Title: Just a small prayer request.
Post by: Samantha on February 09, 2005, 08:40:43 AM
Hi all,

My husband and I started a small church 3 years ago.  Attendence has fallen to the point that it is just my family, so with God's leading we are closing down.  (That's ok) My husband feels led to go into evangelistic work, (that's ok too) Since we came to this decision on Sunday, yesterday he received a call to preach a Sunday night service at the Methodist church close to us.  (Isn't God Good!)  The entire time we had the chuch, no one ever called him to preach anywhere else.  I see this a good sign.

I guess what I'm asking for is prayer that we will know  exactly what God wants us to do for Him, and also, a home church for our family.  My kids need to be grounded somewhere but we are not sure where to go. (Which was why we started are own church).

Thank you for all the prayers you have sent out on behalf of me and my family already.

Samantha

Father I ask you to Give them direction as to where you want them to go. Lead them to just the right place that YOU have chosen for your servant and his family. In Jesus name, Amen

I will pray to that end, Samantha.  I know how important it is to have children in a good Bible believing church.

Definitely we'll keep you in prayer, Samantha.  Yes, the children need to have a "home church family" where they feel as if they belong.  I'm sure that the Lord has just the right place for you.

I certainly add my amen to the prayers here for you, Samantha.  Oh how important it is to have a home church!  Preferably, it'll be one with people who minister one to another and with a pastor who preaches expository messages that build you all up.  Amen!

Samantha, day by day trusting and walking in His light is not always easy, but you're believing in faith that He will guide your path.

I believe with you, and am praying that you will become a part of the wonderful body of Christ that will steady you and the family, and allow your husband to follow his calling.

As a minister's daughter - I "know from whence I speak."

Finding the "right" home church is not easy, but you will. I am praying that this will happen for you.

Just an update:

We went to morning service at the methodist church he was to preach at this evening.  We really enjoyed it but the congregation is almost as small as what we had to begin with!  Not that that is a bad thing!  Anyway, this evening, my husband preached and in my unbiased opinion (HA!)  I thought he did real well, I know he was nervous but he preached on increasing your faith.  They seemed to like it though.  We still have no clue where to go next Sunday, but God will take care of that someday this week.
Thank you all for your prayers, and could you say extra ones for us on Wednesday morning?  We will be doing a lot of traveling from Wed to Friday morining, (business trip, I homeschool so mini vacation to Smoky Mtn's ) \

Thanks again,
Samantha

Even though I don't reply much I do pray for everyone.  And I love to read updates!! :D

I think we have found us a church to call home, at least for the time being.  It's small but friendly, and hey believe pretty much the same way we do, and last night uring the sermon, I was thinking to myself, this guy sounds just like my husband when he preaches, and Terry said the same thing!  He said it was like listening to himself, which led him to believe that this is where we are supposed to be, at least for now.

Thanks for your prayers, it sure is good to have a place to call home now.

I have two others friends that are pastors...oops three (just thot of another one)  Anyway two of them are Free Methodist pastors  and one a Nazarine.

I keep asking the two FM's to come back to Michigan.  Now I'm asking you....write to the Free Methodist Church, Southern Michigan Conference, Spring Arbor, Mi....maybe Terry's credentials are transferrable to our church.  Actually there are FM churches in your area.  Don't take this as prosellising, just something to think about.
