Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

Sunrise pictures - same spot [attachimg=#]with and without a flash

Without flash.

So these two pictures were taken within seconds of each other from the exact same spot.  I'm trying to determine if there is a 'better' way to shoot sunrise   (with or without a flash).   These are unedited and I don't love the composition, but for sake of learning a technique, I include them in this post.

Your advice as to 'how to shoot sunrise' photos is much appreciated.   Please teach me all your know :)[attachimg=#]

The first shows more details of the area, and is very clear.

However, the second is more a feeling of the ending of night darkness and the gradual increase in natural light as the day begins.

I like both.

I'm in favor of the second one. Mainly because Silhouettes can be very dramatic.

Sunrise is actually easy to shoot. What is hard is getting up early enough to be at the right time.
My approach is nothing special. I just want to capture it the way I see it _ the natural way. No flash.
Sometimes spot metering it on the brightest spot, can yield the most dramatic result.

Using flash to illuminate the foreground can sometimes make it interesting as long as bounced and subdued.
I certainly prefer your shot without the flash.
