Morning Devotional...

Ye are blessed of the Lord which made heaven and earth.
Psalm 115:15

The limitless resources of the God who created the universe ensure both the unfailing quantity and unmatched quality of His blessings.

Our perspective is so restricted; we fail to appreciate that His abilities are unlimited and that in His all-knowing love He allocates blessings precisely suited to meet our needs.

Trust Him for what you need today.
--Garry W. Seale

I know that ev'rywhere I look
I see His guiding hand,
More beauty, mercy, love and faith,
Than I can understand.

Blessed Assurance
(Click to hear music)

Words by Fanny Crosby
Music by Phoebe P. Knapp

Hebrews 10:22
"Let us draw near with a true heart
in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience,
and our bodies washed with pure water
."

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Refrain
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Refrain
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long.

Perfect submission, all is at rest;
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

Refrain
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior, all the day long.

Thanks Pat... reminds me that we own nothing, we are only stewards.

I never managed to respond yesterday to the messages about the Passion.  I want to see it.  A little while ago my son brought home a DVD with the Passion on.  He had received it from his girl friends' father who had just returned from Hong Kong.  I settled down to watch when I realised it was a pirated copy.  I closed it up and sent it back.  My sons girlfriends father is a Christian and had sent it back with my son to watch so he could question him.  My suggestion to my son was to read the Bible account and to tell the father he should not watch stolen films (diplomaticaly).

         WILL TO BE FAITFULL

Joshua 24 : 15
"CHOOSE for yourselves this day whom you will serve."

When God gives me a vision of truth, there is
never a question of what He will do, but only
   of what I will do.
Don't consult with other Christians, but simply
   and freely declare before Him,
   "I will serve You."

MARGIT your writing yesterday was very good. This morning i have it read in the morning understand i beter English then late in the evening. :)

Pat, the song, Blessed Assurance, is a great comfort for us when we think about the fact that "Jesus is mine."  Thanks for these morning devotions.

Gareth, you are right in saying that we should not accept pirated products.  It is amazing how little thought people give to honesty and integrity as a part of the Christian life.

Good morning, (afternoon) Ria.  It is nice to see you here every day.  Thank you for your scriptures and poems.

And another welcome to LAURIELBLACK.  Come on in and tell us about yourself.

We had another stormy night last night and it was very cloudy earlier this morning but now the sun is out.

I hope you all have a good day.

Seems to be a bit slow in here today.  Everyone is busy, I imagine.  I had another of those sleepless nights.  I went to sleep early and woke up at 12:30, stayed awake until around 5:00. :( ???  This is getting tiresome.

Abby has learned our number and has been calling me several times a day.  I wonder what her Mom will say when she finds out?  But it isn't long distance now, thankfully--we can call a pretty wide area just for local rates.  That has been a really good thing for us.

My Mom called and wants me to come see her today, so I will go see what's happening with her.

Yes, Ria, I am still painting!

That is to bad! I am sorry to hear you are not sleeping well.  That happens to me every now and then. Can be tiresome.

Woohooo...You go, Abby!  That is funny. Chandraya called me the other day.  She was so cute.  It is hard to hear her though because her voice is so high.  Hurts my ears.  Is Abby in dance this year?

Good Morning!  I have just showered, shampooed, and gotten dressed...all by myself!  ;D  My right arm is only a little sore and only hurts when I reach or try to lift something, so maybe I'm gonna get better after all ???
A friend is coming in about an hour to vacuum and dust for me and, hopefully another will be here to cut the grass in my yard.  Once that's cut, I want to order another load of wood and there's yet another friend that I will call to have him stack it for me.  I am so blessed to have such friends who want to--really want to--help in any way that I need.

I hope all y'all have a truly blessed day ...
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Nice devotional, Pat.  God certainly does 'allocate blessings precisely suited to meet our needs.'

Sorry about your eyes, Ria.  I am also having some problems, so can relate.  Do you have trouble putting in the drops?  I make a mess of it!

The new bunny has settled down nicely.  Has to have been someone's pet or would not be so content.  I watched him while having coffee this morning.  He cleaned himself for about 30 minutes.  They are like cats in this respect.  It is possible that he might have escaped his previous home...more likely got abandoned.
Certainly helping Amanda to take her mind off the loss of little Sadie.

Have a boring agenda today Sonja.  Ironing a huge pile of summer clothes.  We have had an early warm spell on the island and temps. that have broken records...for heat.  Cooler today and more like Spring than Summer.

I learned something new about flowers the other day.  Tulips close their flowers in the evening and re-open in the morning.  Fantastic....

Have a great day everyone.

Hi to all, I'm back in Jersey again.

I had a delightful, restful time in Penna.--
went to an ecumentical service on Good Friday;
priest, ministers (7 in all) had a very good service.

There is something about Good Friday services that draw
me in to HIS love.

I was so comfortable there; not wanting to leave. I felt HIS love there even though I hurted so knowing that I caused some of his pain on the cross.

Weather was warm and had a great Easter visiting with family and friends. Yes, I ate too, too much but it was nice to sit and relax and enjoy the food with good people.

Hope you all had a great day of Blessed re-newal.

Hi to all newcomers--this is a great place to visit.

Going to the prayer forums to play "catch-up"..

Take care and as always,  Love in Christ,
Joyce

I forgot to ask;

I know that some of you listen to Charles Stanley--have any of you have his books--which ones?  which do you suggest I purchase.

Thinking of setting up some time this spring to sit by the stream and read and I thought of Charles Stanley messages how I enjoy them.  Hopefully someone can mention some of his books.

Also, I think someone mentioned Joyce Meyers Ministries--what books do you like by her??  She is so powerful; enjoy her most mornings before I leave for work --inspiring..

Love in Christ,

Joyce

Prayer: Take Time to Listen

The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the
simple. I opened my mouth and panted, for I longed for Your
commandments.
-Psalm 119:130-131

The Quakers had many fine ideas about life, and there is a story from
them that illustrates the point I am trying to make. It concerns a
conversation between Samuel Taylor Coleridge and a Quaker woman he
had met. Maybe Coleridge was boasting a bit, but he told the woman
how he had arranged the use of time so he would have no wasted hours.
He said he memorized Greek while dressing and during breakfast. He
went on with his list of other mental activities--making notes,
reading, writing, formulating thoughts and ideas--until bedtime.

The Quaker listened unimpressed. When Coleridge was finished with his
explanation, she asked him a simple, searching question: "My friend,
when dost thee think?"

God is having a difficult time getting through to us because we are
a fast-paced generation. We seem to have no time for contemplation.
We have no time to answer God when He calls.
Jesus, Author of our Faith, p. 46

"Thank You, Lord, that You convicted me some time ago about this
need for time to think, of the need for solitude and silence. Make
this increasingly possible for me, but also for many of my brothers
and sisters who have not discovered the value of this slowing down.
Amen."

Please read and enjoy what my daughter sent me in my email.

Husband and wife were "discussing" who would make the morning coffee.

Wife said --you should do it because you wake up first and then we would not have to wait for our coffee.

Husband said --you should do it because you are in charge of cooking and it is your job and I can wait.

Wife said --No, you should besides its in the Bible --that the man should do the coffee.

Of course, the husband did not believe her and said show me--

The wife took out the Bible and opened to the New Testament and showed him several pages and indeed it says......

Hi everyone.  Have had a busy day and will be brief here as have some other things I need to do.

After walking and then coffee this morning, we went to see a room that the builder we are considering for our project had built a bathroom in an attic area.  The man was very gracious and spoke very highly of the work of this man.

Then we went to the Senior Center for our monthly luncheon.  Following that we went to the church as this was Calvin Cove day and Pat did her children's packets for this week.

By the time we got home we were both pretty tired so laid down and took a nap.

It has turned very chilly here today and is suppose to get down to 36 degrees tonight.  Pat brought the hanging baskets in from the porch to protect them for tonight.  It is suppose to be warmer tomorrow.

Pat, glad to hear that your dental work is over.

Glad to see the posting for today.

Soni ~ I don't like needles either because the only thing small on me are my veins.  And I think they have eyes.  When a needle gets near they move!!!  I usually have a big bruise for 7-10 days afterwards.  :o :o  The nurse told me that no one could ever accuse me of being a druggy because I would never get a needle in my veins to shoot up!!   8) 8) But this nurse did say to hydrate myself before coming...drink lots of liquids.  That makes it easier for me AND her.  BTW, I didn't get a red ribbon for good veins.

Liz ~ Long ago I was told when putting drops in your eyes to close your eye and put the drop in the corner of your eye and then open your eye and let the drop flow in.  Works for me but make sure you have no make up on!!!   ;)

I had a wonderful lunch at the Chinese Buffet with my classmate.  I thought for awhile the Chinese were going to run us out we talked so long.

When I got home, Ivalou was pulling in her drive so I went over and talked to her for awhile.  Tomorrow she is going to the Dentist and I am going with her and, of course, we will eat out somewhere before coming back home.

Etta Sue

I got this in an email this morning.  I didn't check out the verses to see if they were right but they sound right.

Good afternoon all.

Janet, I shared your sleepless night.  I've been tired all day, but it's raining, so it's a day for styaing in anyway.  We had such warm weather last Saturday, it almost spoiled me.  But then again.....this is Oregon. :D  We enjoy the sunshine and accept the rain that makes Oregon so beautiful and green.  I really like the rain, but this year I'm ready for SPRING.

Pat, that's one of my favorite songs.  I remember when I first met Jesus at age 40, I would sing that over and over and tears flowed through every verse.  It was, and is, amazing......absolutely amazing that He could love us so.

Jane, you are really smokin'.  Don't overdo.  I'm sure Wanda has come and gone by now.  Your carpet looks better than mine, I think. :)   I'm going to get my vacuuming done in just a minute.

Joyce, I don't have any of Charles Stanley's books.  I really like his messages, but have never read anything he's written.  Sorry, can't help you.   :-*  I'm glad you had a restful time in Penn.

Etta Sue, those are neat reminders of how we do disagree with what God says about us at times.  I used to have a book of affirmations that I'd read from time to time.  I'd forgotten about it.

ok...Soni.  Just for you.  My plans for the day, which is almost over:  1. Try to curl hair, watch frizzies, spray, comb, see more frizzies than before. 2. call for hair cut.  3. get hair cut. 5: eat turkey sandwich.    oh yeah.......and try to remember what number 4 was.  Did I mention this is a do nothing day?  I'm reading, The Day I Was Crucified By Jesus Christ. Gene Edwards is the author.  I read awhile and have to put it down and meditate on what I've read.....then go back again.    :'( :D :-\ :) ;D

Cold and rainy today, but that's OK.   ;D  My "new" dryer is installed and already working hard.  I've sure got spoiled.  I didn't have a dryer all the while my kids were growing up - hung everything outdoors summer and winter.  I remember diapers that looked like pieces of wood on the line.   ::)

Joyce, I don't have any of Stanley's books, but I do have some of Joyce Meyers' - The Word, The Name, The Blood which I'm reading now, How to Enjoy Where You Are on the Way to Where You're Going and Secrets to Exceptional Living.  She writes just like she preaches.

Ruth and Mel, it's late, I know, but best wishes for a wonderful anniversary!  (Sorry I don't have a "card" but until I figure what to delete from my site I'm out of room)

Papa John

Marilyn, it looks like we may have another stormy night tonight but tomorrow it is supposed to be sunny but chilly for here.  Saturday we drive back to Nashville.  Today they had rain mixed with snow in Nashville and in an adjoining county they had several inches of snow.  Very unusual for middle Tennessee the middle of April.

Soni, and Etta Sue, and Ria, beautiful welcomes for Shaggy.

Janet, sorry you couldn't sleep last night.  I hate it when that happens.  The doctor has given me some medicine for sleep when that happens to me so if I wake up and can't go back to sleep I take some and usually it works.

Jane, it is nice to have friends who step in to help when you need it.  We have an especially good neighbor who keeps our lawn mowed all the time.  He is  a rather young man to be retired and he says it helps him to have things to do.

Liz, it is fun to observe how animals, like rabbits, and cats, clean themselves like they were getting ready to go somewhere.

Joyce, it is good to be home isn't it?  Well, we are heading home Saturday after five weeks away.  I think I will be glad to get back to my own recliner and my own bed at night.

Chris and Margit, a good story with a good point.  Often we do not take time to think.  Thinking sometimes is hard work.  We do need to think about our blessings, our opportunities, and our priorities in life.

Larry, I saw about the cold weather which moves down this way.  Not far from Nashville they had snow today.  I'm hoping when we head home Saturday it will be to good weather.

A lot of people in here today.  Good to see also Nita, Sue, and Jeanne Lee.

Pat, now that the dental work is finished what are you going to do with your time?  (BG)
