Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

:(  My brother Allan has been in hospital since June 6Th  thinking he had asthma  but instead he has been hit the blow of being told that in fact it is cancer in both lower lungs, the Dr's. are talking chemo and Allan has been told that he can expect anywhere from 6 to 9 more months of life.  This is a hard blow for all of us.

Yes Allan did smoke but had given that up about 10 or so years ago.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Ohhhh, my goodness, Ruth!  I'm so sorry.  Please know that I've added Allan to my prayer list and will continue to pray for him and for the family circle (including you).  This is so sad.

Thanks Ruth for posting this here.

Ruth, so sorry to read of the cancer.  That is such an insidious disease.  I also will be praying.

Ruth, I am so very sorry.   :(  What a devastating piece of news for you to have to wrap your brain around.  You can be assured that I am praying and will continue to keep you and your brother and all the family members bathed in prayer as you walk through these difficult times.  Don't lose sight of the truth that our God is an awesome God and He will keep you in the hollow of His hand and give you comfort.

Father, I pray for Ruth and Allan.  I ask You, Father to move powerfully in their hearts and minds, first of all, and to give them a blessed sense of Your Presence and love.  I pray You'll use this awful news to draw them both close to Yourself and to realize Your grace and goodness, even in these things.  Oh move in their hearts and minds, Father, as well as in Allan's body, to know Your love and mercy through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Janet

Ruth, I also pray for your brother Allan.  Does he know Jesus as his Savior?  I pray he does, for when it comes to it, that is the only thing that really matters; not how many years we spend here on earth, but where we spend eternity.

I am upholding you in  prayer, as well, for this news is so hard for all who love Allan.  May God hold you close in His arms and comfort you as only HE can.  [[[[hugs]]]]

Ruth something for you to know.  John's cousin and a dear elderly friend of mine as well as a friend of john's all have been diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer.  All of them have been given a specific kemo and all three have recovered.  Bob will live long and will continue to see his grand kids grow up as will the others.  This may not be a death sentence.  Lets continue to pray that the doctors will have wisdom and know the right combination of meds..  I am praying sis.

That's right, Judy.  So many times our minds go to the seemingly impossible side of things .... I recall (some of) the words to a song we used to sing: "Ah Lord God, Thou hast made the heavens and the earth by Thy right hand! Ah, Lord God, Thou hast made the heavens and the earth by Thine outstretched arm ...  nothing is too difficult for Thee (repeat)...  nothing, nothing, absolutely nothing; Nothing is too difficult for Thee"  So true

So many times in life I have looked on the dark side of life.  BUT so many prayers have been answered that I now tend to look for the silver lining.

Ruth

Thanks all for your prayers and encouragement.  Yes Allan does know the Lord.  The last few nights he has been having heart issues as well, now he has been moved to a different room same floor but the heart section I would think. I wish that I could visit more often but he is in the
Burlington Hosp. the one nearest when his troubles got much worse.

He has had a lot of trying issues in the last many years, marriage, his daughter turning her back on him, his job, and since he has become ill I am now his banker this I do not need I must be here for a reason.
Taking care of these things is not difficult but it  is added stress.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Ruth

Allan is trying to be very confident about everything.

To everyone he says thanks for your prayers and I know he has a tough time ahead of him with the chemo.

I understand when the chemo starts it will be 3 times one week then a week off then start all over again and for how long this will continue will depend on how well his body responds is what I understood him to say.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Ruth

Allan called today, he was hoping to be released but there is going to be more testing and a change of treatment, now the thought is radiation, when once it was ruled out, God is Good
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Allan had his first treatment today, he was telling me what is ahead but so much info to remember.  His spirits are really good - much better than mine really.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Praying here too, for your brother and for you.

Ruth We are continuing to pray here.  How bout an update?  What treatment is he getting?  how is he managing with the treatment?  How are you and Mel coping with it all?

Ruth

As for Allan's treatment it is chemo whatching by means of blood testing he is having issues with the predisone which is very common, and also conjested heart,  he is coping the only way a person can with these conditions and also someone that has never been ill. How is the treatment going it is to soon to know.   As for Mel & myself well we are also doing the best we can but for me it is more difficult because as you know he is 7 years younger.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Allan has lost lots of weight which I do feel is treatment related which is vicious, he is taking at least 12 pills of some kind every day one set in the morning and another in the evening.

He usually has blood work and Dr's appointments on Tues, then on Wednesday he has chemo and perhaps more Dr's appointments.

On Monday he is starting a 5 day radiation treatment on a spot on the brain, following that sometime there will be an  MRI. but when I do not know.

In spite of all the treatment he is week but not sick as you would expect and his words are I really do feel better.

Only God in His control and the results will reveal the real truth.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Ruth I have a cousin and a dear friend with lung cancer.  He can get through this....it seems to be all in the attitude if they do or not.  Another friend has cancer all through her, was expected to die months ago.  Saw her come into the hospital this week for a check up.  She left again smiling.  Tell Allan to stay positive.

Ruth

Judy:   He has been positive from the very beginning.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

That's great Ruth!  Glad to read that.  So many folks get depressed and low in their spirits when fighting this dreadful disease.

Ruth, thanks for keeping us updated. In my mind's eye, as I begin to pray, I envision those who need prayer. May Our Father keep each of you, and especially Allan, within the circle of His loving arms during this time.
