Taken in the grounds of Whalley Parish Church as the sun was just beginning to go down, there is a poem that goes well with this picture, I'm no poet so here are the lines.
Shadows And Light Invite
Shadows and dappled light invite,
The feet to tread a golden path,
Where lamps are lit by evening sun,
And shadows long,
Their dappled webs of intrigue spin.
Soon into night the graves,
The trees, the well-shorn grass,
The church, the bones of those who sleep will pass.
A time to ponder, and to linger,
Before the need to hurry home,
While shades of those that slumber,
Sit by their tombs, to watch and hear,
The peace and hymns of evening.
Oh so restful. both the poem and the picture
