Kathy is a member here on Christian Photographers but she and I have a closer relationship on Photography Cafe where she's a fellow administrator and I love her.
I've never met Kathy face to face but she and I are very close internet friends having worked together on a couple of other photography websites even before we started the Photography Cafe. We've spoken numerous times on the telephone over the years and have planned too to meet in Niagara Falls, Ontario or Kingston, Ontario. This hasn't happened yet. (She lives in Utica, NY)
Anyway, to make a long story short, poor Kathy has had a terrible year. Last January, she was diagnosed with a lymphoma on her neck and she had surgery and chemo for this. She went through a terrible time over the months. In September, she was declared to be "cancer-free". We were all so happy.
Well, Kathy has been in hospital for a little over a week, getting out just two days ago, as they found a spot over her ear and touching her brain. Needless to say, she is very upset about this and wants all who believe in prayer to pray for her. I immediately thought that we, here at CP, are great believers in prayer.
So, I'm asking you all to please put Kathy on your Prayer List. Let's pray that Kathy will be aware of the close presence of the Saviour and have a real knowledge of Him in her life. Kathy does believe in prayer so let's all pray!
And a big thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I will try to keep you all posted and I'll let Kathy know that I've opened this topic and hopefully she'll be in here to post. She loves this site but she's just not had the time to be quite as regular on here as she would like to have been. Her little niece has recently joined the Photography Cafe and I told her that it might be good if she was a member on CP as we have such a great group of younger members such as Scotty, Gabriel and Scotty's siter who would be an "internet safe" group to be with.
Yes, I will pray for kathy
Praying now for Kathy.
Praying
I'm praying for her too.

Just getting here today, Pat, but you can be assured I am praying for Kathy!
Interestingly enough, my sister has the same name, and she is in need as well.
God knows all about it ... I trust HIM!!
I'll be praying myself to sleep tonight, so Kathy is right there on my prayer list.
Right now Kathy needs all the prayer we can send Heavenwards.
Thanks Pat for bringing this to our attention.

O Father, You cannot be overwhelmed by our prayers, and You are not moved by numbers. But You are so very merciful. I pray You to turn Kathy's thoughts to Yourself. I pray she'll call on You, not only for healing, but because she comes to truly know and love You. O Father, do these things for Your own glory, through Jesus our Lord.
I have sent Kathy a link to this topic so it will be nice to be able to discuss right with her. I just know she'll be here. ;)
I am praying for Kathy!!!
Kathy and I have been penfriends for many years and we met up in NYC some years ago. She is dear to me and I'm praying for her with all my heart!
Hi Julie!
Lovely to see you here. I sure know that you and Phil have been such good friends to our Kathy.
I telephoned Kathy today but got her answering machine so assured her that we're all praying for her daily here at Christian Photographers.
So, let's all continue my friends.
I'm going to share a photo of her with you all.

Thanks, Pat.
will pray for her too. how is she doing now?
Thanks Pao.
We're trying to find out.
I, too, continue to be concerned. Still praying.
Tonight I spoke to Steve, Kathy's friend.
He told me that she's spending the weekend with her parents. This past week has been a week of many tests in Rochester, NY at a very highly esteemed hospital for the type of problem that Kathy has.
As a result, they are very optimistic and next week, Kathy is to start treatment at this hospital in Rochester. The type of chemo that she is to have involves her having to stay in the hospital for a few days each time and she's not looking forward to that but realizes that this is the best route for her.
So, this is the latest news and we must all continue to pray for our very dear friend and colleague.
Thanks for letting us know, Pat .... prayers continue for Kathy.
Kathy, you know how much I love you and how you continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
You are so strong, my friend... and so many are right here with you praying for you.

Now we have a face to match the name.
Sad News.
On November 23rd, Kathy cooked a small turkey as a late Thanksgiving dinner for her parents and her friend Steve. It was Day 9 after her second chemo treatment. She had been told before chemo started that Day 10 was a very crucial day
Monday, Day 10, she fell very ill and was taken to the hospital and her heart stopped. She died on Tuesday, November 25th.
I'm so sad.
Kathy was a wonderful friend of mine for the last 5 (nearly 6) years and was one of the original members of
Photography Cafe. (http://photography-cafe.com).
Here is the entry we made in our "Meet the Team" section of the Photography Cafe for Kathy. She will be greatly missed on that site.

I am honored to be a part of the fantastic Photography Cafe team. Pat invited me to become a member when the site first began and I accepted that invitation right away. (I had met Pat on other photography sites.) I soon became a moderator in charge of the Coffee Counter. It is a duty that I still enjoy doing because it is fun to search for trivia, chuckles and quotations.
I have been interested in learning more about photography for several years. My career as a school library media specialist led me to learn more about photography. One of my job responsibilities involves taking photos of school events. So, I started taking photos with point and shoot cameras at work. Next, I wanted to discover more about the artistic as well as technical aspects of photography, so I took several classes at the local art center and joined the local camera club. I have to say that I have learned so much about photography through our Cafe members! Now, I enjoy being in nature and taking landscape and nature photos with my Canon Digital Rebel DSLR. (Maybe I should think about replacing this camera soon.) I just wish that I had more hours in the day to devote to photography!
My other passions in life include introducing children to the joys of reading, spending time with my sweetheart Steve, my big family (parents, five siblings, three nieces and two nephews), and close friends. I enjoy visiting the nearby Adirondack Mountains here in my native New York State. I also like to travel to the Maine seacoast and the White Mountains in New Hampshire. Some of my other hobbies include reading, going to the gym, doing arts and crafts projects and cooking.
Be sure to join us at the Coffee Counter where the coffee and tea are always freshly brewed and friendly chatter is always going on!
KathyKathy would have been 45 years old this coming Thursday.
We have re-named the "Coffee Counter", "Kathy's Coffee Counter" in her honour and memory.
I'm sorry to hear this sad news. Would it be possible to let Kathy's family know we are praying for them?
Scotty, I will be sending the family a link to this topic so they will know.
Thank you for the prayers on their behalf.
Pat
There is a Guest Book on the internet where you can post a message of condolence too, Scotty. I've just posted one.
Here's a link to it: http://www.legacy.com/AuburnPub/Obituaries.asp?Page=Notice&PersonID=120720793
Father God,
Please cover Kathy's family and friends under your refuge of comfort; be with them and put your comfort and peace in their hearts. Please bless Pat for being a great friend to Kathy and keeping everyone on the forum updated. Thank you Father, we pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
