Morning Devotional...

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
Ephesians 5:17

After hours of driving we were nearly home when our five-year-old broke the silence, "Dad, does the Bible say we need to share?"

I looked back in the rear view mirror and said "Yes, sweetheart, the Bible says we need to share."

She immediately responded, "But Dad, where does the Bible say
that?"

My wife and I looked at each other a bit amazed. This wee soul
didn't want a watered down assessment--she wanted chapter and verse, which she received.

Might all the Lord's people have such a desire to directly know the mind and heart of God.
--Warren Henderson

Holy Bible, Book divine, precious treasure, thou art mine;
Mine to tell me whence I came, mine to teach me what I am.

THE BIBLE STANDS (http://www.christianphotographers.com/sounds/biblestn.mid)
(Click title for music)

The Bible stands like a rock undaunted
'Mid the raging storms of time;
Its pages burn with the truth eternal,
And they glow with a light sublime.

Refrain
The Bible stands though the hills may tumble,
It will firmly stand when the earth shall crumble;
I will plant my feet on its firm foundation,
For the Bible stands.

The Bible stands like a mountain towering
Far above the works of men;
Its truth by none ever was refuted,
And destroy it they never can.

Refrain

The Bible stands and it will forever,
When the world has passed away;
By inspiration it has been given,
All its precepts I will obey.

Refrain

The Bible stands every test we give it,
For its Author is divine;
By grace alone I expect to live it,
And to prove and to make it mine.

Well it looks like I am the first to post this morning.
Pat this is a great devotional todayWherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
To know the will of God is so important.   I believe God has a purpose and a plan for us each day of our lives.  We need to seek him and be in tune with where God is leading us each day. EverdayI ask the Lord to be led by His Holy Spirit.

I pray that each one of us will be led into the will of God today. Who knows what we can accomplish for God as we keep our hearts in tune with the Lord. Blessings to all of You.

Am I early or is everyone else late?  Just Melody and I so far.

Not much going on today since I accomplished a lot yesterday.  I am sporting a fixed denture partial.  It is working really good.  I did a lot of little things yesterday that gave me a jazzed feeling all evening.  Maybe it is the longer daylight hours due to Indiana changing to DST after 36 years of not changing.  I like it that it is still light at 9 p.m.!!

Tonight Ivalou and I are going out to eat with Tony and Charlene.  We haven't done that for awhile...we went to Florida and missed them.  It is always good to get caught up on news from them.

Hi everyone.  Since this is Friday I had to get to the local senior center to unlock the door and fix the coffee.  My neighbor usually goes with me but called this morning and said he had slept in and would be up later, but didn't make it.

We had a lot of rain last night and today is suppose to be stormy as well.  The weatherman said he is concerned about storms tonight, especially after folks have gone to bed tonight.  Hope I don't blow away as will probably be sleeping at that time.

The Appliance Doctor is here working on the ice maker on the refrigerator.  She put in two new valves and replaced the computer board.  Hope she gets it fixed soon as the labor charges are mounting by the minute.  This is a fairly new refrigerator but the icemaker sure has been a problem.  However, I love crushed ice and want it to work.

Pat, thanks for the devotional today.

I need to get back recording the sermons that our ministers have given this year.  I have three more tapes to record today and a lot of webwork to do.  I did get quite a bit accomplished yesterday.

See everyone tomorrow.

Well, I sit here thinking, "What shall I ssay."  There - I said it.

I haven't looked outside yet, but I think it rained a bit last night.  First rain in about three days here - it's been sunny.  I even went without a sweater yesterday for the first time this season.  Well, I must go and get marbeth up.  She's had a heavy cold the last few days, but is improving, so I'll go see if she can wake up.

Good Morning Thank you Pat for the devotional.

Hey Al we don't see you here as much as we should. You are right it did rain last night and a little bit this morning. The first time the dogs went out the got wet, the second time they came in dry.

I am, sure dreading the high gas prices. Yesterday afternoon at the least expensive station the regular unleaded was $3.27 per gal. I have had to tell my clients that if they want me to drive them anywhere they will have to put the gas in my car as I can barely afford to keep on driving to work.  Gas here has gone up 26 cents in the last 4 days. I know the Canadians pay much more than we do and  other countries even more.

We have a glorious day here today!  :D 8)  I walked for 15 minutes on the treadmill; then couldn't stand to be indoors any longer, so told Kristi I was going to finish my walking outdoors!  So I walked a couple miles outdoors, came back to the gym; took the weights outdoors and did my upper body workout outdoors as well.  It's almost criminal to have to stay in on such a day as this!! ;)

After I got home, I got right to work on some framing that I needed to get done.  That took a solid three hours!  And now I need to eat a bite before Pat picks me up to go to Hugoton.  We will go to the open house at Yardmaster Lawn and Landscape (Diane's store) and this evening we have a scrapbooking Memoranza  there in Hugoton, from 5 to 10.  So busy, busy day.

I hope all of you are well, happy and feeling the joy of the Lord in your lives today.  I'm praying my sweet husband gets SO blessed while on his Walk to Emmaus.

Later!

Marilyn - I get a shock every time I go by a gas station and see the prices.  Thankfully, we get CFN network gas from Renner stations, and the price was, last time, $3.03.  And you can find CFN stations anywhere in the country.  They bill you by the month, and you can do that online.  But, all things considered, no matter what the Canadian and foreign prices, our prices should be as much as $1.50 less than they are.  They're just plain gouging us.  When the Congress was looking into it a few months ago, the prices went down, but now that they aren't looking, they're even higher than before.  There's no excuse for it but greed, as the profits of the oil companies are higher than at any time in history.

Well, AL  and Marilyn, that's why I've been staying home lately!   :-\  Totally unacceptable, in my opinion.   :ticked:

Today is my daughter Joy's birthday.  I notice the Queen of England is throwing a party!  Hopefully Joy will get at least a piece of cake,  ::)

The news today, for those of you who are interested, is that my grandson Bryan is being helped by the VA and his Church, is on medication, and has a job as well as interviews for two others today.     He has traveled a rather rocky road since being in the Army.  He says he only weighs 150 pounds at this time "because of malnutrition" but with a job and medication, to help control the effects of PTSD, that should soon turn around.

I was able to donate blood Wednesday (couldn't find a useable vein two weeks ago) and today joined my friends to sing at the nursing home.  Now I am ready to "fix" something to eat and relax as I watch the trees outside dancing in the wind.

I'll be talkin' atcha later....

Al I have that same card I think you already knew that.

Boy oh Boy the wind is sure blowing, it is so nice to be inside and listening to my wind chimes  out there.

I have been back home since about 1:30 I did two loads of my laundry and 1 of Leroy's laundry. I  made one trip tot he bank today and didn't want to go back out to get the spray starch so I can do the ironing. I will get that tomorrow while I am already out on the way home.

I better believe that I am staying home too not using up MY gas either.

Thanks for the devotional, Pat.  I have been busy and not spending much time on the computer, so had a lot of reading to catch up...

We continue to have rain and chilly weather....between sun breaks. Never quite certain if it is a cold or hot day.  Mostly do a lot of shivering!

Have been doing lots of ironing and housework the past while.  Boring stuff!  Not doing anything very exciting at all.  Did go to Victoria one day and did some much needed shopping.  Came home all tuckered out and lots lighter in my wallet :(

Saw the eye specialist again and have to have lots more tests before he sends me to see the specialist who does the catarract surgery.  Still thinks I have glaucoma and need more tests....wish he would do something constructive!  Like send me to the other doctor!  Vison is getting much worse now and he said new lenses would not help enough to make the investment worthwhile.  Not certain I believe him.  Would love another opinion, but lucky to even get one doctor, let alone two.  The Medical System in BC is certainly at an all time low.

Thank goodness for the cats...they keep me laughing and make life fun.  Nothing like a hug from a pet to make the day.

Here is a very small smile.  Didn't have much time to find a bigger one.....

Cross-eyes Rotweiler

A man takes his Rottweiler to the vet. "My dog's cross eyed. Is there anything you can do for him?"

"Well," says the vet, "let's have a look at him" So he picks the dog up and examines his eyes, then checks his teeth.

Finally, he says "I'm going to have to put him down."

"What? Because he's cross-eyed?"

"No, because he's really heavy"

                   :idiot:   ;)

Now that was logical!

Pleasant Evening and God Bless.

Liz

Hello again!  It is almost 11:00 here, and I just got back home.  We had a fun evening working on our scrapbooks.  I got several more pages of Abby's album done.  And I got to see her a little while, and then later, Diane came by and visited for a while.  Nice!  :)

I am hurting all over!  I think I overdid it in the exercise department this morning, so I have taken some Ibuprofen and am heading to bed.

Sweet dreams, everyone!  Or.......should I say good morning?!?!?!

Hi everyone from a rainy Atlanta.  We had some severe storms go through here last evening including a lightning strike somewhere close to our house but fotunately not on our house.  Pat had just drifted off and it frightened her so that she must have jumped three inches off the bed.  This morning at coffee we had to stay and extra 15 minutes or so as it was raining hard and none of us had brought in an umbrella as it wasn't raining when we arrived.  It is not now raining and is suppose to clear off this afternoon.

I have a nice quiet day planned with nothing on the calendar.  I think I finally got on top of most of the church website work that was pressing.  Now I will be working on doing some appearance revisions.  I did finish recording the sermon tapes that I have here at the house.  I think the church will shortly purchase of recorder that will save the files digitally and I won't have to deal with the tapes anymore.  They could give them to me on a memory stick and that would be great.

I guess I shouldn't complain about the gas price but having two cars that I have to purchase gas for really adds up fast.  It was $2.86 cents a couple of days ago and is now even higher.  I understand the EPA requirement to have Ethonal mixed with the gas is causing some of the shortages that are appearing various places and also increasing the price.  It appears are government is working against us as consumers.

Janet, hope you will be able to take a nap today and get rested up a bit.  I very seldom have any problem sleeping and am so thankful for that blessing.  I am sure Darrel must be having a very memorable experience and that you are looking forward to your weekend.

Liz, sorry to hear about the possible glacoma and that is certainly nothing to fool around with.  My dad had that and had to use several eye drops to keep the pressure under control all the remainder of his life.  I have my eyes checked every year to be sure I am not developing it.

Marilyn, it seems only fair that your clients pay for the gas when you take them for errands.

Al, sure hope that Marbeth is feeling better from her cold today.  I suppose the cold and damp weather isn't very helpful.

Pat, a good idea to extend the devotional over two days.  Perhaps this is something you could institute for the weekends just to provide some relief from the constant daily updating.

A special hi to all that I have not addressed individually but I assure you I have read your messages.  Guess I had better move on to some other tasks.

Good afternoon everyone.  We have had rain here the last few days but today we have sunshine and 77 degrees.

Our car seems to stay mostly in the guarage except Sundays so I'm saving a lot on gasoline since we just aren't using much these days.  I am planning to get out for a few minutes  this afternoon to get the car washed and to go by the office supply for some paper.

I have stayed home & finally finished a quilt top but must find someone with a big arm machine to finish it -

Al:  Sorry to hear that Marbeth has had such a bad cold and it is good that she is getting better - nothing weakens a person more than a heavy cold.

Jane:  It is good to hear that Brian is getting the right kind of help and do hope that this continues to improve.

Don is feeling rather weary today so he wants to have a "do nothing" day.

Carol

Thanks for noticing, Carol.  I have posted in here several times lately and you are the first to comment.  I was wondering if I had suddenly become invisible.   :-\

I had a lovely, long conversation with my daughter Joy last night.  It is great to be able to visit at length over the telephone and not have to worry about the bill!  She has Vonage with a Sacramento number so I can call her using my prepaid phone card and she will return my call and there's no charge for her (other than the monthly charge).  She's in Mexico so you can imagine what the phone bill would be without Vonage!   ::)  That's also good for her friends and Bryan to be able to call her at a local number.

I joined with my neighbors in a garage sale this morning.  First time I've done anything like that and I sold stuff I hadn't even intended to sell!  That would be a piece of driftwood in my yard; some chalk seagulls and other stuff ... just stuff!  I have a really big and heavy piece of driftwood that one man really wanted but his wife was shaking her head and she finally won or I'd have made even more money!   :)  Anyway, now that I've gotten my feet wet, so to speak, I may just do this again... and again... and again...  :D

I've got all sorts of "stuff" that I need to get rid of but just never had any idea someone would want it!  And even pay money for it!  There's coming the day when someone else will be sorting through my "stuff" and wondering what to do with it.  I'm trying to pare it down so they won't have too much of a job!  I've done this sort of thing at my mother's house after she died, then again after my sister dumped a bunch of STUFF from our uncle's estate on me, and it looks like, in the near future I'll be doing it all again in California so .... this is good practice, I guess.  My daughter thanked me last night for doing this downsizing before it becomes her job after I'm gone.   :-\

Jane I have been downsizing too, I have more to do I am trying to get rid of a lot of stuff that means nothing to me or is just clutter to me. Are you gonna move to California? What are you be going to do again in California.
I don't know if I have the patience to have a garage or a yard sale. Or even know  how to have one. I usually just give a bunch of stuff to charity or throw it away. Lately I have taken it all to the Rescue Mission Thrift store and to TailWaggers thrift store.

That's the way I feel too, Marilyn.  I have never thought of having a garage or yard sale because I don't know how to, for one thing.   :-\  And another thing I just didn't have the patience.  I always figure if I don't want it, why would anyone else want it?  My neighbors were having one and asked me if I wanted to "play" too.  She even said I could put stuff out with theirs and they'd sell it for me if I didn't want to.  Well, I had no idea how to price anything so whenever people would ask me "how much?"  I'd name a price and watch their expression to see how that was flying ... then I'd say "Make me an offer."  I'm sure they thought they were getting a great bargain at times but I don't care ... I just wanted to get rid of it!   ;D

What am I going to be doing in California?  My "ex" has signed himself into the Veterans Home in Yountville and, if he decides to make that his final residence, we will have to sell our place in Sacramento.  Since I am co-owner of the place I'll have to be there to clear it out and help get it sold.  Whenever that is remains to be seen.  First, he has to complete his sixty day trial at the VA Home and decide if that's what he wants for the rest of his life.  At the moment he is looking at this sixty day period as a vacation.  I told him he should do that, and enjoy all the amenities there: golf course, entertainment; swimming pool; medical; ambiance, etc and if he finds he misses his life in Sacramento (church and friends and neighbors) more than he enjoys Yountville then that will be his answer.  He has multiple problems and needs to be where he can have help, but he is also so independent that I don't know if he will be happy there for any length of time.  He is talking about this being the "final season" of his life and he needs a place to spend his "final days" ... he's only 76!   ::)  It makes me sad, but God knows and He sees the end from the beginning.  I know He will give direction and peace of mind.

If you think of it you might remember Tom in prayer ... and me as well.  Thanks.

I am not taking the time to read all the posts for today, I have sewing to do and to bed early.

This has been a big day.  Today we were out of the house at 6:00 am to get Melaura to Drill Competition. The teams were all winners, with the amount of work and nerves that went into the competition.  I was told that North Bay was "above average" in their routine.  Unfortunately I gat some misinformation, and missed seing their squad compete.  However I did see the "Drill With Arms" compete.  They were spectacular.  Only one very minor mistake but the rest was amazing. Rumour has it that North Bay won!!!  Also it looks like Melaura will be going to Leadership Training with the cadets this summer.  Ske is talking about her future, and I am hearing some wise decisions being made.

I will read all the missed posts tomorrow.

We are very tired   I have another BIG day tomorrow.  We are on the praise team then to the awards ceremony.  After tomorrow our weekends will slow down. II was just informed that if the drill team won our weekends won't slow down..........

:'( :'( I dropped my mouse and lost my post!

I am really tired and hurting tonight, but got 20 pages of Abby's 12 X 12 album done, and that's a lot!  Pat made good progress on hers, too.

Jane, forgive me for not commenting sooner about Bryan.  I am so happy he is receiving the help he needs, and pray he will regain robust health, learn what  God wants him to do, find a job he enjoys, and find peace in the midst of all of it.  I agree with you that 76 is NOT old, but as a friend used to say, "It isn't how old you are, but how you are old."  Glad your first venture into the world of garage sales was a pleasant one.

Larry, I'm sure your church appreciates the many hours of hard work you do on the website!  That sounds like a daunting job to me.

When I filled up last, gas here was $2.89.9 per gallon.  It may be over the $2.90 mark now.

It seems so strange being here without Darrel.  I miss that guy!  :)

I'm planning to eat a bite, take some pain pills and try to get some sleep....and that right soon!!

Don't usually post twice a day but will make an exception today.  Jane, I did see your encouraging words concerning Bryan but just forgot to say anything this morning, as I fear I often forget to comment on things I think of at the time.  I was interested in your comments about Vonage as I have been using it since the end of last month.  In fact, today I got the bill for next month and it was just over $27.  We were having some trouble with it but called yesterday and they said they had their engineers working on the problem and it was suppose to be fixed.  It did seem to be better today and yesterday and I also did an adjustment in bandwidth that may have helped.  At least we didn't have any trouble with it today and it will cut our phone bill in half.  Glad you had success in selling the items.  We have had several garage sales and I hope we don't ever have anymore as they are a lot of work.

JudyB, know you are excited about your daughter's competition as it sounds like they did very well with it.

Time to say goodnight.
