Morning Devotional

Wonderful Omnipotence

Daniel 4:35.  "All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth.  No one can say to Him, 'What have You done?'"  and Eph. 1:11. "In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him Who works all things according to the counsel of His will."

The will of God is all it takes to get things done!  If He wills it, then it's going to happen!  According to the prophet Daniel, no one can even argue with Him or question Him.  And according to Paul, everything that happens does so only in accord with the counsel of His will.  And that's a good thing - the inheritance we have in Christ is absolutely sure for us because He is invincible (see also Romans 8:31-39)

Hang in there!  Nothing can stop you, because nothing can stop Him!

How Great Thou Art
(Click to hear music)

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Chorus:
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Chorus

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

Chorus

Ruth Ann Bice

Thank you for the devotional, Al.

I took a long Sunday afternoon nap, so now can't get back to sleep.

God was good - I was able to go to church. My shoulders and neck are suffering from not using the left leg even to balance. So, I'm finding my strength level has limits. My son gave me a heated massager this evenig and I used it on my shoulders. It certainly helped, but still can't get them to relax enough to let me rest.

God is also good as far as work is concerned. I had a long meeting with someone in high authority on Friday. Hopefully good things will come from that meeting.

God is also good to give us friends. These people seem as close as family, and y'all are part of this family.

I hope you each, my sisters and brothers, have a wonderful day today.

Oh, by the way, my grandbaby is 2 years old today - that's hard to believe! Time really passes quickly, doesn't it.

Hi everyone.  Here it is the 1st of August already and our schools start a week from today.  Our school system has about 140,000 students and I saw where they had over 1200 new teachers to the system this year.  It is one of the biggest employers in the State of Georgia.  The traffic becomes much heavier starting Monday.  It has been nice this summer.

Ruth Ann, it is nice to see you posting.  Just sorry you are having more aches and pains.  It does seem that one thing leads to another.

Al, that was a fine devotional this morning.  God is certainly in control.

Not much on my schedule today.  We will probably go to the grocery and stock up as have received my retirement check for the month.  I have paid the bills for the month and see that we can live another month with our debts paid.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Papa John

Al, thanks for the thoughts this morning.  I especially like the song  HOW GREAT THOU ART

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Ruth Ann, you are absolutely right.  Time goes by so fast.  Our new little great-granddaughter is now already over a year old and is walking all over the house.

Larry it is good to see you this morning.  We always are glad to see the first of the month come again when Social Security comes in actually on the 3rd of the month.  Ours goes directly to the bank so I don't have to fool with checks.  It IS good to be able to pay the bills every month and have a little to live on for another month.

Marilyn that amount would be good for rent in our area.  I hope everything works out for you.

God is good:    Ps 73:1  Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.  (NIV)

I agree with you, Papa John - I'm always waiting somewhat anxiously for the 3rd to get here - not that I want to rush the time, since it rushes by anyway - but that's when SS goes into our credit union (automatically), and then I can do the monthly accounting and pay the bills.

Had a funny happening yesterday.  In the morning service we always make the announcements for the week, just like other churches.  Well, it turns out the pastor and 2 or 3 others are going to be at the youth camp all week, so they left yesterday afternoon - but they forgot that that means that the pastor won't be leading the "forum" that we have Sunday evening (a time of asking questions about the sermon, dicussing (almost) anything biblical, etc.  And nothing was said about cancelling that, nor were any of us on the staff team informed that someone would need to run that meeting.  It's at 6PM.  About 5:30, the wife of one of the other staff team members called me to ask if I'd heard anything, since pastor would be gone.  So I had to go, open up for those who came, and "wing it."  We did have a few who came, and thanks to our Lord, it went well.  But nobody knew ahead of time that nobody had been told!  Thank our Lord that He knew all about it!

Etta Sue

That is twice now that when I click on the clickable for the NEM, I go to that page as a Guest.  When I click to Log In, it takes me back to the previous day.  So I have to got to New Every Morning and click on todays NEM and all is well.  Does anyone else have that problem?

Marilyn, I thought lot rent in a Mobile Home Park was outrageous at $200 a month and that included water, sewage and trash pick up.  The last house I rented was only $60 for a two-bedroom, living room, kitchen, bath, full basement and detached garage.  When I bought my first mobile home, I didn't know if we would make it at $65 a month.  But then this was back in early '60's!!!

Larry ~ So glad you got to feeling much better during the day.

Janet ~ Sounds like a wonderful wedding full of memories for all involved.

Papa John ~ Sounds like you had a big day with church and the reunion.  Rest today...you deserve it.

Ruth Ann ~ So happy you were able to attend church yesterday.

Kathy ~ We are all busy...some comes in every day to say Hi but other's less often.  Just glad you can post once in a while and say Hi.

Samantha ~ I am with you.  That sounds very expensive to rent somewhere but California is a high rent district!

JudyB ~ Swimming and coming out as a popsicle?  I remember when I was young, I could have done that.  I loved to swim.

Al ~ Your church should be thankful to have someone to step in when needed.  I am sure you did fine with your discussions...you do here on CP!

A SrNetter from Ohio is in Indiana and wants me to meet her for lunch in Greenfield.  She is to call me back...hope I have time to change clothes and drive there.

Other than that...nothing pressing for today.

Janet

Etta Sue, when I read your question about logging in, I thought No............but then, when I got to the bottom of the page---no reply button!  So I scrolled back up, and sure enough!  I was a guest, too.  So I did as you did, went to the NEM list page, clicked on today, and now I am Janet again.  Hmmmm............hope we don't have to do that every time.

My arm kept me awake hurting last night again.  But I got up and took Beth to her therapy, then I went and worked out, did all cardio-vascular again today.  I hope this arm clears up soon, but doubt it will as long as I am lifting too much with it, and the wheelchair isn't losing any weight.  :(

I will only be at home today and Friday of this week, am judging at three fairs and taking Beth back to Amarillo the other days.  So it's a busy week for me.

Yes, California must be right up there with Alaska as far as rental prices go.  Another advantage of living "out in the sticks!"  ;)

Ruth Ann, I hope you get the results you need from the meeting with the "Big Kahuna."  And hugs to you, dear one!

We are going in to pick up a dining table we loaned to our pastor.  They got them a new one, so don't need it any more.  I will probably check in later.

Good Morning y-all; Not much new here today. I am going to turn in my application for the  place today. Yes it is high but there is nothing I can do about that.
Before I moved here I was paying 450 for a two bedroom house on 1/3 acre, the last place I lived there  I was paying 395. for a very large 1 bedroom on 2 1/2 acres. But I had to have my own water hauled in there at 40 for 2000 gallons.

I am doing all the usual stuff working etc.

Good Morning.

Rents here are rather high also.  A tiny bachelor apt (one big room with a kitchen and bathroom separate) can rent for as much as $700 per month.  One bedroom apts rent for the range of $600-1000 per month and the two and three bedrooms go for more than that.  Whole houses (not ones where they are split between upper level renting or basement renting) start renting at $1200 per month if you are lucky.  Those rates are in CDN dollars.

Janet, try to relax on your two days at home.
Will you have any pictures of that wedding to show us?

EttaSue, I haven't had that problem that I know of anyway.........

Papa John, has time gone so quickly?  LIttle Elsie is a year old aready?  I think an updated picture would be nice.... ;D

Larry, school starts next week?  The darlings don't go back until the Tues after Labour Day here.

Al, thank you for the devotional and hymn today.  Both have touched me.

Welcome back Judy McKenna!

Kathy, according to the television the other day, our temperatures here this summer have been record highs.  We have had 30 days so far this year of over 30 degree celcius (85 or so F) and are about to get more.  We have had cooler temps this past week and even some boughts of much needed rain.

Judy B, I tried planting in pots this year a couple of tomato plants.  The beefsteak ones are not big at all, so perhaps the pot is not big enough, but the cherry ones are quite a nice size and plentiful too.  Next year hopefully a bit of a garden will be cultivated in my teeny tiny back yard.

Joyce, I had seen that before in a different version and printed it out for reference purposes.  It is nice to see it again.

I went for my interview this morning, and assume that the interviewer must have meant to see me tomorrow morning at 9 when he booked the appointment.  I really didn't expect to see anyone at the office today because it is a holiday here, but went on the offchance that he was there.  So I will be making the trek again tomorrow morniing.  I pray that the job is actually offered to me.

Now, must get busy and get a few things taken care of.  Enjoy your day everyone.

Sonifo

Ruth Ann~That was nice that you were able to go to church and get a massage! Hope you heal quickly.

1400 teachers? 140,000 students? Wow, Larry, Didn't realize how populated your state or is it your city?

Hi, Papa John!

Thanks Al for the devotion.

Etta Sue, I don't have that problem. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Hope your arm feels better, Janet. I can't play folf anymore because I tend to throw my shoulder out. ugh..hurts.

Wow, be thankful you don't live here, Marilyn. The prices of houses and apartments are outrageous. Crazy if you ask me. Money hungry renters. oh..ok..I'll be quite now.
I have never heard of someone getting their water hauled in. Strange. hehehe. Hope you find a decent place.

Joyce, thanks for that link..I copied and pasted it for future use.

Sue
, I also hope you get the job.  Good luck!

I have a ton of things to do today. Textureing, painting, working on pictures and playing with kids. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

I enjoyed this so thought I would share:

IMPORTANT THINGS MY KIDS HAVE TAUGHT ME

It's more fun to color outside the lines.

If you're going draw on the wall, do it behind the couch.

Ask why until you understand.

Hang on tight.

It doesn't matter who started it.

Ask for sprinkles.

If the horse you're drawing looks more like a dog, make it a dog.

Sometimes you have to take the test before you've finished studying.

If you want a kitten, start out asking for a horse.

Picking your nose when no one else is looking is still picking your nose.

Just keep banging until someone opens the door.

There is no good reason why clothes have to match.

Even Popeye didn't eat his spinach until he absolutely had to.

If your dog doesn't like someone, you probably shouldn't either.

Toads aren't ugly; they're just toads.

Don't pop someone else's bubble.

You can't ask to start over just because you're losing the game.

Make your mother proud of you.

Well, it's taken me a while to get here today but I'm here NOW!   ;)

I spoke to my daughter Dot last evening and she made it home from our excursion just fine.  In fact, she said, she got home 1/2 hour earlier than expected.  "Must've had a good tail wind" she said.

Ruth Ann and Papa John I am right there with you on the surprising way time passes ... Dot was on the phone with her daughter Candice when I called and she told me Autumn Rose is starting school in a few weeks!  How shocking is that?  She will be going from 8 am 'til 2 pm.  That seems a long time for a little one to be in class--especially since it's her first experience with school.  Dot reminded me that Autumn will be 5 years old in November.  Yup ... Time sure flies!!

Janet, I really enjoyed that list.  I can relate, that's for sure!  I like "don't pop someone else's bubble" :D

The devotionals are good, as usual.

I think I've heard ("someone" said) that rental and grocery prices follow the cost of living for any given place.  I guess California has a lot of high wages so they gouge ask higher prices for stuff.  I never fit into that "high income" bracket myself, so I know how difficult it is for you, Marilyn.  I wish I knew of an easy "fix."

I have a lot of stuff to take care of today, so will be on my way ... I'll be back as I can -- and whenever I need to take a break. It's great to be home and able to come to CP to catch-up on all y'all are doing and saying.  My heart goes out to each of you who are suffering and experiencing hardships.  Our God is able to make a way where there seems to be no way .. I'm praying....
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Jane, for sure, time flies!  I have just finished posting photos of our Abby's EIGHTH birthday!!  It doesn't seem possible!

I have also posted some of the wedding; some of a beautiful yard, some of July 4th, and some of Abby babysitting Autumn.  I hope you will all go take a look.  I hadn't posted any pics for quite some time.

Now I MUST get off here and do something constructive!

Hi folks...

I sure miss Karma.  I hope that Nard can fix that modem soon.

Well, I had the owner of the water cooler company call me today and he's sending a technician around to view the ceiling and fix it.  He's also going to give me a water cooler that filters my own water and has a little refrigeration unit in the bottom.!  So that's great.  I won't have to lift heavy bottles of water again.

Al, what a wonderful devotional that was today.  What a wonderful God we have.  Thanks so much for sharing those words with us.

Hi, friends,

What an eventful day. Or maybe I should say "event-full" day. Both bosses in the office. Phone ringing almost nonstop. A talk with baby Georgia's mom. Scheduled 2 Atlanta doc appts for late Thurs & Fri a.m. The bone stimulator came in - had to shut down and drive to the doctor's office to meet the guy who brought it for me and showed me how to use it.

The case is not extremely heavy like my c-pap machine, but was hard molded plastic, so I had  difficult time getting it carried down a long set of hallways, on elevator, across huge lobby, to outdoors. Finally, I sat down and said to myself," There's gotta be a better way!" Then, I thanked God for the empty plastic grocery bag I had carefully folded and placed in the very bottom of this tiny purse for some occasion I would need to carry something not manageable with crutches otherwise. Quick as a wink! I believe I was guided to fold that bag to make a "strap" that could be tied in a bow securely around the crutch handle and the handle of that case. Thus allowing my hand to grip the crutch itself, not both crutch and case.

But, of course, hands/arms/shoulders are tired and aching from passing the case from hand to hand to try to get down the first hallway.

Isn't it wonderful how I was prompted to put that bag in my purse this morning, completely oblivious of how valuable that little piece of plastic would become later in the day.

He not only wants to hear us ask for what we need, but often in His mercy provides in advance for circumstances that will be way too difficult for us to handle alone.

This is a wear it for 10 hours a day, 7 days a week appliance. There's no feeling of electricity going through the foot, but the machine says it's working, and I'm going to live by faith on this little marvel.

And, the doctor prescribed an ultra-lite wheelchair. So, I go on the quest for that tomorrow morning.

Further blessing were mine because as I prepared for the long trek to the parking lot, the valet attendant ran across the driveways holding his hand up in a "stop right there" position with a big smile on his face. He retrieved my keys - they know me very well by now  ;) and brought the truck right to me, helped me into it and handed me crutches and case as I was ready for them. What a BLESSING indeed!

So, I've had a pretty big bowlful of lemons to stare at the last few weeks, but I certainly had some refreshing sips of delicious "lemonade" with the events of today.

Sorry this is so long, but I just had to share with my family about this.

Now, to go get that machine hooked up and rest. There will be plenty of quiet time for reading and contemplation with my foot propped up and restful music in my bedroom.

Tomorrow afternoon I have an appointment to look at that place in Eureka/Cutten they won't me put in my application until I have had a walk through. So if that is THE place I will have it.

RuthAnn is was so nice to talk with you as you waited for Leslie to come out of the Post Office the other evening.

My phone rang at 7:15 this morning and I almost jumped out of my chair, I thought surley it was someone with an emergency prayer request but it was only AL Moak returning my call from last night. I am using him as a personal reference on my application.

Jane I have never been one of those higher paid individuals either the only reason I have more income than I have ever had is because I also have  my Social Security check every month. However I am still below the Federal Poverty guidelines by about $10,000. They are 22,000 per year.

One of the phamacuetical companies that I applied to for help turned me down said I made too much money. HA HA a neverending circle of being turned down for such and such. If I am not over qualified I am over /under paid. I wish this county would give us our raise and get it over with. The Union is still battling it out every Tuesday with the Board of Supervisors.

Janet If you get to read this before you take off on all your errands Please sister you must take care of yourself and get that arm healed up. I am preaching to the choir here but you really need to take care of yourself in order to take care of Beth. I still think she should get some help to come in a couple of days a week or even everyday. Even if she has to pay them.

Well, Jim (POA for my income tax mess) says I'm "upside down" re: the poverty level...I am 'way lower than you are, even.   :)

Today I received a letter from the Social Security Administration saying they have been asked by the IRS to take money from my Social Security payments!  I notified Jim and he said he thought the IRS would've absolved this debt like the state has ... he is going to contact the local IRS office and see if they will get something happening.  I've had an Offer In Compromise on file with IRS since January and that was a refiling of the one I'd filed last year. (They sent it back and said I'd passed the time limit and needed to do it all over again).

I found out I have "Stress Tinnitis" now ... what a surprise!!  I will begin a course of treatment as soon as I get all the necessary ingredients assembled.

Well, today has been a very long day for me ... a lot of stuff that had been held at the post office while I was gone was delivered today.  In fact the SS Admin. wanted a reply in 10 days ... and that letter was dated July 20.  I wrote a note on the bottom of the form that I was out of town and only now got their letter ... maybe that will help, but who knows?

One of these daze all of this will be just a reference point on the pages of history.  I'm looking forward to that day!

I'll be working on getting my accounts in order the rest of the evening, but I will try to come back in before going to bed.

RUTH ANN~I love your testimony.  That is just like our Father to take care of you like that.  I love it when He prepares us for something we have no idea is about to happen.

Y'all take care ... I will too!

Marilyn, it would be wonderful if Beth could get some help.  But they would want to be paid, and she gets only $600 per month disability, so that is out of the question for her to pay them herself.  If she had to pay rent, she couldn't eat!

Jane, the IRS can be so........uh.........persistant, unpleasant, ruthless, etc.  But we know Someone who is in control, even of the IRS, don't we?  ;D  Does stress tinnitis cause ringing in your ears?

I am trying to protect my arm, but it is hard to rest it and get the things done I have to do.  I have been worthless today, didn't accomplish anything except playing on the computer.  :-[

I am SO glad Diane can take us to Amarillo on Thursday.  I cannot TELL you what a relief that is.  Also, I got a nice little email note from my youngest daughter Kerri today; first civil word from her since January!  So that brightened my day.

Ruth Ann, I'm so glad God had a kind person waiting to give you a helping hand.  He loves you, and so do I!  I so enjoyed our visit the other day.  Also glad you "just happened" to stash that plastic bag and think of it when it was so needed.  Hope the bone stimulator does the job!

Yup, it does.  I found a website that addresses this and the various causes and treatments.  I didn't know what type I had but wrote them "a little about myself" they replied that it was T7 or Stress related.  Hopefully this remedy will put me back together again.
