Title: Pray for two friends with cancer
Post by: LizMarr on November 03, 2006, 12:53:26 AM
Six months ago, a friend of mine had a double-mastectomy and begain cancer treatment. She had found a lump six-months earlier can convinced herself that it was just a cyst as she didn't have insurance. So when she got insurance, she put off the exam until the lump got large and painful.  Then it was diagnosed as cancer of an agressive kind.  She continues treatment now.

Last week, another friend from the same group (Christian motorcyclists) had a biopsy done on her tongue.  It too has come back as cancer.  This dear friend has her 60 birthday in a couple weeks - some birthday.

Both are wonderful committed believers, so whatever the outcome it will be fine with them.  Of course, as their friends, we would like them to stay around as long as possible, God willing.

Please pray for treaments and outcomes and God's strength and blessing on these two wonderful women.

Liz

Lord God you have heard this prayer request, now I call upon you on behalf of these two lovely ladies, your handmaids. Oh great Jehovah Rapha, I pray for your healing power to flow into them  from the top of ther heads to the soles of their feet touching every organ, every cell, every blood vessel, every irregulairity within thier bodies. I pray that your power will burn out any thing that is not of you. You are the name above every name, you are the King of kings and the Lord of Lords. your are the most powerful healer an there is nothing impossible for you or with you. In Jesus name Amen.

Father, I pray not only for these two of Your blessed handmaidens, but also for their relatives and friends.  You alone know what is best for them all and for Your glory and the betterment of Your Kingdom - help all concerned to trust that wonderful wisdom of Yours.  I pray for their healing, but I pray even more earnestly for all of us to be concerned first for Your glory.  Oh Father, You know our hearts and that we want Your best through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thought that I'd update this.

In July 2007, my friend with breast cancer went home to be with the Lord.  I'm happy she is with the Lord now and not in pain, but mad as hell because her life should not have been wasted that way.  Please brothers and sisters, if you get a lump where it doesn't belong GO TO THE DOCTOR AND GET IT CHECKED OUT. And don't believe what the doctor says completely, keep checking it out.  Go to a good web site like Komen or use a google search for Brest Cancer Awareness or Testicular Cancer Awareness and read the signs, symptoms, and instructions for self-exam.  If my dear friend had gone to the doctor when she first found the lump, then the doctor would have told her what to look for and when it started growing she would probably have had it taken care of in time.  I remember when my mom had a cyst the doctor removed it immediately, my friend's doctor might have done the same with her if she went in when she first noticed it instead of talking herself out of going ("It's just a cyst, it can wait until my insurance starts in 5 months.")

As for my second friend, with the lesion on her tongue, she is doing well.  I spoke with her just a couple weeks ago and she's doing fine.

Thank you, Liz, for the update.  I am sorry for your loss of a good friend.  I recently had a friend of more than 50 years die with cancer.  I have had other friends and family also be taken with this disease.  My own daughter, for one.

I agree with you ... and I hate cancer ... it is so devastating.

I'll continue to pray for your friend with the lesion on her tongue.
