Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Psalm 92

This is a song of pure praise.  There are no complaints in it, no cries for help - no petitions at all. It's labeled as a "Song for the Sabbath day," so it's plainly intended to be shared among all the people of God, all who gather together for worship in the Lord's house.  It's the kind of song to which each worshipper should be able to respond with a hearty "amen!" Each worshipper should also eagerly join in singing actual praise to the Lord for what He has done.  It should be a happy, joyful gathering!  Every musician should pour forth musical-emotional praises on the lute, the harp, and the "instrument of ten strings."

But it isn't just emotion. There's objective praise of Jehovah for His daily works and for His Self revelation in those works.  For instance, in verses 5-9, there's praise for a Jehovah Who forever outlasts the works and workers of iniquity.  These rebels against God "spring up like grass" - they seem to prosper as though they had great strength, as though they would last forever.  But, as the psalmist says, they only flourish so well "that they may be destroyed forever!"

They're like the grass of the field in spring. It suddenly sprouts up, looking lush, green, and vital, then matures in the hot days of summer, then fades, dries up, is cut down, and perishes forever.  But meanwhile, long before the sprouting of the grass and forever after its fading and perishing, the "Lord is on high forevermore!"  Unlike the temporary things of this world, the Lord God is eternal!  The psalmist therefore sums up: "For behold, Your enemies, O Lord, for behold, Your enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered!"

Meanwhile, the covenant people of God experience their Lord's triumph in their own lives.  The psalmist says, "But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil."  The "horn" just stands for strength, and the worshipper sings that the eternal God will ALWAYS make His people strong, ALWAYS "anoint" them with "fresh oil."  They may not always feel strong, but, whether aware of it or not, they ARE strong in the strength of their eternal God.

The last word, then, is that "the righteous shall flourish," not like the grass that quickly dies, but "like a palm tree . . . like a cedar in Lebanon."  They'll "flourish in the courts of our God."  In fact, they'll even "bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing (even then), to declare that the Lord is upright."  In God's everlasting strength, they will continue strong, even through old age.  That's something to praise the Lord about!

Do you have confidence that your Lord can keep you like that?  Do you believe He'll keep you even through old age?  It doesn't mean that you will escape the infirmities of age, but that you'll always have the strength to accomplish His will in your life!  See the last words of the psalm: "He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him!"  Because God is righteous, your future is assured!  Use this psalm to praise the Lord!

I am so grateful that I do not have a lot of the infirmities of old age yet. I know that when they do come upon me that the Lord who is my rock will help me through those times with His presence and the Holy Spirit who gives me strength to face each day as it comes. I will continually praise my Lord every day for the rest of my life for what he has done for me and given to me.  I believe, yes I do believe that the Lord will keep me even through my old age.[/b]
