Title: Misson Trip To Kenya Off
Post by: DavidB on June 30, 2006, 02:00:39 PM
Hi folks. Please forgive me I haven't been active for some time now.  :-[Hopefully that will change. Some time back I asked for prayers concerning preparation for a mission trip to Kenya. Well, I didn't get the financial support I needed so I will not be going back. After much prayer and a sermon or two, I am beginning to real ize that maybe God is taking me through a pruning process and as such it is, and will be, painful. :'( So I guess I am asking for prayers on your part that I will learn what I need to learn and not "kick against the goads" so to speak. Blessings to all of you. :)

Hi David...

Thanks so very much for posting and letting us know.  Yes, sometimes our Heavenly Father must prune but oh, the fruit is so bountiful after His work.

A poem that has helped me at times such as this:

The Weaver
Anonymous

My life is but a weaving, between my God and me,
I do not choose the colors, He worketh steadily.
Ofttimes he weaveth sorrow, and I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper, and I the underside.
Not till the loom is silent, and the shuttles cease to fly,
Will God unroll the canvas, and explain the reasons why
The dark threads are as needful in the skillful weaver's hand
As threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.

He knows, He loves, He cares,
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives His very best to those
Who leave the choice with Him.

David - I couldn't agree more with the poem Pat posted.  It is beautiful, and it is TRUE!  Our God is privileging you to experience the pruning hook, but you must remember that it is GOD Who does it, and He makes no mistakes.

Pat and Al, thank you both for your words of encouragement. I will try to take them to heart in the days to come. I have read the poem before in years past, but it takes on a new light when you are actually going through tough times. God is at work and I pray that I will be sensitive to what He is saying to me and respond in a way which is most benificial. Thanks again for your encouragement and for your faithfulness to respond so quickly. God Bless. :)
