Morning Devotional"But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked."
(1 John 2:5-6)
There is nothing--absolutely nothing--that is more important than learning to love. In fact, how accurately you perfect the love walk will determine how much of the perfect will of God you accomplish. That's because every other spiritual force derives its action from love. For example, the Bible teaches us that faith works by love. And answered prayer is almost an impossibility when a believer steps outside of love and refuses to forgive or is in strife with his brother.
Without love, your giving will not work. Tongues and prophecy will not work. Faith fails and knowledge is unfruitful. All the truths that you have learned from God's Word work by love. They will profit you nothing unless you live the love of God.
First Corinthians 13:4-8 paints a perfect picture of how love behaves. It's patient and kind. It's not jealous or proud. It doesn't behave rudely or selfishly and it isn't touchy. Love "bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."
Sounds like a tall order, doesn't it? But don't despair. You are a love creature. God has recreated your spirit in the image of love. And He has sent His love Spirit to live in you and teach you how to love as He loves. You can live the love life. Why not begin today?
Scripture Study: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13
Hello everyone,
Just getting in from skating party. We had a ball! I am sooooo tired! Quick prayer request - my best friend came with her kids, and my friend fell and broke her wrist. She works at the hospital that is down the road from the skating rink, so she went and had it xrayed. I guess us old folks ought not try to act young anymore! Pray for her tonight that the pain will be bearable until morning when she can have the orthopedic doctor look at it.
My daughter had a great party with all her friends, so I was happy about that.
Later,
Samantha
Thanks so much, Janet for the devotional. It's almost 2:30 am and I am now going to try and get some sleep. Thanks too, Janet for chatting with me this evening.
Hi Samantha! Great that you had such a good time skating. Sounds like so much fun.
Thanks Marilyn for the links to your photos. I'm going to have a look in the morning.
God Bless everyone

DOES JESUS CARE? (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/doesjesuscare.mid)
(Click to hear music)
Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
Too deeply for mirth or song,
As the burdens press, and the cares distress
And the way grows weary and long?
Refrain
Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.
Does Jesus care when my way is dark
With a nameless dread and fear?
As the daylight fades into deep night shades,
Does He care enough to be near?
Refrain
Does Jesus care when I've tried and failed
To resist some temptation strong;
When for my deep grief there is no relief,
Though my tears flow all the night long?
Refrain
Does Jesus care when I've said "goodbye"
To the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks,
Is it aught to Him? Does He see?
Refrain

Where God Is Taking Us
Bishop Leslie Newbigin, in his South India Diary, tells of the union of churches which took place in South India in 1947. It was the culmination of nearly fifty years of prayer and work on the part of Indians and missionaries. At the second synod a memorable sentence was spoken: "The demand to know where we are going is one which no Christian has a right to make." The bishop writes, "In a very real sense we do not know where we are going, but we are trying to meet day by day the plain requirements of God's will. This means a constant effort to bring every part of church life and practice to the test of conformity with the Gospel."
It is not for the flock of sheep to know the pasture the Shepherd has in mind. It is for them simply to follow Him. If they knew that his plans included a valley of deep shadow, they would panic. Keeping close to the one they have learned to trust is all that is necessary. He will faithfully provide rest, refreshment, correction, and protection as the needs arise. His accompanying presence is guaranteed, all the way--even through the darkest shadows--to the house of the Lord.
Good Morning: Thank you Janet for you devotional this morning I needed that this morning.When a person lives alone one will begin to wonder about anyone loving them, But God is always there. His love is the only love we will never ever doubt.
Same of thing planned today as in every day. work, and home, no variation today.
TTYL
ps. I added some more photos of the demolition.
Janet: Thank you for today's devotions on Love. True love is giving unconditionally and that means without judging others in all matters.

My two girls love to do what the cat above is doing....Kitty TV.
I am going to see Jerry today, stay later than usual and then go to Small Groups at 7 p.m. A couple are going on a cruise next week so it is a tropical theme tonight...something we haven't done before. We are to dress tropical and bring a snack that is tropical. I don't know how tropical 'Coconut Dream Bars' are but they sure made my house smell delicious yesterday. Oh, yes...I am taking some Macadamia Nuts, too.
Bright and sunny right now but predicting isolated showers in the p.m. I have my AC on since I won't leave the house with windows open.

Good Morning Everyone!
Nice to see you all here this morning. It's always a joy to come in and read the devotions and also your thoughts on other's posts.
Etta Sue, hopefully Jerry will be much better today. Give him a hug for me. Bless his heart.
Alma, glad you're doing so much better. I'm so glad to see your lovely photography work on Photography Cafe.
Two years ago, my grandson's class had a special day for Grandparents, TBear and it was such a lovely morning at the school and what superb goodies they had and songs that they sang. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Marilyn, I'm off to see your photos now. Thanks for sharing with us. Lovely to read your devotional as well.
Hi Carol! {{{Hugs}}}
Good morning,
I'm still dealing with the hip and back pain, so did not try to go in to work today. Will need to participate in a conference call from my bedroom, but thank goodness my brain still works - it's just the "hardware" that seems to need a lube job. ::)
Hopefully life will return to normal right away and I can again pick up my duties here at CP.
Love to all.
Ruth Ann
Hi everyone. After coming home from coffee and going to the grocery store I spent about an hour fixing a birthday card. This evening Pat and I have been invited by our new friends to share her birthday at the Red Lobster. Then we are all coming back here for birthday cake and ice cream. We are looking forward to the evening as these are very nice Christian folks that recently moved here from Alabama and he and I have become very close friends very quickly. We share a love of all things computer and we just seem to enjoy being together. I have never had a friend quite like him and I am thankful to God for sending him across my path.
Tbear, I can't image grandparents not wanting to attend a school function for a grandchild if they are able to do so. That is an experience I have been able to have only one time when my granddaughter was in a program at her school and we happened to be in Kansas City, where she lived.
Samantha, sure sorry to hear of your friend breaking her wrist but glad you all still have a nice time for your daughter's birthday at the skating rink.
Marilyn, I think I would be nervous that I might come home and find my place gone. :)
Etta Sue, hope you find Jerry a bit better today. It sounds like you will have a nice gathering this evening (and eat well).
Janet, thanks for the fine devotiional. Love is so important and it is so often without our Christian family that we see such unexpected evidences of that love.
Alma, glad you are feeling better and it is good to see you posting again today.
Hi Pat, Carol and Jim and all who stop by later today.
Ruth Ann, was happy to see that you were able to be up enough to stop by. Take care and don't overdo. I am certainly glad you are not alone.
Hope everyone has a good day.
What a lovely evening you have planned, Larry. I, too, am glad that you have this new friend. It's wonderful to have close friends to discuss things with--especially spiritual things.
Ruth Ann, I'm truly sorry about your necessity for this "lube job". What an interesting comment. I think I need one each day. ;D Hang in there and we'll all continue to pray for you.
Here's a nice one...

He Keeps Me Singing (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/he-keeps-me-singing.mid)
(Click to hear music)
My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
Psalm 63:5
Luther B. Bridges, 1884-1948
There's within my heart a melody
Jesus whispers sweet and low,
Fear not, I am with thee, peace, be still,
In all of life's ebb and flow.
Refrain
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,
Sweetest Name I know,
Fills my every longing,
Keeps me singing as I go.
All my life was wrecked by sin and strife,
Discord filled my heart with pain,
Jesus swept across the broken strings,
Stirred the slumbering chords again.
Refrain
Feasting on the riches of His grace,
Resting 'neath His sheltering wing,
Always looking on His smiling face,
That is why I shout and sing.
Refrain
Though sometimes He leads through waters deep,
Trials fall across the way,
Though sometimes the path seems rough and steep,
See His footprints all the way.
Refrain
Soon He's coming back to welcome me,
Far beyond the starry sky;
I shall wing my flight to worlds unknown,
I shall reign with Him on high.
Refrain

Hello everyone.
Pat, it is good I got the devotionals ready last night, as I think my monitor may be history. :'( I whacked it several times, it would come on for a few seconds, then go blank again. Larry, do you have any ideas about this problem? The monitor is about five years old, I think I am upstairs in Darrel's office, using his computer with the straight keyboard, and making many mistakes. :-\
I won't address everyone because this computer and keyboard cause my neck to hurt and my fingers to make mistakes.
Good excuse, huh? Worst thing is, I can't check my email. :'( :'(

Prayer: Armed With Courage
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like
a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
--James 1:6
When entering the prayer chamber, we must come filled with faith and
armed with courage. Nowhere else in the whole field of religious
thought and activity is courage so necessary as in prayer. The
successful prayer must be one without condition. We must believe
that God is love and that, being love, He cannot harm us but must
ever do us good. Then we must throw ourselves before Him and pray
with boldness for whatever we know our good and His glory require,
and the cost is no object! Whatever He in His love and wisdom would
assess against us, we will accept with delight because it pleased
Him. Prayers like that cannot go unanswered. The character and
reputation of God guarantee their fulfillment.
We should always keep in mind the infinite loving kindness of God.
No one need fear to put his life in His hands. His yoke is easy;
His burden is light.
We Travel an Appointed Way, p. 48
"Increase my faith; increase my courage. Amen."

Thanks for a really nice devotional, Janet. Also to Marilyn & Chris. Chris & Margit, you post the most interesting data!
Someone once wrote that love is God's ultimate expression of His work in our lives. That it is the choice for a person's highest good.
We are having the most beautiful, sunny day today. I was out in the garden with Wendy and Misty(cat) trying to soak up lots of natural vitamin D. Squeek wanted to come out too.....I got her a harness and leash, so we brought her outside. What a lot of laughs. She is very jealous of Misty and wants nothing to do with being friendly. These two cats didn't know much about love when we adopted them. Squeek neglected, Misty abandoned..found us in the yard. Now they are so loving and gentle. Goes to show what gentle kindness will do.
Anyway, am now trying to teach them to spend a little time together without Squeek swatting at Misty. Squeek stretched out in the sun and kept moving her tail and of course, Misty thought it would be nice to play with. Oh Boy. Lots more work will have to be done to teach both about 'play time'.
Enjoyed reading all the posts and will try to come back later in the evening. Marilyn, I am sorry about all the construction going on around you. It must be hard to see everything being destroyed. Keep you in my prayers and trust that the right home will soon be found.
Thought this little joke was sort of cute. Someone must have seen yours truly first thing in the morning......
Keep Smiling
Look at the world around you, and you'll see God's creativity;
Look at the dinner table, and you'll see God's provision;
Look at the mirror, and you'll see God's sense of humor.
::)
Pleasant day all and God Bless.
Liz
I decided to post this in case anyone is interested in where technology is heading.....
Facing the future with a chip in the shoulder
1. Forget mobile phones as the hottest new media technology - for anyone under 30, handsets as we know them will be gone in 20 years. The world's tech-savvy youngsters will be using microchip implants to communicate and transact.
The microchip movement is one of dozens of forward-looking scenarios that some of Australia's major companies got a fix on this week courtesy of Network Ten's innovation and future scoping program.
If the microchip scenario sounds too much like a Star Trek episode, London nuclear physicist, marine biologist and futurist Wolfgang Grulke has news: it's already happening.
Last April, Barcelona's Baja Beach Club began microchipping its VIP nightclub members, to let them into exclusive areas and clock up drinks and food via a chip implant in the arm produced by VeriChip Corporation. Within a decade, Mr Grulke says, microchips will be common. Already two scientists at Britain's Warwick University have chips embedded under their skin that let them send emails just by thinking.
The process is still cumbersome, but by willing a cursor around a keyboard on a computer screen with their mind, they can write and send emails. "It's really the start of interfacing the chip with the nervous system."
???
Sort of frazzled my mind.
God Bless, Liz.
Liz - they're sure not "chips off the old block!" The chips are new, the "blocks" are new, and I am old. Oh well, eternity's longer than they think.
Great devotionals
Hey we had a very very warm day, I like the days to be warm but this one was too much for me. Yesterday Hubby and myself trimmed a Lilac Bush in fact we came very close to taking it out completely.
Then this morning I picked up my Aunt and went to Wal-Mart for a couple of hours.
