Morning Devotional...

Ye are blessed of the Lord which made heaven and earth.
Psalm 115:15

The limitless resources of the God who created the universe ensure both the unfailing quantity and unmatched quality of His blessings.

Our perspective is so restricted; we fail to appreciate that His abilities are unlimited and that in His all-knowing love He allocates blessings precisely suited to meet our needs.

Trust Him for what you need today.

Ria ~ You asked how Ali and Inky were doing.  Ali loves to have her head scratched and rubbed.  Yesterday I noticed both kitties were napping on my bed.  I went in and laid down with them.  Inky got up and went over to Ali and started washing Ali's head.  Oh, Ali loved it.  She raised her head, shut her eyes, as if saying...Oh, that feels sooooo good!  Then Inky tired of what she was doing and JUMPED on Ali.  And then the race around the house began!!!

Today I am going with Ivalou to her dentist and then we will eat out somewhere.  Today is her day to pick where to eat!

CLOUD OF DEPRESSION:  Have you ever went for a couple of days not feeling quite up to snuff?  You know, something just isn't right and not necessarily with your physical health (well, maybe a little)

Things are going wrong, people may get mad at you, you get mad at them.  Things break, you cannot find the car keys.  Your car won't start.  You're late for a meeting.

This is where I have been for almost a week.

After a while it dawns on you....you are under attack.   Something is behind the last couple of days of gloom.

Yesterday, I prayed, "God, please heal from the this depression.  Please help me."

The sky did not clear instantly.  Instead, God spoke to me and said, "Read my word."

I GOTTA BE HONEST HERE...I'm reading in Isaiah and I didn't think that following my regular path of scripture study would provide an answer.  I was looking for a more specific scripture, direction from Him.  I didn't get it.

So, I read Isaiah 30 anyway.  At verse 20 was my answer.

"The Lord has given you trouble and sorrow as your food and drink." ......Boy was that sure true.

Verse 20-21 continues: "But now you will again see the Lord, your teacher and he will guide you.  Whether you turn to the right or to the left, you will hear a voice saying, 'This is the road! Now follow it!' "

Just what I needed to hear.  "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet."

Doin' much better now and clouds are beginning to roll away, "When sorrows like sea billows roll."  It really is well with my soul.

Hi everyone.  It is really chilly here this morning and we have a brisk wind to go with it but by SUnday we should be in the low 80s.  That is the nice thing about this time of year as the chilly spells don't last very long.

Ria, I agree that dieting is no fun but you can do it.  I think most of us find it hard to do it but carrying extra weight is not good for us.  Hope your husband will benefit from his workup at the hospital tomorrow.

Ruth Ann, thanks for taking on the preparation and maintenance of our prayer list and praise report.  This will help us keep current prayer needs and praises in mind during our seasons of prayer.

Happy Anniversary to Mel and  Ruth.  We have been married just a few months longer than you two.  Don't you wonder where the years have gone? Sue, I hope you have the opportunity to celebrate your folk's 60th wedding anniversary.  I did with my folks and it will always remain a very special memory seeing my mother sitting on my dad's knee that morning.

Nards, it sounds like you are working too hard.  However, sure understand demands on our time and it occurs even when you are retired.

Janet, I agree with the comment by Sonja that your decision to be there for your little granddaughter is certainly the thing to do.  Know you will enjoy the dance recital.

Papa John, it seems that the 5 weeks in Florida have really gone quickly.  However, I feel the same way about being in my own home with my own bed, easy chair and routine.  Hope it warms up for the last few days you are there.

Joyce, I don't have any of the Stanley books either but have seen Charles Stanley often on TV.  His ministry is based here in Atlanta.

Jeanne, sure glad you were able to find the replacement dryer.  Years ago we lived in a mobile home and know there is limited space for things like a washer and dryer.  We had a little Hoover portable washer and two babies in cloth diapers so it got quite a workout.  I had a hard time convincing my wife that we needed a dryer when we got into a house but once she had it she didn't want to give it up.

Nita, I have only been in Oregon a couple of times for short visits but remember how green and beautiful it was.

Etta Sue, my wife also has small veins and they roll.  Fortunately they seem to have no trouble finding my veins as I have had lots of blood tests.  I agree with you about taking shots.  I had to give myself shots three times a week for a year when I was battling hepatitis C and while they really didn't hurt still didn't like doing it.

Marilyn, hope the firewall and virus scan keep your computer well protected.  The last thing you want with a new computer is to have problems such as a virus or someone accessing it unknown to you.

Eddie, sorry to read that the last few days have been difficult for you.  Do hope the clouds will clear for you soon.  It is interesting how a particular verse of the Bible seems to pop out at us to address a particular need.

Pat, I particularly liked the little verse in the devotiional this morning.

Marilyn

Yes Eddie I have been there, not lately but I have spent many days, weeks, months in depression and not understanding the I was under attack until the Lord revealed to me what I needed to do.

Pat thank you for the devotion.

Ruth ann I like the new look to Prayers and Praise.

Etta Sue It is really nutz around my house whent he dogs decide the house is a race track. The furniture gets pushed out of place and things get very messed up.

Ria don't worry about your grammar that will come in time. So many languages  put the words in different places in the sentence, no big deal.

Today after I go to Fay's I am going for my last appointment with the chiropractor for now. The gas prices being so hig I can't afford to be going back and forth to Eureka.

Bea is moving to Eureka the first of next month and I will have to drive there twice a week. Until  get that job at Timber Ridge.

Good Morning all!

Happy to report that suddenly the speakers on this laptop computer are working and it is so nice to hear the music once more - just listened to "Blessed Assurance".  Thank you Pat!

We received notice yesterday that we have been exposed to active TB and must have tests - at our own expense.  Irritating, as this is from working at the shelter but we will check everything out today.  Since we were gone for two months, I doubt that we were truely exposed but our name is on the list now.  Yesterday, a young man very distressed came in and needed camping supplies as his had been taken - all I did was call Salvation Army and asked the director - they are so good to give freely to those in trouble.  The youngster came back and wanted to help work around there after we gave him a big salad and french bread for a snack.  Now he was smiling and not tearful as when he first walked in there.  In the end, he asked me to pray for him.  So, I will pass on this little story to you that you may pause for a prayerful moment to think of the homeless.  I know you will and that is why I come to this place.  Carol

Papa John

It is good to see everyone today.  I just dropped in to say hello.  We have three couples coming for lunch today, SeniorNet friends.  We will have pizza by the pool.  No one will go swimming but we will have a good time talking and eating.

Eddie I hope you continue to get help for your depression.  Not many of go through life without similar problems.

I think of when the disciples were troubled by the fact that Jesus was leaving them.  I'm sure it was hard for them to understand.
John 14:1-6

1   Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2   In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3   And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4   And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5   Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6   Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  (KJV)

Prayer: Teach Me to Listen

Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, "Samuel!
Samuel!" And Samuel answered, "Speak, for Your servant hears."
--1 Samuel 3:10

Lord, teach me to listen. The times are noisy and my ears are weary
with the thousand raucous sounds which continuously assault them.
Give me the spirit of the boy Samuel when he said to Thee, "Speak,
for thy servant heareth." Let me hear Thee speaking in my heart.
Let me get used to the sound of Thy voice, that its tones may be
familiar when the sounds of earth die away and the only sound will
be the music of Thy speaking voice. Amen.

Good afternoon!  I am just getting here today.  I had a framing customer this morning, then my sister called and asked me if I wanted to go to Hugoton with her, so I did.  We both got chiropractic adjustments, and I got to see Abby and her parents for a little bit.  That's always a good thing!

Thank you Sonja and Larry for your kind words about my efforts to be a good Grandma.  I think being a grandma is one of the greatests joys and privileges of life, and I enjoy it so much.  Abby had called me and left such a sweet message on the phone--brought tears to my eyes!

I need to do a few things and then get some supper ready.  Darrel has had a busy day today, too, so I will surprise him!  :D

Hi Everyone...

Today is a special day for me.  It's Jack's birthday and so I've been up at the grave today with Geordie.  I planted some daffodils and hyacinths.  Those were Jack's favorite spring flowers.  I really didn't plant them but rather I dug holes for the pots that they are in as I can't have a little garden yet at the grave since I don't have a concrete form where, if I ever get a monument put up, it will go on top of the concrete.  Once you get the concrete form poured (and it's about 3 feet wide by about 18 inches but it goes down 4 1/2 feet to way below the frost line, then you can plan a little garden which I'll do.

I spoke the the fellow who is in charge of the cemetery and he knew Jack so well.  Jack worked with him and his safety programme with his employees for several years when he was still working.

Well, this concrete form is going to cost (Take a deep breath now!!!!)  $692.38  Sooooooo.......

Anyway, Geordie and I had a wonderful time walking through the cemetery looking at all the monuments and chasing squirrels, etc.

I did several other errands as well and now I'm home very tired indeed.

We went to Elizabethtown this morning - left at 8:30  :-\ for Gene's appointment at the VA clinic.  It's a drive of just over 200 miles round trip and we usually scoot over to Lake Placid while we're there to check on Gene's two sisters.

Today we had two bits of good news.  First, Gene is doing fine.  But even better, we thought, was when the veteran who works on the reception desk told us, out of a clear blue sky, "I moved up from Brooklyn 16 years ago and came back to the Lord four years ago."  We spent some really great time sharing testimonies.  ;D

Lord, I'm Coming Home
(Click to hear music)

Words & Music: William J. Kirkpatrick

I will set out and go back to my father
and say to him: Father, I have sinned
against heaven and you.
Luke 15:18

Kirkpatrick wrote this song at a camp meeting in
Rawlinsville, Pennsylvania, with a very specific purpose:
to win the soul of his soloist, a nonbeliever.

After Kirkpatrick prayed for the young man,
these words came to him. He wrote them down
quickly, and after the soloist sang them that
night, he became a Christian.

I've wandered far away from God,
Now I'm coming home;
The paths of sin too long I've trod;
Lord, I'm coming home.

Refrain
Coming home, coming home
Never more to roam;
Open wide Thine arms of love;
Lord I'm coming home.

2
I've wasted many precious years,
Now I'm coming home;
I now repent with bitter tears;
Lord, I'm coming home.

3
I'm tired of sin and straying Lord,
Now I'm coming home;
I'll trust thy love belive thy word;
Lord I'm coming home.

4
My only hope, my only plea,
Now I'm coming home;
That Jesus died, and died for me;
Lord I'm coming home.

5
I need His cleansing blood I know,
Now I'm coming home;
O wash me whiter than the snow;
Lord I'm coming home.

It really surprised us, Pat.  We make no secret of our faith, of course, but at that point there had been nothing except medical subjects discussed.  In fact, he was setting up Gene's next appointment when he just suddenly volunteered that beautiful information.

Jeanne, that is so great!  I had a similar experience today with my chiropractor.  He is a young man, and we have become friends over the past several years.  Today, he asked me if I had ever heard of Smith Wigglesworth, and that led to some very interesting conversation.  Dr. Ty is seeking the baptism in the Holy Spirit, and I found that so exciting.  I want to see if I can find a biography of Smith Wigglesworth for him.

Pat, I hope being out in the fresh air with Geordie was good for both of you!  (((hugs)))
