Morning Devotional...

Feed on the Word!

"Attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes."
(Proverbs 4:20-21)

Once you've made the Word of God final authority in your life, your first step to victory over the attacks of the enemy is to go to the Word and lay hold of God's promises concerning your situation.

Notice I said, "Go to the Word." It's good to have the Word committed to memory. But don't let that substitute for getting the Word before your eyes on a daily basis.

Think about it this way. It never did a hungry person any good to think about what a potato tastes like. Not even if he can remember it perfectly. The same thing is true with the Word of God. It's important to keep it in memory, but it's also necessary to go directly to it and feed your spirit with it. There is power in keeping the Word in front of your eyes and going into your ears. That's how it gets in your heart, so you can live by it.

So don't just think about the Word today, read it. Go to the promises that cover your situation. Feed on those promises and grow strong!

Good morning!  I seem to have been able to get the NEM posted before anyone else attempted to post.  Was CP down last night?  I wasn't able to access it when I was trying to post today's NEM........but all's well that ends well.

I am going to make some  :coffee: and get ready to go work out.  Anyone want to join me?

Papa John

Good morning Janet.  Thanks for reminding us of the importance of the word.  We should read it, study it, meditate on it, and put it in practice in our everyday lives.

James 1:21-22  Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
(NIV)

Papa John

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

I must be stuck on routine.  It is weird how just changing one thing will mess my whole week up.  A few weeks ago our trash pick up day was changed from Wednesday to Monday.  As I was getting the trash together yesterday morning, I was thinking...phooey.  I forgot to get the mail and paper yesterday.  Now I will have trash as soon as I take the trash out.  THEN I realized that 'yesterday' was Sunday...no mail, no paper.  Then today, my alarm went off.  I was thinking it was Wednesday, trash day.  But it's Tuesday and I put out the trash on Monday.  I don't know why my alarm went off today.  Well, yes, I do.  I forgot to turn it off so it wouldn't alarm today.  Then when I sat down to this pc, I got my devotional book.  I put the devotional in the 'Back Room for Moderators' for next week.  I don't do that on Tuesday, I do that on Wednesday!  I am truly mixed up.  Tell me it is old age and not the Big A......please!!

My cholesterol was great....184.  My triglycerides were high...185, should be below 150.  But my glucose is high....131, should be below 100.  When you get two high glucose readings in a row, then they want you to start doing something about it.  So next, I am to go to a dietician to find out what to eat and not eat....no one in my family is diabetic.  I am a sweet-aholic.  I will eat sweets rather than a meal.  I know I am bad.  And I love carbs....the bad carbs that turn to sugar so now I have to watch what I eat.  After seeing the dietician, I will be tested again in 3 months.  So pray that I stick with my diet and the numbers go down but also that my new way of eating will become a life-style.  I am thinking this is a win-win situation....lower glucose + weight-lose=less back pain, feeling better all around.

Tonight is Beef and Boards and seeing Singing in the Rain.  I am hoping it is as good as the movie!

Today would have been my husband's 76th birthday.  He has been gone almost 15 years.  Some ways it seems like yesterday and other way....longer than 15 years.

God bless everyone!

Good Messages Janey and Papa John.

I have a school meeting with Melaura, to pick out the subjects for her courses.  There is a bit of a conflict between her and the school, she wants to repeat some courses too get the academic subjects she needs to go where she wants to go.  The school doesn't want her repeating.  We will work it out today.

Etta Sue that is not the big A.  Truth be told i think we all have days like that.  You WILL be ok, just remember friday is Good Friday, this is a short week.  Love you Sis

It is already +10*C and it is still morning.  Looks like another beauriful day.

God bless
Judy

ATTENTION!!

Last evening at Photography Guild, we had a great speaker....he showed wonderful photography on the overhead, he was comical, he was down to earth.

He gave us a paper on his tips to improve your photography which I have put on CP....here.

I thought it was very interesting and lots of information!  I am just praying that you enjoy this as much as me.  And, by the way, the clickables are great, too!  Lots of information there, too.

Ritz

Good morning Everyone! Thanks for the devotional Janet, I love the Copelands.

Etta Sue, that's so sweet of you to post those tips, I'm sure we'll all find something usefull in them.

God's best to all of you! Peace, Ritz.

Marilyn

Last night I posted Marybeth latest paint in Creations with a brush. Al sent the photo to me to post, I see that no one has looked at it. It is also in My gallery if you choose to see a bigger more detailed photo.

Today I am taking Jan to Eureka we are going to do some shopping and drop off a few things at the Tailwaggers thrift shop. All the proceeds there go to the Sequoia Human Society. I have a bag of stuff and so does she.

More rain off and on today so what else is new? ::)

Thanks Marilyn, for posting Marbeth's painting.  It's great of you to do it for me (ignorant, slow-witted me).  She's doing several new ones, so maybe we'll eventually have them too.

Good day to all.

Thanks for that great devotional today Janet. I do believe there is a promise in the word of God for every situation we face.

Its a beautiful sunny day and yes its starting to warm up :) :) :)
Marylin--- I did check out  Marbeth's painting you posted. I thought it was awesome and thanks for sharing it.

Enjoyed reading all the post-God's blessing to you all. Have a great day.

Papa John, as usual I say a big AMEN to your post.  It is awesome how the Scripture is always as fresh as today's news!

Etta Sue, you are only suffering from JUS.  (Jumbled up Scheduling!)  We are all such creatures of habit, and when things are mixed around, we get confused.  :-\  I thought today was Wednesday, so I have an extra day this week!  :)  I'd love to see Singing in the Rain with you, bet it will be great.

Marilyn, I also looked at the painting, was ready to go to bed, thus no comment, plus I want to see it larger before commenting.

Melody, thank you for your faithfulness in posting here.  Can you tell us a little about where you live, please?  Thanks.

Hi, Ritz!!

I just stopped by to see how things are going today on CP, now I must get back to the many tasks at hand.  See you later!

Liz

Thanks for the devotional, Janet.  I need to read the Bible more....not getting to church has certainly had a negative effect!

Marilyn, I did go and look at the picture.  Want to use Zoom and have a better look.  Interesting picture and colors.  Please post more.

I am struggling with a change of medication and not a happy camper.  Makes me most grumpy!

So here is a word of caution to me:

Be careful of the words you say,
Keep them soft and sweet.
You'll never know from day to day
Which ones you'll have to eat!

Pleasant Day/Evening all and God Bless.

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Chris & Margit Saunders

---
WORLD CHALLENGE, INC.
Dearly Beloved:
In prayer today, the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart about
four expectations that God's people should trust him to
bring to pass in 2006. These expectations are based on
absolute promises God has made to us. God is a
promise-maker and a promise-keeper.

1. EXPECT TO BE REWARDED AS YOU DILIGENTLY SEEK THE LORD IN
2006. "God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him"
(Hebrews 11:6).

You can ask in faith for a token for God to encourage and
rekindle your confidence. God is always on time, and he
knows you need a ray of hope and good news in your testing
time. Expect him to keep his promise to reward you now when
you are in greatest need. God cannot lie. He said he
rewards those who diligently seek him. Seek him daily and
truly believe 2006 will be your year of great spiritual
blessing.

2. EXPECT TO SEE EVIDENCE OF A PROGRESSIVE MIRACLE IN YOUR
LIFE IN 2006. "With God all things are possible" (Mark
10:27).

I have written about instantaneous miracles and progressive
miracles. Progressive miracles start in unseen, quiet ways
and unfold little by little, one small mercy act at a time.
You are now in such a miracle. Expect to see God working in
mysterious ways, unseen to the human eye. This should be
the year you can say, "I don't know how; I don't see much
happening; but I believe God set in motion an answer to my
prayers the hour I first asked."

3. EXPECT TO ENTER INTO GOD'S PROMISED PLACE OF REST IN
2006. "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of
God...enter into that rest" (Hebrews 4:9, 11).

Last year was one of the most stressful for many believers.
It was a year of incredible calamities, problems and
trials. This year the Lord desires that you believe him to
bring you into his promised rest. God never intended that
his children live in fear and despair. We need a reckless
faith, a trust in God in the face of fear, trouble and
death itself. The year 2006 is the year to lay it all on
Jesus.

4. EXPECT THE HOLY SPIRIT TO BE ALWAYS IN HIS TEMPLE IN
2006. "Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy
Spirit" (1 Corinthians 6:19).

The Holy Spirit abides in the heart of the believer. He is
omnipresent throughout the world and universe. I face each
day acknowledging that he is here in his temple to comfort
me, guide me, encourage me, anoint me, and to reveal the
glory of Jesus Christ in ever-increasing revelations. In
2006 he desires that you expect him to make his presence
manifest to you, and more so each passing day.

Believe these promises! Lay hold of these four expectations
and you will see marvelous things this next year.

Your missions gift is so vital to the ongoing worldwide
outreaches of our ministry to widows, orphans, the addicted
and the poor and hungry.

God bless and keep you in all your ways.

In Christ,
DAVID WILKERSON

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It has been another beutiful day weatherwise here in Georgia.  The temperature is in the mid-70s and the humidity is low.

Today was our monthly luncheon at our local senior center.  We only had 23 turn out but still had a very nice luncheon and enjoyed the kidergarten children from the school across the street coming to sing a couple of songs for us.  They also gave us some colorful placemats, as they have been doing each time they come to sing.  These were so pretty that we brought them home to use through Easter.  They are lamanated so can easily be wiped off.

This afternoon we were very saddened when our daughter came home in mid-afternoon and told us they had called her and told her she was fired.  Not for anything she has or hasn't done but the man she replaced changed his mind and wants his job back.  Needless to say she is heart broken and our hearts ache for her.  She had only worked for 2 1/2 weeks and had accomplished a lot.  Georgia is a tough state in which to work as employees have absolutely no rights and can be fired at any time with or without a reason.  It just seems that a "little black cloud" follows her around.  So now she must look for work again and mom and dad have no relief in the support department, which we had been looking foward to.  This too shall pass.

Janet, a very good devotional today and it reminds me that I must be more attentive to reading my Bible.  Chris, the Wilkenson piece was also very good.

Etta Sue, our trash pickup changed to Monday a few months back and I am still trying to adjust to the change.  In fact only a few weeks ago we forgot and had a full container.  Fortunately my neighbors can wasn't full and he helped me out as his collection day is on Wednesday.  Hope the play is great tonight and you have a wonderful time.

Liz, being "grumpy" just doesn't fit my mental picture of you.  Hope the meds can be straightened out soon and you will be feeling better.

Al, just a few minutes ago I also looked at the picture of Marbeth's very nice painting that Marilyn posted.  Marilyn, thanks for helping Al share the painting.

Ed, your comments on the parents role is certainly "right on".  It is tough to have to stand back and let life happen to your children but that is what happened to us as well and that is what life is all about.

JudyB, glad to read your are having better and warmer weather up your way.

Pat, hope your trip to London today didn't set you back on your recovery.

Hi Kevin, Ritz Samanta, and Melody.

Ritz

Sorry to hear about your daughters situation Larry, God says in his word, that one skilled in their craft will serve before Kings...so, no doubt she'll be finding a better job soon.

Thanks Chris! That was right on time!

Thank you, Janet, for today's devotional.  It sure reminds us of how important God's Word is.  You just have to love the Author of the Book!  ;D

Larry, hello to you, too.  I will pray now for your daughter's work situation.  I have been there and it is not fun. :-\

I am back from our shopping trip today. We went to Michael's Craft store where I bought a CD called Serenity it is all The Panpipe flute music  with the sounds of a mountain stream flowing through. it is so relaxing a peaceful. I just love it. I could probably use it to do Tai Chi  with also here at home.

We went to Ross where I bought an 6 inch frying pan and some gourmet coffee. Then to the Dollar tree and on to Costco. I had a Polish dog with kraut for lunch.

Now I have a pot of Baby Lima's cooking in free range chicken broth. Smells so good.

My doctors office called me yesterday to have me come in for the results o wearing the Holter for 24 hours. They also faxed over the  order for my yearly Mammo.

Janet

Oh, Larry, I'm so sorry about your daughter losing her job.  That has to hurt!  I have only been fired once in my life, and will never forget the damage it did to my self-esteem.  It was about the worst experience of my life.  I will continue to pray for her and for you and Pat.  Things just have to get better for your family!

I'm watching the Ten Commandmanets, trying to type this during commercials.    ^-^

Liz, hope you feel better soon!  And I don't think you are grumpy.  ;)

See all of you tomorrow!

Carol

It is good to be here once again, after being away for five weeks!  Forgive me for not knowing much about what has happened.

Larry:  Oh, big hug to your daughter and you & Pat as well - we all ache more for our children than ourselves.  Her next job will be much better!

Marilyn:  I really like your new picture - so relaxed!

Etta Sue:  Have to admit that we drove through Indiana and I thought of you - we were on the Tollway coming from the east coast & so tired of driving that we could not have gone any extra miles - what a nice highway.  That day, we drove from Washington, D.C. to the suburbs of Chicago - enough!

Pat Scott:  Hi - I am glad to be sitting down in the house once more - I hope all is well with you.  Don & I are not too sure about going to the Montreal Bash - it is looking rather pricey.  Have to make a decision soon.

Anthony:  I saw your post - hello & good days to you as well.

Jenny wrote a little email - wish she would come back.  She said it has been quite cold.

Carol

P.S.  Hi Janet - almost stepped on your toes.  I do hope all is calm for you now.  I have not been checking in here so feel so out of step with everyone.

Pat

Hi Everyone...

Today was a very long day for me.  I left the house at 7 am and headed to London to the Dental College and didn't get home till after 5 pm.

Larry, I'm so sorry to read about your daughter.  That's so sad.

Al, please feel free to set up your album in the Gallery.  We hope that everyone does this.  Thanks Marilyn for helping.

I'm very tired after this long day of fighting traffic on the 401 and also having my mouth open for a few hours!

So, time to lock the door here and please just continue the conversation in tomorrow's New Every Morning.
