Title: You asked!
Post by: RogueSnapper on January 08, 2005, 01:01:59 AM
I can't say no to a request to testify about my Lord and Savior!

I was familiar with the concept of God at a young age. However, it wasn't exactly a normal type of situation. I started out life in Los Angeles, the daughter of a heroine addict and her husband. He left her a few years later and moved with his girlfriend, her son, my brother, and myself to the backwoods of Pennsylvania, where we went from a life surrounded by drugs and such to attending church and being enrolled in a strict fundamentalist Christian school. A lot had changed on the outside for our family, but a lot of bad still went on inside.

From the time I knew about God I viewed him as a Savior and fullly expected him to come riding in on clouds of glory and save me from the bad home situation and people who hurt me. When that didn't happen I turned my life over to Satan and told him that since God wouldn't help he, I wanted him instead. I was around 11 at that time.

Later in life I decided to forget both of them, and attempted to be an atheist. At around 20 I was waitressing and a Christian couple that came in started to be kind to me, inviting me to their home and simply talking to me. It got me thinking about God, although that was about the extent of it. I couldn't stop thinking about it though. I panicked at one point and decided the right thing to do was get out of my current lifestyle and marriage was the way I saw out. So after meeting a guy we talked about it and a few weeks after we met we were married.

It wasn't all that great. I did have three wonderful and beautiful little girls though. The birth of my first daughter and seeing her made me realize that I owed it to her to raise her right, and I began searching for a way to do this.
I tried a number of different belief systems, but still hadn't put my faith in Christ. That didn't happen until about 3 years ago.
I knew the story of the cross, but hadn't really gotten how it applied to me, and struggled with believing in who Christ was. However, Christ changed my heart and gave me the faith to believe, and by His grace my daughters will be raised in a decent Christian home. I'm thankful for His gift to us every day.

I'm now divorced and have moved across the country in order to get away from the situation with my ex and start a new life. We were blessed to have met a wonderful Christian couple who helped us make the move and with getting settled. I plan to go to college and get my degree, and the couple I mentioned has made it possible for the gilrs to attend a decent Christian school, which they will start at the end of this month.
I do hope to somehow get into mission work, or any type of work that will allow me to be used by God. My certification will be in nursing, so I'm seeing the good possibility of that being used in the future in missions work.

I would appreciate your prayers as I try to keep this family on track, and also as I do fear what my ex is capable of doing, and in the past has said he would. I'm thankful to be across the country from him now and that has eased the tension somewhat, but there's really nothing that can stop him from getting on the next plane either. I'm praying to God for protection and would appreciate your help in that. He has done so much in my life already, I want to be around to enjoy it and try to do what I can to let him work through me for other people too!

Gina, you have quite a testimony.  It's so wonderful to read of all God has done in your life....All along God knew you would come. :)  You have been blessed with the Christians in your life.  I'm so happy for you.

You've found the right place to ask for prayer too.  There are many wonderful sisters and brothers who come to this site.....when they say they will pray, you can be sure they will.

Thank you for posting here. Blessings to you, Gina.  love, Nita

Gina,

Wow, I knew there had to be something more in regards to your testimonial, as the first one seemed like something was missing.

Have you thought of what College that ya might attend?  Some real good one's that I know of is:
Hyles-Anderson College (In Indianna) & also Pensacola Bible College (In Florida).  FairHaven In Indianna.

I'll be praying for you, too.  May God bless you & overfill your cup with many blessings,
K4J

I'm in Oregon and Rogue Community College is only a few minutes down the highway. :) I have 3 kids, so relocating isn't something desirable, especially considering I just did that last month!

Okay!!  I just thought if it were the Lord's will, that:  All things are Possible with God.

But that is okay, I understand.  Maybe sometime in the future.  For I'm sure the Lord can do some awesome things in your life wherever you are & can change your hearts desire if it be according to his will for your life.

May God Continue to bless your life,
K4J
