Fullness of the Holy Spirit = Fullness of the Word of God

PLEASE...[/b]

SIGN OUR GUEST BOOK

Morning Devotional.

Acts 4:31.  "And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the Word of God with boldness."

The disciples had been baptized into the fullness of the Holy Spirit.  The immediate and most obvious reult was boldness in speaking the Word of God.  This is ever true of those in whom God's Holy Spirit is active.  The converse is also true - those who have no great interest in God's Holy Word are definitely not filled with the Holy Ghost.  Do you love His Word (the Bible)?  It's an evidence of the Spirit's indwelling.  Do you love to share that Word with others?  More evidence.  Oh that we might be found as lovers of His Word!

If you can truly say these things to Him, then you may also freely say, "My God, my God, for me He rose in triumph!  And you can go on to say, My God, my God, for me He's glorified" and, finally, "my God, my God, for me He's coming again!"  May these all be true of you.

Wonderful Words of Life
(Click to hear music)

"You shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life." Philippians 2:15-16

Words & Music: Philip P. Bliss.

I carried that song through two seasons of evangelistic work, never thinking it possessed much merit, or that it had the element of special usefulness, particularly for solo purposes. It occurred to me to try it one day during the campaign in New Haen, [Connecticut, 1878,] and, with the help of Mrs. Stebbins, we sang it as a duet. To our surprise the song was received with the greatest enthusiasm and from that time on to the close of the meetings was the favorite of all the hymns used. As an illustration of the hold it got upon the people all about that section of the country, I received a letter from the Secretary of the Connecticut State Sunday School Association offering me what seemed an absurdly large sum of money, if I would, with Mrs. Stebbins, come to the State Convention and sing that one song.

Sing them over again to me, wonderful words of life,
Let me more of their beauty see, wonderful words of life;
Words of life and beauty teach me faith and duty.

Refrain

Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life,
Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of life.

Christ, the blessèd One, gives to all wonderful words of life;
Sinner, list to the loving call, wonderful words of life;
All so freely given, wooing us to heaven.

Refrain

Sweetly echo the Gospel call, wonderful words of life;
Offer pardon and peace to all, wonderful words of life;
Jesus, only Savior, sanctify us forever.

Refrain

Thanks so much for the devotional, Al.  It blessed my heart tonight.  I'm going to try to go to bed now and see if I can get a full night's sleep.  I'm singing the words of that lovely hymn.  What wonderful words of life!

Soni & Skief:   Congratulations to both of you for your winning photos.

We are under High Wind Watch and Winter Warning but it is calm right now.  Just when we did have a nice day yesterday.

Good Morning from sunny Guelph!  (Now if only the snow would all melt.)

We had a terrible weather-wise weekend.  And I saw on the TV last night on the Buffalo stations that most of the schools around that city and surrounding areas are all closed today but this morning here it's quiet--just lots of snow.

How are all of you?

I'm having company drop in later so I'll not be here then but when they leave, I'll be able to check in with you.

Hi Carol!  How's Colorado weather?

The Sword

"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword" (Matthew 10:34).

The Christian life is a life of war, and the Christian soldier must be a skilled swordsman if he is to survive and win. In our text, Jesus taught that a peaceful life would not be the Christian's lot, but a life of swordsmanship instead.

The first "sword" mentioned in the Old Testament was not a sword of metal, but a "flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life" (Genesis 3:24). Likewise, the final sword mentioned in the New Testament is "the sword of Him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of His mouth" (Revelation 19:21). This is the fiery sword with which the coming "man of sin"
(II Thessalonians 2:3) will be defeated "whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming" (v.8). "He shall smite the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips shall He slay the wicked" (Isaiah 11:4).

The mighty "word of the Lord" by which "were the heavens made" (Psalm 33:6) is still a flaming sword, turning every way, for "out of His mouth went a sharp twoedged sword" (Revelation 1:16) as John saw Him in His present glory.

Furthermore, we can wield this same sword by His Spirit, for "the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword . . . a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12).

The Christian armor, as outlined in Ephesians 6:13-17, is all defensive armor with the one exception of the prayerful use of "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" (v.17). In this wonderful text, the spoken "word of God" is in view-the sword applied, on either edge, turning every way, probing exactly when and where needed in each encounter of every battle of the Christian warfare. HMM

Good morning from sunny and mild Kansas.  Looks as if we will have a lovely day here today.  I'm glad we are not dealing with snow!  Our fruit trees are blooming, so I hope we do not get another killing frost.

I'm not feeling very chatty today, just wanted to come in and say hello.  I feel GREAT, just don't have anything much to talk about!

Congratulations to Mike and Sonja for their winning photography.  You're both so GOOD!  (applause.)   ;D

Hi everyone.  Janet, I sort of feel the same way today.  Am just finishing up a bite of lunch and need to rest awhile this afternoon.  I got up and went to the "Y" and walked for 20 minutes slowly on the treadmill but that has left me exhausted.  When I got home from coffee I had to uninstall and reinstall my TV Card in my computer.  When we put in the additonal drive can card yesterday to allow the hard drive it seems to conflict with the TV Card.  The audio is fine but the pictures are like a series of still photos so there is a conflict.  After I rest I am going to switch a couple of the cards on the motherboard and see if that solves the problem.

Pat, good see that the snow has stopped up your way and I hope it melts off quickly.  You certainly don't need to be doing anyting with it or fall because it is slick.  Hope you are able to stay in until things are clear.

Congratulations to our photographers for their prize photos.  Way to go!!

Carol, hope that your day stays nice there in Denver.

Marilyn, I like your new picture.

Al, thanks for that fine devotional and the hymn.

Well Ladies ... last week as you remember was my 27th anniversary on Friday & it was a wonderful night out.

My husband arrived home early so we took off &  over the state line 2 first off get some GAS 4 his car & then made our way to the restaurant where we had our reservations for ~ 5:45 but since we were there 45 minutes early ... we got right in & it was a beaufiful & very clean place to eat.

Well, the waitress - APRIL was her name came to the table & helped me off with my coat ( wow what restaurant does that ) known that I know of. So, she then asked us if we were celerbrating anything special & I said * Our Anniversary * !! So I said that I needed to use the ladies room before we started so I found the bathroom ladies to be very clean with get this HAND TOWELS in a basket on the counter in the bathroom & potpourri jars in the corners & WOW it smelt so good in there too.

I came back out to find a tall glass of LEMON WATER waiting for me. So, she then came back to the table with a WINE LIST which we passed on since we do not drink at all & so we just had WATER all night !!  She handed my husband the MENU ladies & it was a http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/MBEAR/Special%20Pictures/6830996.jpg and the menu ladies was engraved on both sides of the cleaver & so 1 side had the appetizers & the other was the menu for our main meal & it was a lot of fun to read over both sides of that menu for sure !!

- Well we both talked about what we wanted to here is what we had finally picked out.

( I HAD )

New England Style Clam Chouder - Which with there soup it made mine look like a bowl of the cheap chouder that you get in a can from the store. It was nice & thick & loaded with clams !!

Salad Bar - Which with this ladies you could make a meal out of just the salad bar. I saw all sort of good stuff on the bar and it even had ... anchovies & caviar on the salad bar which I stayed away from !!

Main Dish - I had something called filet minion - terikaya style and it was meduim well & it was really good too. Nice & tender and just the way I like it too.

( MY HUSBAND HAD )

Salad Bar

Main Dish - Baked Chicken w/ crushed pecans over the top with a baked potatoe on the side. With a sweet mustard sauce to dip the chicken into.

Then ladies for dessert we had something that this place is known for ... mud pie and they brought it out & wished us a  & also refilled our water glasses because we were going to be needing it for sure ! And, if you were to ask if it was GOOD well let's just say that I hated to see what my BLOOD SUGAR READING would be like !!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/MBEAR/Special%20Pictures/mudpie.jpg

Well ... after we ate we went to WAL - MART & while there I picked out something nice which is below. It's not one that I had posted but it was one that we both agreed on & so I do hope to find something special to put inside like a picture of us !!

After WAL - MART we headed over to a BOOK STORE and there I got the book about ideas to make your home more cozy & so it was good to get too.

By time we had gotten home it was 10 pm & I was tried out so we watched a little bit of TV & then shared in a hug & kiss then said a special prayer & thank the Lord above for making this a special year for us & thank him for alowing us to be together once again !!

So ... there you have my fun night out. The weekend was so full we had lots of running to do & we are hoping for good weather this week so that he can come home & do some more work on the yard.

Well ... better go and get things done before taking my son to work so take care & I will return again soon !!

Prayer: Long Before the Lord

But whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with Him, he would
take the veil off until he came out; and he would come out and speak
to the children of Israel whatever he had been commanded.
--Exodus 34:34

It is written of Moses that he "went in before the Lord to speak with
him...and he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel." This
is the Biblical norm from which we depart to our own undoing and to
the everlasting injury of the souls of men. No man has any moral
right to go before the people who has not first been long before the
Lord. No man has any right to speak to men about God who has not
first spoken to God about men. And the prophet of God should spend
more time in the secret place praying than he spends in the public
place preaching....

One swallow does not make a spring nor one hot day a summer; nor will
a few minutes of frantic praying before service bring out the tender
buds or make the flowers to appear on the earth. The field must be
soaked in sunshine over a long period before it will give forth its
treasures. The Christian's heart must be soaked in prayer before the
true spiritual fruits begin to grow.  The Root of the Righteous,
121-122.

"Lord, it seems like much of what we've been emphasizing all year
requires that we slow down from our frantic pace. It takes great
spiritual discipline to 'spend more time in the secret place praying
than we spend in the public place preaching.' Quiet my heart today,
slow me down I pray. Amen."

  Happy Anniversay to Karen (T.Bear)

Pat:  We keep getting warnings on the weather.  Being close to the mountains, we do get high winds and I don't know what else is expected.  Typical and really, any time of the year.

Larry:  We surely won't be getting the 10 in. of snow that is predicted in the mountains.

Janet:  This is especially for you:

Tbear, I read about your special night.  That sounds like a very fine restruarant and that you both had a great meal.  I could have skipped the main course and just gone directly to the mud pie dessert.

I had to uninstall the hard drive and special card we put in yesterday as it apparently either conflicted with my TV card so the power source is inadequate.  The TV and FM are working great now.  At least we tried.

This was spring cleaning day at our house as the housekeeper was here and helped Pat get down all the curtains, which were laundered, and she then washed the windows and put the curtains and draperies back up.  She did some other special cleaning as well.  She plans to come back later this week to do the regular biweekly housecleaning.  Now the yard people are here mowing the yard again.  They certainly keep it looking nice.

Hope everyone is having a good day and Carol hope you all miss that stormy weather.  It is really beautiful here today up to about 75 degrees and sunny.

Janet

Thanks, Carol!  I LOVE it!   ;D

Another thought:  "The next time it begins to rain... lie down on your belly, nestle your chin into the grass, and get a frog's-eye view of how raindrops fall... The sight of hundreds of blades of grass bowing down and popping back up like piano keys strikes me as one of the merriest sights in the world." -- Malcolm Margolin

Subject: Ground Crews w/ a sense of humor

After every flight, Qantas pilots fill out a form,  called a "gripe sheet",  which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft.  The  mechanics correct the problems, document their repairs on the form,   and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight.
Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of  humor.

Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by Qantas'  pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded by maintenance  engineers. (marked with an S)  By the way, Qantas is the only major airline that has never had an  accident.... Enjoy!

Janet, you made me laugh.  That is too funny!!!!!!!

I just posted a good report for Jerry in Prayer Requests

Janet ~ I don't know why you have that 'find bar'.  I use Firefox all the time and I have never seen such.  Have you checked at the top under View to see what is ticked?  I only have Navigation Toolbar and Status Bar ticked.

Jane ~ Sorry I missed telling you Happy Birthday on your birthday so Happy Birthday 364 days ahead!!!

I am in kind of a rush.  I looked at the calender and saw that a high school classmate has a birthday today so we are going out for her birthday.  And I have Lynn to call yet.  So gotta go!

I wish everyone a Happy Anniversary and Happy Birthday

That was quite the snow storm we had even my hubby had to get the snow blower out as we were expecting company and one of the guests was my soon to be 86 yr. young aunt who will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow.

The sun has been busy doing a good job at getting all of the snow and ice melted which is a good thing.   Now I must get dinner ready.

Have a great evening

GRRR.........lost my post again because of that darn find bar thingy.  >:(  I hate that thing!  And, Etta Sue, the only thing checked in view is Status bar.  So I do not know what is causing it.  I used three contractions in the post I just lost, the first two apostrophes caused the bar to pop up and freeze me from typing, and the third lost my post.

Larry gave me something to try, but it didn't  work, thanks, though, Larry.  (Did it again on that last sentence.)

GOD IS SO GOOD!  ALL THE TIME!! Beth walked from her house to mine this afternoon, using her walker.  She hasn't done that for many, many months now!  So she is getting stronger and regaining some of her balance, too.  ;D

They are predicting VERY strong winds for us tomorrow, my least favorite kind of weather.  :P :(  I knew I should have burned the trash today!  (Yes, we can still do that here, at least for now.)

I'm going to post this before I lose it again.  Another hang up on the first word of last sentence........

Janet, I have an idea.  How about taking a picture of your screen with that find bar showing and posting it here or e-mail it to Etta Sue and I.  Sometimes seeing something might spur a thought.  I also got a good laugh from those airline reports, especially those at the end.

Etta Sue, I read your report on SN a little while ago and that is certainly encouraging news concerning Jerry.  Know you must be feeling a great sense of relief to see him sitting up in a chair.  If he can swallow perhaps he will soon be able to have nourishment by mouth.

Judy McKenna

CP failed to print my post. I got "bunped" when Larry was posting., so I'll try again. :D

Janet:  Encouraging that Beth could walk from her home to yours with the walker.  How far would that be?

Congratulations to Soni and Skief on their photography.  Such talent you guys have!

Etta Sue:  Wonderful news about Jerry!  I am so happy for him!

Marilyn:  Did you get to Forrest's birthday party?  How old is he now?

TBEAR:  Congratulations on your 27th Anniv.  Your locket is so pretty., and the restaurant sounded lovely.  Isn't it "a treat" to visit nice clean restrooms!  If a restaurant has greasy windows, that is enough to tell me "not to eat there".  Likely the food is greasy too!

And, although it would be difficult to do, you might try getting rid of all contractions right now so that the toolbar won't come up - what a pain, Janet!

I worked until 8 pm tonight and must be into the office at 5 am tomorrow, so this will be short. I think my work day tomorrow will stop pretty early, also - I need to spend some time with my son - his depression is back in full force right now.
