Title: Introducing Myself
Post by: SteveMcLean75 on June 04, 2006, 02:33:38 PM
Hi, Everyone!

It's good to become a member of this unique group. I love photography, though I haven't been able to take many photographs of my own lately.

In addition to photography, I love writing, editing, graphic designing, and songwriting!  :)

I have been doing a lot of volunteer work over the years in these areas as Editor for various church newsletters, a writers group newsletter, and I have just recently taken on the position of Editor in Chief for a Christian publication ministry that is named Christian Communication Centre Publications. Will tell you more about that later. It's in its fledgling stages of developement, and some of you may be able to help me in the area of providing appropriate photographs for the magazines and books we'll be publishing, as we need them, and as the Lord speaks to your hearts through the Holy Spirit to work with us, photography-wise. We'll see.

I am physically-challenged, am middle-aged, and live by myself in a one-bedroom apartment in Ashland, Ohio. I don't drive, but get around quite nicely using our Ashland Transit System buses and cabs.

I love sports that have horses and/or cowboys and cowgirls as a major ingredient, and I enjoy baseball, golf, and olympic sports, especially, the skating competitions, because my Mom and Dad used to be professional skaters before my Dad became a tool and die maker for General Motors in the 1950s. They taught me and my sister and brother how to skate, and since I became physically-challenged in my mid-teens (through contracting "young people's arthritis"), being able to skate is one of the physically active abilities I miss the most! I require the use of half-crutches to do all of my physically actrive "walking around" kind of stuff. And I also used to ride horses, but that's been impossible for me, too, because I can't sit comfortably on a horse like some physically-challenged people can, and I really miss that, too! But, hey, the Lord's given me plenty of other fun activities that I can do and enjoy, so I am not overly upset or disappointed in my lack of being able to do these activities. Usually, I don't think about missing them that much, but sometimes, in a certain mood, it's normal, of course, to miss things.

I enjoying collecting information on classic TV series of my youth, such as these favorite series: ROUTE 66, RAWHIDE, 77 SUNSET STRIP, CHEYENNE, COMBAT, 12 O'CLOCK HIGH, WAGON TRAIN, and THE VIRGINIAN. I enjoy word games like SCRABBLE and WHEEL OF FORTUNE. I'm, basically, a "meat and ptatoes" guy, loving cheeseburgers, sloppy joes, meatloaf, turkey, chicken, and whitefish!  :) And my favorites, dessert-wise, are: 1) brownies 2) pumpkin pie and cream pies with merange like Grandma usd to make, fluffy and yummy! 3) cupcakes 4) Boston Cream Pie 5) and peanut butter cups and Little Debbie-type treats!  :)

Well, need to close, and go fix myself some lunch. Lokking forward to hearing back from many of you and developing new relationships here.

        Steve

WELCOME STEVE!!!

I'm especially intrigued by the things you do, because they're my things as well!  I have been a writer, editor, etc. for many years.  I have 3 books in readiness for publication, though none of them have been grabbed by publishers to date.  Actually, you can find them right here on Christian Photographers in the Manna for the Soul folder, under "Pastor Al's Studies."  I'd be interested to know what your Christian publication is.  God bless!

Hi Steve...

Hope to see you back checking out the site.  When you do, post a "shout" over on the left in the Shoutbox and we'll know you are online.

HEY, PAT, MARILYN, ETTA SUE, AL, SMOKEYTHE and OHENRY!

Thanks for the GREAT BIG WELCOME!

Don't have a lot of time to write this morning, but wanted to let you know I received your replies and appreciate them.

There have been a few changes in what I'm doing as Editor in Chief since I last posted. I am not serving the Lord anymore as Editor in Chief for the Christian Communication Centre publication division in India because its Founder, V. Ebenezer, decided for money reasons to discontinue that work. However, I am working on the goal that the Lord inspired within me through the Holy Spirit to serve Him as Founder/CEO/Editor in Chief of a publications and entertainment company based here in the United States where I live in Ashland, Ohio. We will be following the example of Reiman Publications magazines and books in being, basically, reader written and ad-free, with a special difference of being Christian reader-written, as an outlet for brothers and sisters in the Lord to share about living as new creatures in Christ, growing into Chrtistlikeness, and a variety of other topics that will be regular features and column titles unique to living a Christian lifestyle. The magazines and books will also be filled with an abundance of great photographs in color and black and white taken by and shared by readers, and also some photographers we'll have on staff to provide specific types of photos of God's Creation as we need them. This is one of the areas that each of you would be able to bless and help me with as I am putting together the first magazine that I'm planning will be among a stable of magazines that we will eventually have. Need to have nature and scenic photos that I am free to use to design the cover examples I am working on and inside special features pages. If any of you would be willing to donate some great free photographs to use,  that would be a special blessing to me!  :)

The company when it is officially started up and running will be named Steve McLean's Designer Publications and Entertainment Studios. And the first magazine I and my staff and readers will be creating and publishing together will be titled Living in the Grace of God[.i][/i] It will contain a combination of feature articles and column contents similar to those that are found in Reiman Publications' Reminisce, Country, and Birds and Blooms[ magazines, shared from a Christian lifestyle and worldview perspective. One of the features of this first magazine will be a photo section titled "Heaven and Earth Declare God Glory" that I'm planning on later expanding into a magazine of its own that extends this theme, and we wil need a continuous supply of color photos that demonstrate "heaven and earth declaring God's glory," natch!  :D Sunrise, sunset shots, landscape shots, animal shots, etc.

Well, I need to close for this morning. Will write more details about all of these things soon. Until then, thanks again, everyone, and I look forward to sharing and getting to know all of you better!

Love, Your Brother in Christ, Steve

I'm so happy you found all these messages, Steve.

You new venture sounds really interesting.  I'm going to keep watching and hope that you keep us posted on this.  I get several of the Reiman publications and enjoy ad-free browsing.
