My friend Joann Nelson and her daughter Jennifer from Lucerne Valley were in a terrible car crash yesterday. Joann has extensive brain injuries and we don't know how badly Jennifer was injured yet. Joann is in her second brain urgery at this very moment. 3:45 PM 3/12/05

Oh, Father, place Your healing hand over the surgeons hands ... guide each minute detail of the procedure on Joann. Bring peace and assurance to all involved with these lives, that they will know without a doubt that You hold all things together and bring peace out of confusion; order out of chaos; and You alone are the Healer. Touch Jennifer and Joann and may their recovery be an astonishment to the medical profession and all who have contact with them. Let it be a glorious testimony to your love and mercy and healing.
And, Father, pour Your love and peace out upon Marilyn and bring comfort and erase all concerns and worry from her mind as she awaits word of her dear friends.
I spoke with Peggy Oliver in Lucerne Valley she is the Pastor's wife there.She said that Jennifer is also suffering from extreme head trauma.
6:30 PM I just got another call with more info. Joann and jennifer were at a stop sign at the highway when a Mercedes came down the hill behind them and hit them knocking them out into the path of the cement truck. The cement truck drove right over the top of them.
Jennifer's brain is bleeding. Pastor and Peggy have gone to San Bernardino to the Hospital to be with Dave. Joann's husband Jennifer's father.

Oh Father, these are such hard things! You know our feelings even better than we do. I pray just now for Joann and Jennifer. I pray You'll give the doctors and nurses extra skill and wisdom/insight in dealing with them. Oh grant Thy healing hand to be upon them. And somehow make them know Your presence and power, and make all who are around them know how You uphold Your children. We're seeking Your grace and mercy, Father, through Jesus Christ Your Son and our Lord.
Amen to Jane's and Al's prayers. And Father, please comfort and bring peace to this dear husband and father who is facing such difficult circumstances for his loved ones. We know You are able to bring about healing, mend everything that is broken and restore them to health. We ask these things in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
Oh Marilyn. I too will say a pray for them, and their families.
Oh, dear! Marilyn, I've just prayed for your dear friends. I'm truly so very saddened to read this.
Marilyn, I also say amen to those prayers already stated above and will be praying for the two ladies and for the husband.
I forgot to add that the people in the Mercedes were also taken away by ambulance to the hospital and the driver of the truck was also air lifted as well as Joann and Jennifer.
I will update again later today on their condition. I expect to be updated frequently by the church family in Lucerne Valley.
Marilyn, I just said a quick prayer for all involved in this accident.
Jennifer has come out of the coma but still in ICU on a respirator. When she saw her father she tried to get out of bed so he was asked to leave the room.
The Doctors are not giving him much hope for Joanne to recover from the coma. The second surgery was to remove blood clots from her brain and more have now formed.
Prayer is the only thing that can save her now. Keep on praying.
Ohh, I was so hoping that there would be good news. Still praying, Marilyn.

My husband had a massive head injury and only by the
miracle healing of our Heavenly Father did he survived.
Forty two years later and he is still going strong.
May this family be touched by HIS healing powers as well,
and give the strength needed for comfort at this
time.

Peggy & Pastor went to see Joann & Jennifer on Sunday after the morning service, and also to be with David. Joann did open her eyes for the first time and started to ask who he was, and then recognized him and said, "Pastor, is that you?" This encouraged David very much! Jennifer - they are still keeping sedated because every time she starts to come to she tries to pull the tube out of her lung, which is there to keep it from deflating again. Keep the prayers going up, they both need them desperately!

Here is an email I received this morning..
I do not hear to good so maybe Ray can tell you more than I can but here is what I think I heard. Joanne is out of the coma and recognized the Pastor, Peggy and her husband sunday but she does not know what happened and was asking questions about why she is there and how come. The part I do not get is they are talking about sending her home in two more days, she can't walk, she would have to have someone with her constantly and her husband just started his new job monday. I do not know what will come of that.
Jennifer is still out of it but they want her out, she has a broken arm and leg plus one lung collapsed. They have not been able to set her leg or arm because of the swelling. Think they are going to do it friday. I do not know how long she will be in the hospital. Joanne knows about her.

Joanne is now home from the hospital and the people from the church are taking turns staying with her and helping her, she has a broken leg.
Jennifer is still in the hospital with 2 broken arms, a broken leg and the brain injuries.
Please continue to pray.

I just spoke with Joanne on the phone, she is recovering nicely with her broken legs and from the brain surgery. She is at home. She has a former neighbor as her caregiver. She asked that we continue to pray for Jennifer.
She is still inthe hospital awaiting surgry for the broken bones in both arms and her leg. She is off the ventilator and can now talk and is cognizant. Recently she had suffered another bout with depression and had to be hospitalized. (She suffers with depression)
Dave is handling the situation very well. There other daughter did not have a phone and they had to write her a letter to let her know about the accident, she will be coming to help soon.
Shew, it sounds like the worst is over, and the hardest is yet to coem. I will keep praying for htem!
Jennifer had brain surgery last Thursday, I am assuming that everything went fine or I would have heard different. They still have not operated on her arms or her leg.
Please Please continbue to pray for these two ladies. Joanne is now suffering with very severe bouts of crying for hours and hours. They are saying it is because opf Jennifers injuries and also from the trauma of having the two brain surgeries. So please continue to pray.
