Trying to get better at people pictures. Tell me what you think of this one.
Any ideas for backgrounds?

The background is neutral, I like that.  He looks like he is intently watching something.

He is a good poser.  :)
Good focus on his eyes/face and I like the lighting on the hair.
I might have smoothed out his shirt below the chin so you can see more of his face.
Is that his knee on the left?  I might have also framed a bit more of that leg in the photo, but that's just me.  :)
Kids like to wear torn jeans, so I thought that maybe that suggestion would help show more of the kid/playfulness in him.  :)
I agree with Judy:  your background is neutral, there are no distractions, so that's good.  I have used dark sheets or blankets before, for backgrounds, but you have to be careful about lint, etc...they will show up in the picture like a sore thumb lol.  I couldn't afford real backgrounds, so I used whatever was handy lol.
