On December 22nd an MRI discovered a golf ball sized tumor on my son's brain stem. The day after Christmas he had surgery to remove what they could without doing further damage. The recovery was going well but he developed pneumonia and other complications and on Dec. 30th almost died. On Jan 5th he was given a trach, port, and g-tube for breathing and feeding.
His recovery since then has been very slow. 6 weeks of radiation treatments ended about a month ago, and at that point we were told the effects from the radiation would take another 3-5 weeks to wear off. Last Tuesday he finally got the port and trach out and a follow up MRI. The neurosurgeon and radiologist do not know what to make of the MRI results and are taking it to some kind of review board for other opinions. There is a possibility the the tumor is growing even after the radiation. [the tumor was benign and possibly 6-8 years old] The other possibility is that the radiation only 'revealed' more of the tumor than was visible before.
My son has been having bad headaches and his balance has gotten worse in the last week so we are very concerned. If the tumor is growing again there is nothing that can be done. ( Medically )
There is so much more to the story than I am able to put here, but I ask for your prayers for my son, his mother and myself, and his older brother and sister. We are asking God for a miracle and complete healing/restoration of his body. He is taking it well but often wonders 'why me'. Please also pray that he receives God's comfort and peace as well.

My prayers, too, for your son and your family as you face these trials.
I wish I were there to give you a "big ole HUG."
Do know we care and are praying for your son, the medical personnel, and all your extended family and friends.
