then you can open a gallery right here on this site and show us.
Just click the little "Gallery" button above and you'll see that others have photos in their own gallery.
Gina,
I just recently got a scanner, for I'm in the process of putting old photo's on a CD & storing it in our Safe. Then my next step is to make a Scrapbook of my family members of whom I have few pictures of. So, I'll have to fill the pages with my Kreative imagination & journaling, etc.......
I just took some real unique pic's, so you'll have to ask Pat for the link. I've not added any new ones to my Photo Album here, but I do have some pic's there & I hope to apply them by tomarrow sometime.
Many of us have photo album's here, so do check them all out.
I was born in Dover Delaware & raised in the California mountains at 3500 elevation & now I live here in Vermont with my husband Shawn.

Hi, Gina. I'm in Oregon......over on the coast. I always thought the Rogue was beautiful. Welcome to CP and welcome to Oregon. Pretty soon........green, any shade, will be your favorite color. :) Nita
Hi Gina! I'm an Oregonian too! In fact, I live just across town from Nita. I've gone up the Rogue River on those jet boats a couple times and really enjoyed it. I know there are many photo ops along the way and you will have a wonderful time with your camera. Actually, as Nita already mentioned, soon GREEN will be your favorite color! ;)
Thanks for the welcome. :)
I'm not sure if green will be my favorite color. It is indeed a beautiful one, but one of my first thoughts when I came here was "I've gotta add some COLOR!"
I've been looking through our zone and seeing what will grow and add a bit of brightness. So far I've come up with the following that looked really pretty and/or had color:
weeping cherry
camillia
juniper
smoke tree
passion vines

Hi Gina: Welcome to C.P. I know you will love it here. I'm not a photographer, but got invited to join anyway., and there's not other place I'd rather be, than here on C.P.
Come on over to NEM....and we can have a chat there!
