Post by: Jeanne Lee on July 14, 2016, 09:37:16 AM

Hi there ianbutty...

We are very proud of how friendly the gang here is and are glad you've joined us.  There is every level of knowledge here so feel free to jump into the forum and set up your album too in the Gallery no matter if you have just gotten your first camera today or have been a professional since the time of large format cameras.

Make yourself at home and enjoy sharing this wonderful art form here at

Hi All,
Thank you for approving my membership of this forum.  I was emailed the link for this website by a friend from church.

I am a professional photographer and studio owner, based in Stockport, UK.  I have been a full time professional since 2003.  Like most pros these days I have to turn my hand to all types of photography to make ends meet.  I started out doing travel and stock photography.  I've done my fair share of portraits and weddings.  I have commercial clients including a sign manufacturer, an advertising company and even a self storage company (if you can make empty boxes look good you can make anything look good!).

I am the official photographer for two theatres, and have photographed over 100 plays.

In 2011 - I opened "Ian's Studio" (http://www.ians-studio.co.uk (http://www.ians-studio.co.uk)) - with the main aim of helping other photographers develop.  Teaching and encouraging photographers is now the most significant part of my business.  I have a YouTube channel where I talk about different photography techniques.  If anyone is interested here is a link to my most recent video which also gives a glimpse into one of the events I ran recently at the studio - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJY7Oa5J2BU (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJY7Oa5J2BU).  In order to appeal to the most number of photographers I run a large range of events and I teach techniques for lots of different aspects of photography, including macro, table top photographs, special effects, image editing (Lightroom), and many different types of model photography where events can include subjects such as portraiture, pin-up, steam-punk, boudoir, and even art nude

Once I have worked out the most appropriate subforum to post them in - I'll share some of my images with you all.  (Don't panic I won't post any of the art nude ones here! ;-) )

All the best
Ian.

Hi Ian!

Nice to have you.  We're a small site.  We've been around since 2003 but we like to welcome new people.

I will go and see what you've posted.

Pat

Thank you Pat and Ken for your welcomes.  It feels pretty quiet round here at the moment - not much photography being talked about or shared.  Is that just because it's the summer?

I've posted in a lot of the sub forums, but a bit reluctant to post much more I am already the 'last poster' in six or seven of the sub forums and it doesn't look good to have the same name as the last poster on so many forums.

Things have slowed down...probably for a variety of reasons.  There are several that will come back as the night's get longer, but we might be able to rally the troops a bit.  When the next photo challenge is announced we should see a surge in activity.

Hi Ian...jj

Yes, things have been slow around here.   My Admin that helps with the site has been very ill and in hospital and I've been ill for many months.  Hoping for a full recovery pretty soon.  :)
