"Nothing is so offensive to Christ
as lukewarmness in religion."

~J. C. Ryle~

Morning Devotional...

So let my life be much set by in the eyes of the LORD, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation.
1 Samuel 26:24

I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul.
1 Samuel  27:1

Young David moved from the pinnacle of confidence to the "slough of
despond" in a matter of hours.

In these days of terrorism, catastrophic events, and uncertainty, the adversary will see to it that we are assailed by doubt constantly--questioning our Lord's care of us.

The moment we take our eyes off the Saviour and begin to look at self and circumstances we're vulnerable to defeat. Peter discovered that in his brief walk on the Sea of Galilee.

Keep your eyes on Him and the waves will never overwhelm you.
--Wm. Gustafson

O troubled heart be not afraid,
let thine eyes on God be stayed,
Whate'er thy sorrow, let faith not fade,
He will surely give thee aid.

Hello to all at C.P.  Thank you for this great devotional Pat it reminds me how easy it is to take our eyes of the Lord and how the Devil uses everything the is possible to do that.  But again the Lord always gives you the strength to get around his horrible ways.

It was so good to talk to you the other night and I will be praying for your continued renewal of strength.

Pappa Jonh I am continuing to pray for you and Corneilia and strength for both of you.

My new job is a little easier this week and I think it just getting used to being back to work.

Our family will be coming this weekend and could you also pray for us that we would be a witness to them as some of them are not following the Lord thank you.

I pray that you all will have the most wonderful weekend and be able to have a wonderful day on Sunday in the House of the Lord.
The Lord bless  Gord.

Hi Pat,

Thanks for the good Word today.  When hard times come my way, I must, I must keep my eyes on the One who can calm the storms.

And thanks for the congratulations.  I was surprised my photo would be so well received by the members of Photography-Cafe and very honored.  A person can surely learn a lot from others and from trying new things.

I'll post the pict in our gallery, too, for those who want to take a look.

Pat:  Enjoyed your devotion today - keeping the eye on our Father and the waves will not be overwhelming.  Noticed that you have been at the dental school again - do hope that this will come to an end for you at some point.  It is so tiring to have hours of dental work and then you have a long drive home as well.

Papa John

Gordon, thank you for your prayers.  The therapist came yesterday and Cornelia's blood pressure was very low.  She called our cardiologist and they called back and made an appointment for us to come and see the doctor today.  Otherwise she continues to get better but she is still far from well.

Pat, thanks for the devotional today.

Col 3:1-2  Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
(NIV)

Rev 3:14-16  And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;  I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.  So then .because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
(KJV)

Papa John

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Papa John, it's so good that the medical folks are keeping close tabs and getting you to the doctor today!  That's good.  Still praying for our dear sister.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Just back from the Cafe where we enjoyed a nice time of relaxed conversation among friends.  Tonight is choir practice and I am so hopeful that my son will keep his word and attend.  I will check with him a little later just to remind him.

It is a bit overcast this morning but no rain predicted for us and it is suppose to get in the high 70s today and the rest of the week should be nice.

Pat, are you going to have to have extensive dental work again?  It seems like yesterday that you completed the marathon of dental work.

Papa John, glad to see that Cornelia is continuing to progress but good to have her checked out today.  I am sure there must be a delicate balance in her medications and I know some of the meds I take cause my blood pressure to run pretty low.

Thank you all for your concern and prayers for our daughter.  She has headed out to class this morning and after that will go to see the pain clinic again as the medication they prescribed seems to have quickly lost its effectiveness and he is experiencing significant pain in her legs and feet.

Gord, glad your new job is more enjoyable this week.  Getting used to a new work environment is always a bit of a challenge.

Kevin, congratulations on your new photo.

Erick, welcome to the CP site and I look forward to getting to know a little about you.

Carol, I am sure you are happy to be home again.  Sometimes the best part of a trip is when we settle into our favorite easychair and sleep in our own bed again.

Marilyn, that was quite a shopping spree you went on yesterday.  It sounds like you make some good purchases.  My wife recently got a new set of skillets that we can put in the dishwasher and that is very nice.

Guess I had better move on to some other projects.

Pat

No Larry...

I just went for a check up and have to go next week to have a couple of small fillings.

OK I am starting all over again.

Good Morning; Pat good word this morning.
QuoteKeep your eyes on Him and the waves will never overwhelm you.
Something I have been trying to do more of. I can feel Him tapping on my shoulder telling me "I am in control" and for me to just keep my eyes on Him.

I slept so good last night  couldn't believe it when I opened my eyes and looked at the clock and 6 hours had passed since I turned out the light.

Fay called yesterday and told me that she is giving me the rest of the week off with pay. Her nephew is here visiting from Southern California for a few days and she hasn't seen him in years.

Today I am running errands with Pastor Leroy to finish getting all the arrangements made for Joanne's burial and memorial service. The burial will be tomorrow and the service next week.

This time of year here is called Godwit days, The Godwits are migrating and it seems that every speck of large grassy areas are covered with hem. The Senior center here sits on the edge of a park.  Monday the park was covered with Godwits. So today I am taking my camera and even tho' it is raining I am going to be out there taking photos of those neat little birds.

I think  got it all here that was lost.

Congratulations Kevin.

I am hurrying but the more I hurry the more behinder I get.

Carol ~ You were still about 3 hours away from me if you were on I-90.  But if you are ever near Indianapolis, do let me know!

Larry ~ Sorry about your daughter's job.  She will find a better and much better liked job soon!

Marilyn ~ I, too, saw Marbeth photo.  Really neat!!  Love the colors.
But I didn't comment, either.

Janet ~ The play was awesome...my favorite so far.  And it really rained on stage while they were dancing and singing in the rain.  The people at floor level got wet!  A girl played a dumb blond superbly!  I laughed once so hard I was crying and now I can't think of what was funny!  But the dancing, singing and acting was fabulous!!

The plumber came last evening.  I now have hot water again...it wasn't a fuse if the part he left on a paper is what he replaced.  Will have to call him to find out what was wrong.  And I have 4 long, white downspouts that will allow the rain to drain away from my house.  I think I am done with home improvements for the time being.

Now to improve my body with a diabetic diet and exercise and a bone density test.

Today I am taking the couple to Bloomington for Walter to have his speech therapy.  There is a new steak house that has opened so we are going there first....then to Bloomington.  Long day.

Kitty is home from grandmother duties.  Maybe I will see her tomorrow.

WELCOME, ERICK!!  We hope you will feel right at home here and tell us a little about yourself!

Etta Sue, now I REALLY wish I could have gone to the play with you!  :)  I'm glad it was great and that you had such a good time.  Also glad that you are through spending the $$$ on home improvements for a while.

I am continuing the "body improvements" and this morning Kristi had a new series of upper body exercises for me.  I made it through two and a half of the three sets, then my aroms just collapsed.  :-\  But she said I should be proud; that I did great.  ;)

Pat, glad you are home safe, wish you didn't have to make that trek to London again so soon.

Carol, welcome home!!  It's so good to have you back!  We missed you.

Larry. it is good that you have many interests and abilities.  I'm sure lots of people enjoy having you around!  God bless you, brother.

Papa John, good they are staying on top of Cornelia's condition, and I pray she continues to get better and gain strength day by day.

Marilyn, it seems like it has been quite a while since that lady died.  How many days has it been?  I am a little surprised they haven't had the funeral yet.

I am supposed to be at our ladies' luncheon at 11:30, then Beth has two doctors' appointments this afternoon.  So I better get crackin'!
