Title: My Life-Long Friend Has Liver Cancer
Post by: Ed on September 23, 2006, 11:06:03 PM
As I said on the daily post my friend has liver cancer and has been given 2 months to live.  He is not a christian.  He knows that I am.  I want to be able to share Jesus with him and give him hope in the days to come.

Please pray for me, that the Holy Spirit go before me and prepare his heart for what I will be sharing with him.  And that I have an opportunity to share with him...no interruptions.

Pray for his wife for peace and comfort in this trying time.  I can only imagine what she is going through knowing that her husband doesn't have long to live.

Ed I am so sorry to read of this situation.  I understand your concern and will definitely be praying for you as well as your friend and his wife.  I lost my mother, father and daughter to cancer ... I know.  And God knows.  Just be yourself and continue to be the friend you have always been.  God will make the way and the opportunity will be there...if that is His will.  You know God is in control.  It may not be yours to lead him to Christ and salvation.  You know what the apostle Paul wrote about one sowing, another watering, but it is God who gives the increase.

God bless you and your friend and his family ... I am praying.

Ed I am praying that the Holy Spirit will open your friend's heart to receve all that the Lord gives you to say to him.

I did have a short visit with Bob on Sunday.  He was nearly out of it.  We talked and I got a chance to pray with him.

I did notice a copy of the "Daily Bread" by his chair and encouraged him to read it as it has a lot of good stuff in it.

He got on a special program at U of M Hospital.  He undergos 5 weeks of chemo and radiation.  Whatever it is supposed to do, I pray that it works.

Thank you for your praysers and concern.

Ed

Hey Ed, every little part of our lives is ordained by God.  It is a good thing that Bob has Daily Bread.  Who know what else has come across his pathway?  God is still in control.

I know that, even if we think there was no chance, God can communicate with his spirit in a nanosecond and "bring all things to his remembrance"  Any and all things that he has ever heard will be uppermost in his mind and he will be able to make that choice if even it is his last moment on earth.

I pray that this treatment will prolong his life and even bring about a cure for his cancer.  I am also very thankful that you have the opportunity to visit with him and share your heart.  Keep up the good work and take every opportunity to be with your friend.  Life is so short but eternity is forever and unending.

God bless you

As I said, I visited my friend and prayed for him.

He passed away this past Wed, Oct 4.  He desired t.b. at home and he was till the last day when the pain became unbearable so he was admitted to the hospital.

After I heard he had died, I was regretting the fact that I didn't have an opportunity to share my faith with him.  I needn't have worried.  I found out that he gave his life to the Lord 2 years ago.

Isn't God good !!!!!

Thank God, Ed.  I know you will sorely miss your friend and I am praying for you and his family as you work through this time of grieving, but you can hold on to the promise that you will see him again ... on the other side.

Ed, I am very tardy in reading this prayer request.  I am happy to hear that your departed friend had accept Christ.  Perhaps we all need to learn to use the opportunities we have to share as God directs and then leave it in God's hands as to the outcome as the others have said very well.

The memorial service for Bob was yesterday.  I met his younger sister and we shared many memories.  There were a number of fellow workers present which was testamony to how people felt about his gentle spirit and carefree way of life.

Yes, we will meet again in Heaven on the softball team "Heavens Angels"  Bob will be playing second base, my brother will be playing 3rd base and I will be pitching.
