This morning my FIL had a heart attack will in the VA hospital, (having other tests run). Had he had not been in the hospital already, he would have died then. He still is not out of the woods, so please pray for him. This is the second one he has had in 5 years. Thanks Samantha
Will do......Father we surrender this man to your will. We ask that the doctors hands be guided and that they receive the wisdom to treat this man.
We ask that you give comfort to the family at this trying time and we ask that you let them know is a special way that you are there right along side them.
In Jesus' name.
I say AMEN to Fast Eddie's prayer ... Your will be done, Father.
I also say Amen to Fast Eddie's prayer. He was fortunate to be where doctors were immediately available.
Father I know that nothing is impossible for you, reach down and touch this man' heart and heal him in the name of Jesus. Amen
Samantha:: I will be praying for your dear dad too!
Just an Update:
It's been a rough few days for my father in law. He has pneumonia, pulmonary edema (water in lungs) and is really weak. Due to some serious negligence by nurses, he has had a rough time, but PTL he is some better. His breathing is not as bad as it was. Hopefully in a few days they will be able to do a heart cath (sp?) to find out more about the heart attack.
Thank you all so much for the prayers sent up on his behalf.
Samantha
PS His name is J.W.
UPDATE :
JW came home on Monday, hasn't sleep much since. Has swelling all over from heart not pumping as it should. Unless the Lord intervenes, his time on this earth is short (2weeks would be long they said). Taking him back to hospital today, please continue to pray for him and my husband, Terry is oldest and only son, not coping with this very well. Thanks all,
Samantha
Continuing to pray here
I'm so sorry. I will be continuing to pray as well.
Samantha, I'm going to go right now and pray for your father-in-law. I'm so sorry he's been going through all this. Please continue to update us.
God bless you as you care for him.
NEW UPDATE!
Yesterday, at a different hospital (not VA) the doctors tapped his lungs to remove the fluid and last night before we left him, he was able to lie down and breathe! That is a major accomplishment for JW. For the first time in about 2 weeks he was able to sleep (and be comfortable at the same time) They will be doing a heart cath on him in the morning, so please remember him for that. His color is looking much better and I could tell by his actions that he is feeling better. All the fluid around his lungs was keeping him from eating and his appetite has returned, also.
Thanks for all the prayers for him and his family,
Samantha
That sound like some good news. Samantha God bless you.
Oh, my goodness! I've updated the prayer list, Terri.
Samanta, I can relate to what you are experiencing as my father went through that same type of problem with the fluid build up and seeming to be near the end and when they got the fluid off he really perked up.
I also can relate, Samantha, as we had to go so often down to the hospital to have fluid removed from Jack's lungs and he felt so well immediately following this. I'm still praying for your father-in-law.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and comments. At 6:00 am tomorrow morning they will be doing open heart surgery on him. They say it will take 6 hrs to do all that needs to be done. From the flesh it looks bad, but the spirit knows that God is in control and regardless, it will be alright. Please remember my mother in law, as they have been married for almost 42 years, (they married real young, he was 17 and she was 13) all they've known is each other.
Thanks again
Samantha
I will include your father in law in my thoughts and prayers as he
awaits surgery tomorrow a.m.
also for your mother in law to find the strength and comfort
she needs at this time.
You are a dear to share this request with us.
love in Christ,
Joyce
Father, I pray You'll give the doctors wisdom and compassion for JW. I pray You'll give them insight to know how to interpret the cath insertion pix.
Sam - I had a minor attack about 4 years ago. I've been taking lecithin since, and blockages have disappeared! Don't let him be talked into bypass unless it's absolutely necessary.
They did a quadruple bypass about 3yrs ago and they say now (different doctors) that they have collapsed. Something about mitral valves not working. My parents died of cancer related illness, not heart attacks, so all of this is new to me. I was told they would be inserting some type of metal valve, but I'm not sure about that.
He was kind of hesitant about surgery again, but he must have changed his mind with the new doctors and all. Plus the expense of it too. The only insurance he had was that he could go to the VA hospital, but they tried to kill him there, so he is at the local hospital, and we don't know how much if any VA will pick up. Only know God is in control, and we all will do the best we can for him.
Samantha
Ohh, Samantha... I will be remembering you in prayer tomorrow. Amen to Al's prayer. Jack also had surgery--quadruple bypass--and came through fine. I do pray that it will be the same for your father-in-law.
God bless you, Samantha.
Samantha I am praying right now.
The surgery lasted approx. 8 hrs. there were 3 bypasses to be done and seems all went well. Now it's just a matter of hurry up and wait to see if he will recover from it. All indications are positive, though.
Thanks to all who have sent prayers out for him. May God bless you greatly!
Thanks again,
Samantha & Terry Slayton
My father - in - law, JW, came home from the hospital today. He seems to be doing quite well from the surgery, and is just waiting to get to feeling well enough to get on with what God has for him to do. (that came from his own mouth!)
Thanks to all who have sent prayers up on his behalf. We know if it weren't for those, he would be gone already!
He still has a long recovery, but Praise the Lord, he is still here with us!
Thanks,
Samantha
Thank You, Oh dear Father! Oh teach us all to nuber our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdo - for none of us knows the day or hour in which we must meet our Maker. Oh help him - and us - to get on with the work of glorifying You.
Thank you for the good praise report, Babycakes. Will keep praying.

SAM: Keep on encouraging JW...recovery is slower the older you are. He may get discouraged if he cannot do all the things he could before. It takes more time to recover.
FATHER: We pray that JW's recovery would progress as a fast rate and that he be back to his former self....
Samantha: Please know that I am praying too. Please keep us updated on your father-in-law's progress.
What a wonderful daughter-in-law you are, to be so concerned for both your in-laws!
When I think of all the turmoil over the Shaivo case, it frightens me to think what could come of all this. Its just so terrible letting that dear lady starve, and not even getting a drop of moisture on her lips.....just awful!
UPDATE -
My father in law is still doing pretty good after surgery. Is not going to be able to work, but is enjoying time with grandkids. The VA turned down paying the medical bill at the local hospital $140,000.00 so right now our main concern is fighting with VA to get them to pay for it.
Please pray for this situation to resolve itself. They are looking into lawsuits for paying the bill only, but really hate to have it come down to that.
God can take care of it all, if we will just ask.
Thanks
Samantha
You're absolutely right, SAMANTHA ... God knows exactly what each of us needs and just how to take care of us ... We can trust Him to make it all right ... In His Time!!
