GOD GIVES THE VICTORY
Judith B. Moravek
March 15, 2000

{Joshua 6}

God had commanded and they were to obey,
All was in place and ready for the day.
Strange as it was, they listened to their Lord.
They had such peace and faith and trust
that God would keep His Word.

First went the soldiers, armed to meet the foe,
Next went the priests their trumpets they would blow,
Third went the Ark of the Covenant of God,
And then the rear guard followed all
to march upon the sod.

Words were not spoken, no noise, or voice was heard,
Only the sound of the trumpets, the trumpets of The Lord.
Once around the city, the soldiers would go
And do just this and nothing more
for six days in a row.

Then came the seventh, the day of victory.
That day was very different,
God's mighty hand they'd see.
Seven times around, not once, as they had done.
The trumpets sounded long, they shouted
with a voice as one.

Loud was the thundering, as wall of stone did shake.
Dust arose and filled the air when all began to break.
Trumpets still were heard, the shouts continued on,
As Jericho completely fell,
God's mighty work was done.

God gives the victory as no one else can do!
God gives the victory, it's there for me and you.
And as we live we must obey
our Father's least command,
and yield ourselves to His own will
And boldly take our stand.
