Title: New Guy
Post by: PrmseKpr on March 23, 2004, 08:30:20 PM
I hope you don't mind me starting a new thread, but that other one is getting quite long!  I must admit that I didn't read it all, but it looks like I have a lot in common with some people here.

My name is Neal, I have been a Christian since June 1988. I came to Christ at a Young Life camp (Frontier Ranch) in Buena Vista, Colorado.

I was born in NY, grew up in MD, then moved to COS, CO, and then to Erie, PA and now I make my home in VA.  My wife is from Michigan. I noticed someone mentioned Rochester Hills, I know exactly where that is! :)  Her family lives in Cedar Springs, Bad Axe, and also has some relatives that are former residents of Rochester Hills.

I have been seriously into photography since I got my DigiCam last March/April.

I work for a major Internet company, but am looking for a change. Actually, that is a prayer request.

BTW... I am a believing Jew! :)

If you have any questions, please ask!

How old is this board? I found it by doing a Google search on "Christian Photography"

Hi Neal!

It's so nice to have you here.  You've certainly travelled.

We are almost a year old.  I started the board last April.

If you go to the New Every Morning, the very first one is still there.

New Every Morning is sort of like our Donut Shop where we gather each day for light conversation so you'll be welcome to come in there and meet the folks.  Coffee is always fresh there!  LOL

Great webpages, Neal!  I'm going to go back and have a better look.  I know that the folks here will just love to see those little ones.

Thank you! :)  The kids are in bed, so I am on the computer playing!

I am working on the  PhotosByNeal.com (http://photosbyneal.com) site. Right now it only links to my store, I hope to have my portfolio on there soon.

Yes, I have.  I went to one in DC at RFK in '95 (actually, the first PK event ever held in DC) and I also went to Stand in the Gap in ummm '98(ish)?? (I was the guy wearing the PK hat).

Welcome, Neal.

I'd love to hear how, as a Jew, you came to know the Lord as your personal Saviour.

(btw) - it was me... I have a son who lives in Rochester Hills, MI._

Hi Judy,

Well, I haven't been to Rochester Hills in a few years and probably won't be back in that neck of the woods, because my wife's Aunt & Uncle moved.

Now how I came to the Lord, is a long story, so let me summarize:

My family is not very observant, we only went to temple for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.  We did go for Shabat services and I attended the Hebrew school on Sunday.  I was also Bar Mitzvahed.  I never really enjoyed going to services.  I also wondered why it was that Jews were not supposed to believe that Jesus was God's Son.

In high school I was invited to a Young Life Club (http://www.younglife.org) and felt something in that room that I never felt before, that I was loved!  The summer after graduating I went to a YL camp (http://www.younglife.org/frontierranch/) and came to Christ at camp.

My parents were not too pleased when they found out that I had given my life to Christ, but that was over 15 years ago and they have learned to live with it.  If they were strict observant Jews, they would have disowned me and actually would have had a funeral for me because I would have been "dead" to them.  I am now happily married to a gentile Christian girl and have two wonderful kids.  My parents are aware of our beliefs and try to honor them.

Well, I guess that's it in a nutshell! :)

Thank you Al & Sonifo!

Sonifo: I like your signature.  I think the object with the greatest gravitational pull is a dad (or mom) laying on the floor! LOL! ;)
